Yes you could, and yes, it would be legal. However, it is just one of those things we don't talk about.

Airport Terminal pack (2 disc, 3 cheesy Airport movies) : $11.97 before funcash.

Edit - you can only apply $10 funcash, but what the 'ell.

For those of us with a messload of funcash has anyone encountered deals that would still be outstanding even with the shipping (I plan on buying 5-6 sets to get rid of my funcash while not having to pay that much for shipping per set.) For my contribution I will say that the Chaplin shorts are 30 bucks after applying 20 funcash and appear to be excellent and the Gangsters collection for 25 after funcash is still a steal.

I got the Twilight Zone Collection 1 for $30 after applying $20 FC, which is a pretty decent deal even with $8 (damn) shipping. I calculated it as being slighty cheaper than if you got it during an enroll/fulfill process, assuming you got it as a fulfillment under normal circumstances (if you fulfilled during a free shipping or B1G1 sale, then that would make it cheaper there). I'm probably not going to open an account for a while, and I would choose different fulfillments anyway, so it wasn't a bad idea to go for it.

if you're interested in "Dragnet 67" and have a CH.COM acct (the one with the free shipping) ..they have "Dragnet 67" for $23.99, and you can apply $10 in FC, which makes it $13.99 (plus tax, if applicable, for me it was $1.22) total cost ~15.21

DDD has it for $30 even, less 20% which would make it $24 ..

cheapest place(s) on dvdpricesearch, $27.83 at dvdsoon, or about $30 at dvdplanet/amazon (as well as DDD)

why complain????

i happen to work for CH, i guess as one of the "crappy csr's" that everyone always complains about. One thing that i never could understand is how people complain about funcash. For those people who have been in and out of the club for awhile it is 100% better than the bonus points that we use to have. they would only let you take 20% off of a title with no other purchase required. You earn something for nothing...its not like you weren't going to buy the movie you earned the funcash on anyways. the funcash comes off the regular club price of a single selection...pretty simple there. On box sets its different know. You have always been able to use it on them. Recently the rules have changed. Now it depends on the price of the boxset. You are still saving money! maybe you don't get the same savings that you use to but it is still a savings. remember that we offer the funcash for nothing. you even earn it on items that you are required to buy anyways.

Most of us have no problem with them changing funcash, we just have a problem with the way CH went about it. Columbia House had multiple deals to build funcash during the early part of the year. Then right before the redemption period started, they changed the funcash rules on everyone. They should have allowed all funcash accrued before the rule change to fall under the old redemption rules, and anything after to fall under the new redemption rules. Many people felt this was unfair. Once again, I have no problem with the funcash changing (although I miss the old funcash system), Columbia House can change that if they want, I just don't like them suddenly changing the rules before we could even spend our funcash, many people might not have purchased as many dvd's.

Not all CSRs are crappy. Many are very helpful, and clearly doing the best they can with the minimal information they are given to operate with. And much of the blame lies with CH policies and the erratic and unequal enforcement of them. The lack of rhyme or reason behind what comes out of CH literally defies logic at times, and results in many long threads on this very forum by seasond veterans of CH memberships trying to decipher the latest data.

That is a 100% false statement. The reasons for that assessment are clearly spelled out in other threads on this subject.

Fun cash used to be worth something much more, and was factored into my purchase decisions. Then CH retroactively changed the rules, significantly devaluing fun cash after the fact. I lost literally hundreds of dollars of purchasing power, money that CH effectively picked out of my pocket. It was also quite obviously a premeditated and extremely shady action on CH's part...to put it as kindly as I can. Now fun cash is basically only useful for titles which can be ordered for free as enrollments. Whoop-dee-doo.

I found something interesting. The DVD Nine Queens [which received a very favorable reviewing here at DVDTalk] has a regular club price which is 50% off the $30 list price, meaning you can get it for $15 in Funcash. I haven't discovered any other titles with a similar scheme, however.

I just checked out the data miner file, and only found two similarly priced items: The Brass Ring and Son of the Bride. Maybe this'll help someone out.
