Texas Chainsaw/Superman II: Donner Cut

Any hope that CH will ever offer the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 disc SE from Dark Sky films? Man, that would be cool.

Also, why do you suppose CH isn't making "Superman II: Richard Donner Cut" available as a preorder? They're carrying all the other new Superman special editions from Warner Bros.

I don't think we'll see TCM, not sure who distributes Dark Sky films but it hasn't showed up yet, so likely not someone they already have a deal with.

Not sure why the Donner cut hasn't showed up yet, maybe CH is treating it like another SE of Sups 2, and doesn't realize the difference. Or Warner is intentionally holding this title because they expect a large response at retailers, who knows with CH! I only hope it will be available at some point, hopefully on release day because I want it

I have already purchased Kong, Transformers, and Alice, but where are these titles at CH?

King Kong - Deluxe Extended Edition (Universal Studios)?

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - Locked 'n Loaded Director's Cut (Unrated) (Focus Features, Universal Studios)?

Transformers: The Movie - 20th Anniversary Special Edition (Sony Wonder, BMG Distribution)?

Gojira - Godzilla Classic Collector's Edition (Classic Media, Sony Music Video)?

Alice in Wonderland (1985) (Sony Pictures)?

Added MGM's A Fish Called Wanda to the CH no-show list.

And another one: An Evening With Kevin Smith 2. They have the first one, and the second is released by Sony Pictures, so I don't know why they don't have it.

Robert Mitchum Signature Collection... Angel Face, Macao, etc... This is a WB catalog release, street date 1/23. As of now, it's a no show.

I was hoping CH would have stocked the other Dragon Dynasty titles since they have the Protector.

CH seems to be getting lighter and lighter on classic releases. I too was waiting for the Mitchum set (or more specifically, at least The Sundowners.

And no sign of pre-orders on any of the following upcoming high profile titles (of the type that one use to be able to always count on CH to have on release day):

Heiress, The (2/6/07) Universal
Arabian Nights, The (2/6/07) Universal
Here Comes Mr. Jordan (2/6/07) Sony
Summer Place, A (2/6/07) WB
Blume in Love (2/6/07) WB
Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, The (2/13/07) WB
Performance (2/13/07) WB
Butcher Boy, The (2/13/07) WB
Billy Budd (3/6/07) WB
Prisoner of Zenda, The (3/6/07) WB

They do have a pre-order up for Volume 2 of the W.C. Fields Comedy Collection, so there's at least that. But I am skeptical that we will be getting as many new releases of 'older' titles as we used to from the CH DVD Club.

A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Joyeux Noel . . .

Here are a few titles released by Studios/Labels that Columbia House definitely carries that for some reason are NOT available to members or newbies:

1) "Joyeux Noel" (Merry Christmas)(2005) ------ Sony Pictures Classics

2) "Together" (Swedish film by Lukas Moodysson)(2000) ------- MGM

3) "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" (2006) ----- First Look Studios

While "Together" is a slightly obscure film, "Joyeux Noel" (Academy Award Nominee, Best Foreign Language Film 2006) and "Guide" (Special Jury Prize and Dramatic Award Winner, Sundance 2006) are very well-kown, and should be on there.

It's possible CH is on the outs with First Look, as they didn't get recent releases Relative Strangers or Her Minor Thing, either. Sony's foreign titles are kind of a crapshoot, too. They carry most of them, but don't have Good Bye Lenin, Happy Times, Divided We Fall, and others. Not having Joyeux Noel is somewhat surprising, but not drastically so.

Like the replies in the other thread said, there's little rhyme or reason to this kind of stuff with CH, so you're better off just keeping your fingers crossed than trying to figure it out.

The one that I can't figure out is Scorsese's Bob Dylan documentary, No Direction Home. They had it briefly and I ordered it, but when it came it had that Paramount 'Full Screen' banner. I thought I ordered the wrong one, and like an idiot traded it before realizing it was a 1.33 OAR. By the time I tried to re-order, it had disappeared. Arrgh.

I completely forgot about "Bob Dylan:No Direction Home." That is #1 on my "why the hell doesn't CH carry this title?" list. It's too bad there's no way to send suggestions to CH for titles that they should carry. Maybe enough people would be emailing them about the more popular missing titles.

Thanks for the heads-up about First Look Studios and the other Sony foreign titles.

Anybody know why CH doesn't carry 2001: A Space Odyssey? Or if they ever had it? Mine finally wore out on me. I know new Kubrick releases are supposedly somewhere on the horizon, but I just can't *not* have access to 2001. But I'd rather not spend 14 bucks on it either, if possible.

Don't know what happened to it. I got mine through the club, though that was at least more than three years ago and probably closer to 5 years ago.

It's OOP... And, like you said, a new edition is due later this year.
