If during the application process you see

a temp charge appear on your credit card does that mean it was approved. Or can I still get denied? It wasn't the actual charge just the temp one.

usually you're accepted once you get the temp charge.

I've been trying to get an account open at my post office box, and I will see a temp charge appear and disappear.

Doh. That had got my hopes up after having a "lost" application last try on a TV Club account. Oh well back to waiting patiently. Yeah right..hurry up.

After learning of CH from this talk forum, I attempted to join the CH TV set club late Thursday (12:30 am, so technically Fri. morning) using code xxx which seemed to let me have four for$0.49 and was not asked for a credit card. I got the following by email: "Thanks for submitting your application to join the Columbia House DVD Club: TV Edition. We recommend printing out a copy of this order confirmation for your records. Just to let you know where things stand, we're now in the process of reviewing your application, which should take about a week."

Does this mean it didn't work?

It means they received the application and generated an auto-response. It doesn't mean anything one way or another about being actually approved.

I wasn't real clear on explaining my concern. I'm new at this posting thing. I did recognize that the auto email from CH was just that. My concern is that after reading all the posts from the members about not getting accepted, etc. after using various codes is how long to wait before trying again? Thanks.

Recently, I've had it happen 3 times where I got the $1 temp charge followed by the actual $ charge shop up in my "pending" charges. Normally, I had been taking that as "acceptance" of my apps by CH - that changed recently because I got rejected for all 3 apps. I even got nice little letters saying CH couldn't offer me a membership "at this time".

I have had the same problem using the HDL link for the TV Edition the last 3 times, I finally gave up and used my parents address with all my info and CC and it looks like it has been approved. For the record...I was approved over the phone for the DVD club with no problem.

Using regular DVD club codes on the TV Edition website does not work. You can't get TV sets for 49¢; others have tried it and have been rejected. For a code to work, the website must display the "DVD Club TV Edition" logo at the top. When you enter a regular club code it doesn't do that. Just a glitch in the website that it accepts the incorrect codes at all.

The best TV Edition codes are HDL and H6J but even those codes will only work a time or two (at best) before Columbia House will start refusing applications. Technically they aren't valid anymore.

The best valid TV edition code is LE5D: three sets for $24.90, three fulfillments (the details on the website are incorrect about fulfillments).

I was just accepted to the standard DVD club today on an application I submitted online 5 days ago. That's one of the longer waits, but give it at least a week and preferrably two before considering it dead.

Actually I just got the approval email this morning. And it was an HDL app so as others have said above they do still let a few through. Only took two attempts so I am a happy man today.
