CH/Great Fun Money Back Offer Question
My last CH order, I signed up for this, to get the $20 back offer at CH, but didn't get a credit on that CH order, and have since done another CH order on the same account, and there wasn't a credit then either.
So just wondering from the people who have done this, how exactly it works??

sotra I wanted to ask you about the Great Fun deal.Yesterday I submitted an app to CH and joined Great Fun.So far I have gotten an email thanking me for joining, but nothing yet about the $20 cash back, will that come in a separate email? Also does it matter which Ch order you submit to them for the $20 or does it have to be on the app order that I submitted when I joined GF?Thanks in advance for your help.

It will come in a separate email. I usually get it about 2 days after the welcome email.
It shouldn't matter which H order you submit to them for your cashback rebate check as long as you submit it within 45 days of joining Great Fun (submit it within 30 days and cancel your membership if you don't want to incur any membership fees). 2 times (once with Great Fun and once Traveller's Advantage) I have submitted 2 invoices from 2 orders in order to get the full $20 cashback and that worked both times.
As an additional note I noticed that Great Fun actually advertise directly on DDD (DeepdsicountDVD) that you can get $20 cashback when you make an order there. I've done that several times before. Just make sure that it has been at least 30 (might be 60) days since your last trial membership ended before you enter into a new one. In the past I have been a bit eager and have twice (once at CH and once at DDD) been told I couldn't get a trial membership and instead I got a coupon for $20 off a car rental at Alamo or something.

sotra, I just joined Great Fun through a DDD link but didn't actually make an order yet. So, I place the order, and when I get the order, send Great Fun the receipt, right? Do I just send it before the 30 days is up and then cancel the account by 30 days to not get charged, even if I didn't receive the check yet?
thanx

Yes, print out the rebate form (link provided in other thread - see post #2 above), fill it out with your address and membership #, send it with your receipt (with DDD you can just log into your account online once you've made the order and it shipped to print out a receipt) and cancel before your trial membership runs out.

I just signed up for Great Fun at Deep Discount CD and got the rebate email. However, the item I ordered was a pre-order so I won't receive it for another few weeks. Would you think they'd accept the order confirmation email as the receipt or do I have to have the actual shipping invoice when it ships?
Never mind; I just emailed them and they said wait until I receive it.

These folks are fast with their rebates. I signed up on 3/8 - mailed in the rebate request on 3/10 - received $20 in mail today.
I cancelled that account. How quickly can you rejoin for another rebate?

It was nice to find out that greatfun offers a 5% discount on purchases off DDD. I picked up the Louis Malle CC set for $41.77 after discount. It'd seem quite beneficial to join, cancel, and rejoin often so you get the $20 rebates on top of the 5% discount off DDD's sale prices. Might add up to a lot if it's stackable with DDD's 20% off sale.

I can confirm that. Tried it and done it, but let's hope that they don't change their terms if too many people continue doing this

Also a couple of notes about Great Fun:
1: They used to have customer service over the phone 7 days a week. That was changed to 6 days a week late last year and quite recently it was changed to Mon-Fri only (9am to either 9 or 11pm EST). Hope it's not a trend that they might be going out of business, but they should be fine since they are part of Trilegiant which have PCSafety Plus, Traveller's Advantage, Shopper's Rewards and so on that I've tried too (all offer $20 cashback/gas cards/Circuitcity giftcards etc.). The phone no. btw. is 1-800-290 8603.
2: Per GF's T&Cs even if you "forget" to cancel within 30 days they will refund you the membership fee for the current month. So, if you cancel within the first month after your trial they should refund you that month's membership fee. Never tried that though.

Thanks for the confirmation Sotra. You're definitely the expert and biggest spokesperson for the Great Fun site and I probably wouldn't have taken advantage of it without your input.

Expert? I don't know about that
Just sharing my experiences.
As another note I can confirm that the wait ing period to open up another trial membership for Great Fun is not long at all. On Monday I cancelled one (even though I have not received the rebate yet) and today I placed the following order with CH:
Stripes, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day Box Set 04351409W $13.71
Crash Director's Cut Edition 04402301W Free
King Kong Special Edition 04401907W Free
Blue Collar TV: Season One - Volume One 04252409W $18.71
Subtotal 32.42
Shipping & Processing FREE
Tax FREE
Total 32.42
And I didn't expect an offer for another $20 cashback from Great Fun, but it came up
Do note though that I did change my payment method and my email address with CH compared to last time I made an order. So, maybe that had something to do with it?!?

I gotta give thanks also Sorta, waiting on my first rebate thanks to your posts on the subject. Never looked into it since I figured it would be a hassle. But after reading your experiences and the fact that we all deal with CH on a regular basis (talk about a hassle sometimes) how bad could it be?
