How much money and room do you have?

Then you have plenty of options. It depends also on whether you are going to watch only HDTV and DVD, or also OTA/cable programming. I hate to ask for this first, but it will save me a lot of typing. And do you want 50+ inches or 65+ inches of screen size?

Actually I was in the store the other day just looking at what I would buy if I were ready to upgrade today. I deal with a particular salesman and he is, in my opinion, unusually honest for a salesman. I was looking at the Toshiba, Mitsubishi, and Sony widescreen high-definiton rear projections. The conclusion that I came to was that for the money the Platinum Plus series from Mitsubishi offered the best bang for the buck. There is a higher offering from Mitsubishi named the Diamond series. They are supposed to have better lenes which improve corner to corner focus. We did a comparison and honestly had trouble noticing the difference. The Diamond series has a nicer cabinet and better set of speakers, but since I run seperate speakers and probably you do too this wasn't an issue for me. The Toshiba was close but I'm a sucker for asthetics and I like the way the Sony's and Mit's look better. The Sony just didn't seem to be as good of a display as the other two. The Platinum Plus gets a nod from me for you to take a look at.
