I've probably done about 30 trades on here and I've never once even considered asking the other party to ship first. Maybe I've just been lucky to not have a bad person on the other end, I dunno. If someone else insisted I shipped first, regardless of which of us were Gold Traders, I would definitely back out of the trade, as I feel that is just lame.

Ah men, bro!
|
Am I missing something here? I just cannot fathom how it's "lame" to ask someone who has not established him or herself on the site as a reputable trader to send first. I'm talking about people who aren't even on the list. Why is that lame?
Is it SUCH a big deal to send first? I did it when starting out; many of us did. I completely understood why it was done and I had no problem sending first. I put myself in their position. Why would someone who has no idea who I am trust me with their merchandise? I would imagine a new trader's ego would have to be mighty fragile to get upset/offended/back out of a trade/etc. simply because the other party asks them to ship first. Flame on. :) |
DVD DVD DVD - THIS IS FOR YOU
I think i had the pleasure of being involved in Sandy's (Killer) 1st trade in which she mailed 1st. Now i don't know how excited she was about mailing 1st, but she did and the trade went great. If we traded tonight, we would mailed at the same time (trust). She's now a +5 and sounds like she can't way to become Golden. i wish more traders were like Sandy |

Your comments were right on. No flame here.

Some gold traders obviously think they can just wait to send after receiving theirs, even from other gold traders.
I just had this happen with "Gold Trader" Ben Hollenbeck (jester695). It just goes to show that Gold Traders can be untrustworthy too. I have still not received the DVD from our trade. He now admits that he did not ship until he received mine. I don't even believe that he has actually shipped, as he states he "thinks his roommate sent it". You've been warned. |
now the claws come out, 4 civilized pages seemed just 3 too many if u asked me. this was coming. lol.
I myself when I first started out did the same thing but now 99% of the time I don't ask anymore. Strike that, I'll ask the person if they're a gold trader and more often than not I haven't had to worry. I've been pretty lucky so far and only had one awry trade but the reasons given seemed totally legit. I also find that the trades I do now which are fewer and fewer ('CHECK OUT MY THREAD, DAMMIT!!) are mostly with traders that I've dealt in the past with and automatically trust. Some oddly enough such as Lugslady who started this thread I have never had the luck in working out a trade with. It's all relative. |
why is it that non-gold traders think that they have earned the same amount of trust as gold traders?...they haven't earned anything....i mean, c'mon, it's easy to get to gold trader status....all you need is 10 trades...i've done hundreds on this site alone and over 700 on a combination of sites......and now this new trader (Mark Klaus) acts all surprised cause i sent after i received after i told him i was doing that....but i'm sure that that email "didn't get thru," right?.......being less than gold doesn't mean that you are a scammer or something, but the odds are certainly better in trusting a gold trader than a non-gold one.....i wish this site kept keeping track of trades well beyond 10 as does gametz.com that i also use (not that i'd wanna put that huge burden on Mao)......on that other site, a trader with 200 trades still sends first if his partner has more trades than him (unless the specific two have traded before or something)......these new traders just want respect without earning it, and it doesn't work that way....it's gotten totally ridiculous
AND GOD BLESS ALL YOU GOOD TRADERS OUT THERE.....i love you guys....if only there were more of you. |
For all those people that think that sending first is some kind of slap in the face... all I have to say is "patience is a virtue". Who cares who sends first... what a ridiculous debate. I send when I send and have never cared if I had to wait an extra week for my discs to show up. If you're that impatient, you need to get a life!
Remember people, they're just movies! Sorry, my 2c... :) |
This is a complete fabrication.
He responded to my trade thread that clearly states I AM A GOLD TRADER. I've been trading since 1999 and have never had a problem. I'm one of those naive people who sends at the same time to even new traders. I use my real name and address on this board. Furthermore, he never stated that he was holding back his until he received mine, but lead me to believe the opposite. Then, he continually was purposely vague when I asked about it. There was no "email that didn't get through", I have the complete record of emails and that is a bold faced lie. Then, he tops it off with this rant full of lies. You be the judge. I've taken up enough of this board's space with this dispute. If I actually do receive the dvd he promised, you will hear nothing further about this from me on this board. Didn't think I'd have to chime in here, since this has been a serious and thought-provoking thread...
Mr. Klaus, If you have a trade problem, you should have contacted me. |
I would always ask a person with no documented trades to send first. If they refused I would not trade.
If a person has completed a single successful trade and balked at sending first (which would be surprising, as most newish traders OFFER to send first), I could easily be persuaded to send at the same time. I certainly would not require Gold Trader status to send at the same time, but I would require at least a single successful trade. |

I apologize for not contacting you first. I flew off the handle a bit after realizing what had happened and I wanted to warn others. |
i can't believe all this is being brought up here of all places.....i said right up front that i send after i receive when dealing with new traders....i had a number of deals going at that time and did not realize he was gold....but he apparently didn't read that comment i made at the beginning of our trade...if he had, he could've reminded me that he was gold and i would have sent immediately (as i do with all gold traders)......there is nothing untrue in anything i said...i never said "i think my roommate mailed it" or anything like the things he is copying here......and what is this "rant of lies" he's talking about?.......this is totally ridiculous.......his dvd is on the way, i apologized for the hold up....but he seems to enjoy going on these crusades to make mountains out of mole-hills...whatever

And i know what you guys are saying about having agreed trades backed-out of by new traders who don't want to send first......i worked for quite a while to come to an agreement with dvd2003, then he tells me that he wants me to send first to him when he doesn't have a single trade here......he told me he had feedback from another site and i agreed to take a look at it....he sent me to some site that is use to trade firearms, but when i asked him to give me a username or a specific trade that showed his feedback, he bailed on me and i haven't heard from him since....he did say at one point that he would send at the same time with tracking numbers, but i don't understand how anyone really thinks that that helps....if someone wants to rip you off, they could just send a box stuffed with paper or something right? all the tracking means is that there is a package on the way, not that your items are actually in it
|
Wow, a package full of papers, now that's another way to scam people off ebay.

So I stated I would NOT send first But i would send and email you a tracking number if you would then in turn mail mine to me (mail at the same time) you informed me you would not do that, So I stopped waisting my time with you and moved on. |
Hopefully we can get this thread back on track before Mao decides to close it due to bickering.
Does anyone else want to venture their views on the issue of "Should Gold Traders mail at the same time as Non-Gold Traders" ? Dont be shy ! |
Hey guys - the funnest thing happened to me over the weekend!
I joined another trade site and after a week i made my 1st trade with a very experienced trader. He asked if i had a problem mailing 1st. I said, you darn right i have problem, i have feedback from another site and that we would have to mail at the same time - lol Just some Christmas humor and i did mail 1st and i didn't mention about being a Gold Trader R |
