Hi everyone, new member to the site, and I need some help. I just ordered a bunch of movies from Columbia House during the $6 FC per dvd sale, and now I am trying to use the FC for my movies. It let's me select "use Fun Cash", notes that the items are now free, but when I come to step 3 in my order, it shows them as free in the listing, but I have a total charge for them all at the bottom, plus my shipping. I should just have the shipping charges. Anyone else have this problem before?

BrandomM317, you might go to the "Questions about Columbia House?" thread, there is a lot of good info there. (http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=508198). You might just read through the whole thing and the thread also includes contact info for Col. House that you can use to call. Since they revamped the site there have been a lot of buggy bugs. Just the nature of the beast I suppose. This thread is really for sale offer codes and the occasional corny joke by me about ordering too much. :P

A fulfilled account?
What is the advantage (if any) of keeping a fulfilled account as well as other cycling accounts? I am considering closing my account to cycle, but now am wondering if I should have one always fulfilled. Any suggestions?

As said right above your post, please ask non-sale code related questions in the appropriate thread.

Yes. This IS "Columbia House Sale Offer Codes..."
Agreed!
Within the last week (or so) we have seen this thread go a bit "hinkey."
Let's try to keep the posts on-topic. K?

Few new ones - nothing too exciting.
802439 - b1 + 50% off + 15% off Order
804439 - b1 + DVDs as low as $7.95 + 15% off Order
804539 - b1 + DVDs as low as $5.95 + 15% off Order
Like LKRunnels has pointed out to me, the 801888 ride appears to be over. CH has changed it to strictly 'B1 + 60% off' - no free S&H now.

Click on the "Details" link on either the main page or the shopping cart page where your current offer is listed. This will open a new box with a link that says "Looking for the offer in your mailing?". Click it and enter the code in the box provided.
THESE CODES DO NOT WORK IN THE "Enter Promotion Code" BOX IN THE SHOPPING CART!

Thanks for the info, ibsck.
But, you have to be careful with the language.
CH is very specific now: 15% of your DVD order. They USED TO say 15% off your ENTIRE order, but now they've narrowed it down. So now it seems that DVDs get the extra discount. (For some reason, they consider Blu-rays to be "DVDs" for this kind of promotion, but they don't consider sets of DVDs to be "DVDs".)
This makes the $39.95 and above sets less attractive (that's how I got the huge MASH set), and the better deals for those are now with box set free shipping codes, which are rare (or possibly nonexistent with the "new" CH?).
So in the OLD CH, the Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Colection at $59.97 could be used as 3 fulfillments in a 6:3 account for $59.97+7.99(shipping)-$12(with a 20%-off entire order code)=$55.96. Now the best you can get is the base price, $59.97.
If the stars align, and CH happens to have a site-wide special, like free shipping over $75 for your ENTIRE order, then you could use a B1G1 code to save a little more.

Thank you thejester and Ibsck
the 70% + 15% is working. I guess it's as good as it gets since they seem to have gotten rid of the free shipping codes.
Cheato is correct also about the math. It's not 85% off, it's 15% off the already discounted 70% price. Nice Math, they must have bankers working for them.

^ That's always been the case.
A 70%-off DVD with an extra 15% off would be 1-.3*.85= (as Drama King said) roughly 75% off.
On the old site, the discount was listed at the bottom, after the subtotal, in a lump sum, and always to a flat discount on the subtotal of the entire order.
I'm not sure why you're unhappy with the math, lolitazz. The code wording used to say "Take an extra 15% off your entire order." If the thought the discount would be off the original prices, it would have to have said "Take an extra 15% off the original price of each item." It still says "Get 15% off your DVD order," not "Get an additional 15% off each item's original price."
On the new site, the discount is taken per item in the cart, so you have to look at each item's price, and compare it to the original price and do your own math to see which items qualify for which discounts.
My post wasn't about the math--it was about the fact that sets no longer qualify for the extra discount since they changed wording of "entire order" to "DVD order," and they don't consider sets of DVDs to be DVDs, but they consider Blu-rays to be DVDs for this particular kind of code. Strange wording, not strange math.

Those of you who have had orders broken up and reassembled under a closed account (esp. during the B1G4 fiasco), you may have funcash on that closed account.
I noticed I had $60 funcash on a closed account. I called CH and they said I could call in my funcash orders or re-open the account. I will probably just call in the order (unless there's a reason not to).
Just a heads up!

Well, I don't know if it is a sign of things to come. Or, CH has finally cleaned up all of the "active" codes hanging around. But, I can only find a handful (~8) of active codes.

Oh I'm not unhappy with the math, I just think it can be misleading, but that's what business do. I'm still a happy customer.
They have now for Wednesday B1G1 plus free shipping
I can't enter any codes today, can't get to the page.

^Looks like it has to be a $19.95 (reg price) clearance title to get Wargames or something else for free.
3 for $22 does not appear to be working today because the B1G1 is getting in the way. I was hoping to get them to combine

^Sale codes never apply to funcash. You always pay shipping and regular price on funcash orders, unless there is a fluke and it's been a while since there has been one.
