How long to wait on approval?? How about 3 months!!
For those always wondering just how long to wait before giving up on an application (via web in this case) - how does almost 3 months sound??? Sounds pretty longggg to me, but that is what appears to be happening.
Back in April(2005), I closed my account using the ill-advised "death of member" via the web site. I say "I-A" because I've tries 5 times since then to re-enroll - 2 for TV edition & 3 reg DVD Club. One of the reg. apps was via phone. All 5 either disappeared or I got "cannot do business @ this time" postal letter rejections.
After doing the first 3, I waited almost 4 months before trying 2 more in Oct.. I got rejection letters for those 2.
Today, I get an email -
Thank you for recently applying to the Columbia House DVD Club.
It has come to our attention that due to a technical error, there has been a delay in processing your application. Your application is currently being processed, and upon membership approval, your product will be on its way.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to helping you build the biggest, most comprehensive collection of movies on DVD.
If you have any questions, please contact us at our toll-free number, 800-262-2001, or email us at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Customer Service Manager
I just recently got an app to go thru using a friends address. I just don't know which app CH is looking to "process" & what DVDs were on it???
This was SLOW, even by CH standards.

I also received that same response today from a recent application. And the funny thing is that I have already received a welcome to the club email for that application. Who knows what is going on over at CH. Maybe it is one big digital orgy and everybody is celebrating.

I got the same email, but I do not know which application it refers to. I have applied online twice for the TV club in the past month. I do not have any temp charges.

Count me in as well. I have tried about 7 apps over the last few months with 3 of them getting accepted. I tried to mix up my choices to avoid getting double copies, but if this magical application that was previously lost goes through, looks like I'll probably have 2 copies of some of those Warner 2-disc sets.

With so many getting this message, isn't a more reasonable explantion that this is all a mistake? Surely they aren't now accepting all the "lost" applications?
FWIW, I didn't get such an e-mail thus far...

I don't think that's the case...

I also received this email today. Last week I got one app approved after losing one the week before. I hope this email refers to the lost one and not the already approved one. So how many of us have been approved recently after having one lost. Maybe they finally fixed the leak.

I've now received two of those emails. I'm a bit nervous since both of these were back in November and I've since either purchased or received as gifts every single DVD on those orders!

Ok folks, more funky....
I applied to the DVD club on 10/22, yes October 22nd. Tonight I receive a "Welcome to the Club" e-mail, two and a half months later! This is some sort of record for me. I never applied again after 10/22 and when I log on to look at the order history it has the DVD I asked for and an order date of 1/5. I am glad I was accepted but wow, 2 1/2 months?
How bizarre is this? What is up with CH.com?
Tim :-)

I also received a welcome to the club email for an application I made over two months ago. I redid the application and received the selections mid November. Now I'm looking at receiving the same movies again almost two months later. I sure hope they let me change the selections or I will cancel. This is the 6th new account for me in 2 months.

I also received a welcome to the club email today and the selections will probably be duplicates from another enrollment.
Of course, CH customer service is closed today, so I will try to call tomorrow.

I applied about a month ago, and the same thing happened to me, but I received a phone call instead of an email. The woman that called me (I think it might have been the person whose voice is on the automated phone system) asked me if I still wanted my application to go through. I said yes, but haven't heard anything since then, although it was only a few days ago.

Count me in, app approval email for app from 10/03/05!!!
I just emailed them asking if they could change some of the dvd's to avoid duplicate dvd's from other sources.
I'm not optimistic though, probably have to accept the enrollment dvd's and hassle with returns to get different ones.
Now, I'm concerned about all the other 'lost' applications I've had over the last 3 months.
Oh well,

Yep, just got one today for an application from October 3. I already own every title on the application, since an app I was approved for from October 16 had the same enrollment selections. Ugh. I fired off an e-mail to customer service, but what is everyone else in this situation going to do? I don't want to get stuck with movies I already own.

Just got two acceptances full of duplicates of things I've already got. Maybe someone else in this situation wants to trade unwanted titles? Off the top of my head, I have Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Modern Times, City Lights, Rebel Without a Cause, The Big Red One, Strangers on a Train, and a couple others (all 2-disc special editions).

I only received one "problem" & the follow-up "Welcome" email, so looks like only one of my 2 from that time-frame (Oct 1st & on) is going to be a problem for me.
Why couldn't it have been the other??? I have almost none of those selections yet??? Oh well, guess I'll be making a call & refusing shipment when I get the package.
On the bright side - looks like CH no longer considers me "deceased" @ this address.
