I'm having a problem with my new bedroom television, which is a Samsung 20" TXK2067.
When I play a DVD, I notice a flickering at various times throughout the movie. It's very noticeable watching a widescreen movie because you see the black areas at the top and bottom go light, dark, light, dark. It's of course very annoying.
I've tried hooking up a different DVD player that I know has no problem and it still happens. I tried different cables and used all the various inputs and outputs. I tried plugging the television into a different outlet. So I'm fairly certain it's the television. I don't really notice it when watching cable, although that might be because it's full screen and it's much more obvious in the black areas on a widescreen movie.
Has anybody ever had this problem or does anyone have any ideas about the cause?

Still, maybe the TV is prone to Macrovision. Is there maybe a setting like auto-brightness or something? Even try turning auto-color off. It sounds a lot like Macrovision -- maybe you should find a video that doesn't have Macrovision on it and see if you get the same problem.

I also thought about buying an S-Video to RCA adapter so that I could use an S-Video cable out of the DVD player but still connect it to the television's composite input. I could always return it to Radio Shack if it doesn't work.

I believe When We Were Kings, the Muhammed Ali documentary, doesn't have Macrovision. Also, Video Essentials shouldn't have Macrovision. I imagine you can rent either of these at the local video store.
