I got an acceptance e-mail ... it was a day or two after I applied. Packaged showed up within a week or so (was about the standard).

They have been known to hold a membership application when an enrollment DVD is out of stock. But it is hard to know why Columbia House does what it does.

Like Dane said, I just joined two days ago and am still waiting on my acceptance email. In terms of the good pickings in the free DVDs, Dane has listed most of what I can recall was a good deal. I ended up picking up both of the Bourne films ("Explosive Extended" edition for the first was all they had) but nearly went with the Caddyshack and Animal House SEs.

If I don't hear from them tomorrow about my acceptance, is it worthwhile to email the help address? I'd rather not have to end up waiting 30 days for something that was said should take no more than 2-3.

FYI: Another deal that beats anyone else out there is the new 2-disc "20 Million Miles to Earth" SE from Sony (Harryhausen film with three different versions on it). $9.98 shipped for a 2-disc re-release is pretty good. Betting the cheapest you can get it elsewhere online is around $15.

Thanks all. In the last few days I've signed up for and fulfilled my first CH.com account. Used the above as one of my fulfillments, along w/ Fargo, which I was amazed to find that I didn't own already. I was probably holding off for a 2 disc SE, which will now be announced since I bought the 1 disc.

Did you ever receive the acceptance email??

A lot of 2-disc stuff is coming up $9.98, which is awesome. The latest one on my want list that I've noticed is the upcoming "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" 2-disc SE.

Can anyone else verify this -- that all the seasons are $10 with no s/h, etc. I hadn't signed up yet for ch.com but have been tempted to do so. This will probably convince me to take the plunge. Thanks!

I can confirm it. In my CH.com account they show as $10.00 and CH.com always has free shipping.

Just go to www.ch.com
It will say columbiahouse up in the address bar, but will be ch.com. The main page will say on it, "ch.com powered by columbiahouse.com"

Yep, my acceptance email came about a day after I posted that message. One thing to watch out for: the email ended up being forwarded into my spam folder, so if I hadn't been as diligent about checking that folder, I may have missed it.

I just joined this on a whim. Didn't need/like any of the free titles, so I selected two I thought had good resale value on half.com. Should make my $10 back....awaiting "acceptance". What is this place Harvard?

I want to order the new Taxi Driver LE. I hear it's around $10. Can anyone confirm?

I'd also like to order Inland Empire. Is it offered? What's the ask? Thanks.

Depends on your tastes.

Just go to the site and look, there are only like 70 or so to choose from.

Thanks bigjim25 for the heads up on the Beavis and Butt-Head sets. My Vol.1 set was getting lonely, so I sprang for the other two sets.

Platoon - 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition $9.98. I know it's been out a year but I just went to add it to my collection. Beats everyone else I've looked at by about 5 bucks.

^ This is available as an enrollment title at Columbia House, which is how I ended up with one. But now I want the steelbook, which they don't carry.

Deliverance: DE is $11.xx, which is around $2-3 cheaper than the usual cheap online sites.
