16:9 on a 4:3 tv? Please help
I watch dvds using my PS2 and I put it on 16:9 and I got more picture and still had the widescreen bars. I know widescreen gives us more picture but my question is by doing this am I losing picture? Thanks

Did the image looked stretched upwards vertically? I am guessing that is what you you saw, a taller distorted image. You are not really gaining or losing picture but instead distorting what you see.
A 16x9 set, or a 4x3 set capable of displaying anamorphic video can use this extra resolution, but a non-capable set like I am guessing you own displays anamorphic DVDs as being stretched. Leave your player in regular 4x3 mode, removing the extra resolution (anywhere from 33% depending on AR), and making the disc appear as it should be. Yes you loose overall resolution, but if your set is not 16x9 compatible, that is the only way to get the best picture possible.
