I am curious. What is the general thought about someone selling these in an exchange thread for a modest profit like this? Is this against an unwritten rule, does it make longtimers angry?

Or is it a fair thing to do that is in keeping with the spirit of this board and the Big Lots exchange and info threads?

I am honestly not sure where I stand. I do know that it bothers me when the prices offered here in this thread are higher than ebay, half, or amazon.

In the interest of the board, I will say that several sellers on amazon are now offering the Pebbles series new shipped for about $6.50, and on ebay you can get it for $8 shipped. But the best deal on amazon for Dastardly new is about $16 shipped, so that is a nice deal here.

I would advise folks to price check before buying here. Something feels wrong about higher prices on a hobby board exchange thread than you can find at shopping sites.

Thoughts?

Edit: it is pointed out in a later post that the price was very likely $12 shipped for both. My apologies to Chop2Chip10. The subject is still worth discussing IMHO, so I'll let this original post stand.

Ah, I bet you are right! My sincere apologies to Chop2Chip10. Obviously that is a good deal and serves the board well. Personally I think there is nothing wrong with that at all, and in fact is a win-win.

Personally, I think the line should be, the offer to sell should be for less than the best deal at the major shopping sites.

SpinalGuffman: No one here is selling for more than cost + shipping and a few bucks, if that, for the time and materials.

The resellers are dumping this stuff that low now... since they have realized, oh shit, it is everywhere.

$8 on eBay? With the fees, etc? Ha! :) Shit, it would almost cost me that much with tax, supplies, time and confirmation minus the eBay related fees. Good. I hope they lose their ass AND their time.

Yes I agree. I have no problem with a few bucks profit, as long as it isn't more than you can find a title for elsewhere. And I think that gap has closed completely for a lot of BL titles, even the recent TV seasons.

I have seen one person (not Chop2Chip10) offering several titles for $2-$4 more than you can get them at amazon new shipped. That still bugs me. I think a DVDTalker who agreed to such prices would be pretty ticked to find they could have just ordered it from ebay, etc. for less.
