subwoofer question

Right now I have a receiver that has a built in amp for the sub, so I hook it directly into the receiver. I use a car sub. It sounds great.

But I want to upgrade my receiver to the Denon3300. I dont want to buy a powered sub, id like to keep the one I have.

And the only connectors I have are the ones like a regular speaker has, the black and red wires.

Can I buy an amp to run the sub? Also, how can I hook the non-powered car sub into the receiver with those connections?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Just use your current receiver to power the sub.

Buy an RCA cable to go from the sub out of the new receiver and connect it to one of the main left/right inputs of your old receiver in stereo mode. Connect the sub to the correct power amp channel and you'll have power. Avoid using the subwoofer amp in this setup, it uses the old receiver's crossover and not the one on your new receiver.

If your old receiver has settings, make sure the main channel you use on the old receiver is set to large or other wise outputting the low frequency info.

That old receiver isn't by chance a Technics EX-700,800,900 is it?

The only reason I ask is because it is rare to have an amplified sub channel in the receiver and those models are the few I know that do have one

Cool I figured it had to be a Technics. I had thought they gave up the integrated powered sub amp when the switched to DD receivers.

I use a SA-EX800 with my computer which has a 80 watt amp built in.
