Hi-End Receiver w/AC-3?
I'm about to do an upgrade of receiver and am a big Denon fan, but find that the only model of theirs that has AC-3 seems to be the 5800. Since I still have a substantial LD collection that's an important item. What other receivers in the $1500-2500 (retail price) have AC-3 capability? I also seem to remember there's an outboard converter available... anyone have info on that?
BTW if it had the connection, I'd probably go for the new 4802 Denon.
TIA for any input.

If you don't care about surround EX or DPLII then you might be able to find a Pioneer Elite VSX 27TX or 29TX. Both of them have an AC-3 input for laserdiscs. THey originally were priced in your range but now should be well under. If you want Surround EX and 5 channel stereo you could go for the 37TX or 39TX. They are the newer models and have the AC-3 input.
