Question for anyone with new membership approval?

Got the mail today and a letter from Columbia House. They rejected my membership. No reason. No explanation. WTF? Is this company fucking stupid? I've been a perfect customer over the years (always paid via CC upfront, etc.). This is the 2nd consecutive appication of mine they've rejected (first one was early January for a n expired online code--when I had used one mention on this site).
Anyone have a clue?

Does one have a higher rate of success using codes and PSNs from promotional mailings? We get those all the time. I am about to rejoin, and it makes sense to me to use the code (requires buying 2 to fulfill) and PSN they provide, rather than grabbing a code from the forum. I don't know if it will yield success. I purchased loads from them in November/December that went far above and beyond account fulfillment. Does this increase one's chances? One would think so if Columbia House was run rationally, but we know that is not usually the case.

It has been reported numerous times that if one gets a rejection letter one can call in (using the account number on the letter) and the CSR will usually be able to reinstate the application. But many applications are "lost", meaning that, for reasons unknown, the person reviewing them just deleted them. It has been reported that multiple applications placed on the same day tend to get lost, so don't do that.
IIRC, a CSR once reported here that mail-in applications were accepted/rejected based on whether they were in black pen versus blue pen or pencil. So, it is really weird how they make decisions on such things. Don't take it personally, just keep trying periodically.

I have applied twice in 30 days. Both with different names (my wife wanted an account and has never had), emails, cards, addresses, and 1 got lost, and nobody will respond back to the other one from weeks ago. My first ever membership I did through an outside website, and got my dvds in like a week. The 2nd membership was about the same time period through CH website. I don't know what is up nowadays.
