Guess I should start changing up/qualifying my verbage? Most of the time, % off codes only apply to DVDs. Only real exception being the 40% off code which shows up quite a bit - but still excludes BRs.

Well, it wasn't YOUR verbiage that is confusing. It say's the same thing that you listed when you put in the code.

___

Yes, I also noticed last night that the price of boxed sets increases when entering the code. Not cool CH. It's pointless to offer free s/h on sets while at the same time increasing the price of the item itself.

I miss 60% off plus free shipping. .... I hope there are a few of those sales before Christmas.

Thanks for everything Jester -- you rock!

I imagine the freebie Da Vinci is SD only? I sort of liked Angels and Demons, but buy if it can be the BD combo.

You are correct. It's for the SD version, not the Blu-ray.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part V

805026 finally went "live"... BUT... it, like 805541, adds $$ to the price of box sets which will somewhat negate the "free shipping on sets" offer... The ones I checked added ~$3 to sets normally ~$18 but in the process making them count as fulfillment titles and ~$5 to sets normally ~$23-$30. I did not check anything with a "regular" price greater than $30.

FWIW, the "free shipping on sets" does *not* include titles other than "sets". That is, if you take a "free" selection, you'll pay shipping on *it* but NOT the set.

So... a pre 805026 code "set" going for ~$18 would now be a fulfillment going for ~21 and earn a "free" DVD based on it's "MSRP" (I tried this with a MSRP $29.95 set and was able to get normal DVDs of $29 and under free) but you'd pay shipping on that title. Total order would be ~$24.

Overall, not too bad, but not as good as it seemed at first. I'll probably fulfill a TVonDVD account with formerly ~$18 sets and shouldn't hurt the "average" too much...

BUT... the "Free shipping on sets" *DOES* work on the $15 boxed sets, and *no* you can not take a free DVD with the purchase of one of these sets.

Guess you can't have your cake & eat it to. The 5026 code might work with most Sets - but not the BR ones - specifically the Star Trek BR.

Before Sunset
The President's Analyst
Separate Tables
Nashville
Bananas
Love And Death
Crimes And Misdemeanors
Angels & Demons
The Da Vinci Code (free)

for 43.93 or $4.88 each average

But I did get a free SET! I just ordered among other things Pinky and The Brain Vol 3. and Animaniacs Vol 3. using 805541, and the Animaniacs box came up FREE! So I got two box sets for $15.00 with free shipping, which when one considers gas and time to go to BL, comes up better than BL!

Was interested, so I tried doing the same. Animaniacs is showing up "Free with Funcash." So, good luck, but CH will probably not honor this. On the off chance they do, however, I'm in for one order for a free Animaniacs set.

I'm aware that the success rate of the "Free with funcash" offers is pretty dismal, but (A) Animaniacs Vol. 3 is not the usual obscure DVD that comes with this offer, and (B)I've had pretty good luck with CH over the years.

So it may not work out, but I'm optimistic.

"Usual obscure DVD?" Like "Kung Fu Panda?"

The Flintstones Complete Series set was also Free with FunCash once.

Basically it seems that sometimes (or maybe every time, who knows) CH retires a product code (as in, removes it from their inventory), it goes through a very small window of "Free with FunCash." It is a bizarre bug, and I'm not sure anybody over there even knows it is happening. It happened with those James Bond movies a while back, for example. I was playing around with them while it was happening, and they were disappearing from my cart after about 15 minutes of being in there for free, and then I couldn't get the items back on screen, even though I had the product numbers from the Data Miner database. Then another 1 or 2 would suddenly be "Free with FunCash" and the cycle would repeat. I didn't have any interest in actually ordering them--it was more of an "I wonder how this works" kind of thing, but it was interesting to see the process happen. I could just imagine some guy going through the steps to remove the item from their online inventory each time.

I've seen the same thing Cheato.
Last time I saw it recently, was with the discontinued WB Charlie Chaplin movies.
When they were free with FC, I added a couple to my cart.
Then after they disappeared from the site, they still remained in my cart.
Never ordered them, since obviously they would get canceled.

Well, we'll see if I get Animaniacs, or the sad little note that "We are unable to fulfill the order for this OOS item." If it's the note, no loss.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part V

LABORDAY shows dead for me.

I did get an account fulfilled using 805541 and that coupon on Monday. Worked great with House Season 5, where the price increase took it to $41.97 and hence counted as two fulfillments. That and another normally $30 box set priced to $20.97 (and hence counting as the third fulfillment, whereas normally it wouldn't at $18) enabled the coupon. With that and free shipping, it was a good deal for me. FWIW.

LABORDAY promotion code is dead for me also.
I was trying to decide which 5 $15 Box sets I wanted to get for $60. I guess I didn't need them anyway.

I had an account that I was hoping to fulfill with a 3 for $60 Blu-ray offer.
Instead, I bought a boxed set that nomally counts a 2, but with the price increase that the the code implemented, it shot the set up to "counts as 3" status. Then I used the coupon to subtract $15, but the "counts as 3" status stuck, and then I got a Criterion on top for $2.99 shipping.

I was able to place an order on the $15 sets (free shipping) with the LABORDAY discount last night. Thanks to those who posted updates on that deal.

Why are they giving free shipping on sets and not regular dvd's too? I should have placed more orders when the labor day code and fee ship was on.

True story

Got a funny one here, that I just had to come and share.

A couple weeks ago, I placed a few different orders on a few different accounts.
Among them were the Blu-ray releases of Gladiator and Braveheart as well as a few others.
Today I received a few things from CH. A couple of letters, and a new disc.
"I sure hope the disc is the Gladiator Blu-ray that I've been waiting for", I thought to myself.

So I first opened up the letters to see what they were, and one of them was a letter stating that the Independence Day Blu-ray that I had ordered with the other discs was out of stock, and of course that it would ship out as soon as it was in stock... and I wondered how long it would be before I would finally receive it.

Well, I didn't have to wait too long, because the next thing I opened was the new disc and it was Independence Day.
