WEGA owners...?'s

i am seriously considering buying a WEGA (just a 27 inch for my small apartment) and i wanted to know if you are happy with your purchase.

more specifically, i was wondering if anyone has had any problems such as geometry, color lines, etc. if so how did you fix it, can it be fixed, or did you just return it for a new set. the reason i ask is because the last tv i bought (last christmas) had slight geometry problems, very minor, but noticeable to me.

thanks

flickering 32XBR400

I just got a 32XBR400, and I am having this problem where after the TV stays on long enough, the back starts to heat up and something in there begins to spark. each time there's a spark in there, the TV screen flickers. I'm in the process of getting a technical servicer to check it out... it's really hard to move the TV around for replacing, so hopefully someone out there knows about this problem and how it can be solved.

I've got the 36FS12 and I'm very happy with the purchase (except for the fact that I can get it for $300 or so cheaper now than when I first bought it!). The only problem I've noticed is that when the screen is showing a very dark image image you sometimes can see an even darker 3-inch wide vertical bar on the left hand side of the screen. From what I've read on other forums several other people have this problem and Sony has not been very helpful. In fact, it appears that they have refused to admit that the problem even exists! But please don't be discouraged by this as the situation rarely pops up and the Wega's many strengths more than make up for it. Plus I think that this problem may only occur in the larger models (32"+) and has probably been corrected in the newer versions.

I have the high end non XBR 32" and I love it.

I had to have it replaced due to some stupid errors(while watching a Widescreen source, the black bars would change colors, the screen was off center and once I noticed , I couldnt stop noticing).

But the one I have now, I absolutely love it

I totally love my KV-32FV16. After friends have seen it they too went and bought one. Now my Local Sony Store is making me a deal on the new STR-DB1070 Receiver.

Bought the lowend 27" and its worked perfectly. Well worth the $550.00 I paid

btw, if you have a HT setup you don't need the higher model 27", it only has an extra 15 Watts per speaker, nothing else...and it looks prettier.

I've had the 27' PIP version for a few months, and LOVE IT! great TV.

Don't know where you're looking to purhcase, but I got mine from Sears. They'll price match net sites, and you can even get an extra 10% off if you sign up, and purchase it on one of their "new Sears Card" membership weekends.

I have had the KV36FS16 for about 6 months. I've looked for the shading problems others have had and I have never seen them. I absolutely love this TV.

I did, however, buy the extended warranty (something I almost never do) because of the numerous problems people have reported.

I got the 27" with the 2-tuner PiP for Christmas (model, KV-32FV16, I think) and just love it! I haven't had a minute's worth for trouble with it and the picture is unreal, especially with DVDs! I just bought the Video Essentials DVD that was a special this week at DVDTalk and was surprised at how well the Sony calibrated and how much better it looked after doing so. Also it sounds really great - not as good as a HT setup of course, but excellent on its own anyway.

The only thing I don't like about it - and maybe I'm missing something here - is that it doesn't appear to have "Closed Caption on Mute", which the ATI card on my PC has and is something that I've become addicted to. Does it not have this feature, or am I just missing something?

thank you thank you

thanks for the opinions. i had planned on getting one this past week but looks like i'll have to wait just a little bit longer to get it. i have not seen dvds on the WEGAs before but from what it sounds like they must look amazing!

thankfully i'm getting a sweet deal on it too. my buddy is going to pick it up for me for $423 since he works Circuit City.

Snapping in 32HS20

Hey Sephyr:

I too have that popping/flicker in my new 32" HS20 tv. Did they find out what's going on with it?
