New Specialty Shops

Looks like CH is putting together a few new things for Mother's Day in the Specialty Shops. The links are all messed up right now (I think they work on the live site, rather than an internal server!)

--Box sets up to 50% off for Mom

--Spend $40 and get a free DVD for Mom (esp good if you are fulfilling an acct w/2 DVD's)

By tomorrow they should have their act together, but the box set sale sounds good!

I put Las Vegas season 1 along with two of the free Dvds for mom and they both came up free. The total was $39.96 plus shipping, it might be related to the tax sale.

I also got one set (L&O Criminal Intent S3) and 2 of the DVDs for mom, used the $5 off and paid 39.96 + Shipping. I figure I really only paid the extra $4 shipping for the 2 free ones.

They still have the 10% off sale, so theoretically you could get two 19.95 DVDs from the 10% off sale, use the $5 off and the 2 free Mom DVDs and fulfill an account really cheaply.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is 50% off. AND it counts as three fulfillments.

So is the Warner Broadway Musicals Collection. You have to put them in your cart for the discount.

Thanks for the heads up! It seems that other titles also reflect 50% when added to the cart including the James Stewart Hollywood Legend Collection!! If only the Hitchcock Signature Collection would discount to 50%!!!!!!!!

They might mean 50% off the MSRP, as Gilmore Girls carries a MSRP on the site of $59.99 and after the discount is $29.99.

Thanks SFranke!

By the way, does anyone think this sale will still be going on a week from today when funcash redemption starts? After all, it is listed as a Mother's Day sale - and Mother's Day isn't until the middle of next month!

Only some of the sets come up at 50 % off when added to the cart. The rest just stay at the same price listed. One more set that is 50 % off is Sidney Poitier Collection. Can someone list all the DVDs that come up 50 % when added to the cart? Thanks.

Also there is a special of 3 DVDS for $25 at the top of my shopping cart. But the link just takes me to the Home Page. Maybe they are still in the process of setting this up and the website will update it by tomorrow. If this is like the previous deal then the 3 for $25 could count as 1 commitment. Hopefully !!

The James Stewart Hollywood Legend Collection is 50% off. The website says it counts as three fulfillments even though it's only $30. Does this sort of thing hold up in the grand scheme of things?

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I can't find any of the "free" DVD's that I would be willing to pay the $1.99 shipping for. I think CH has insulted my mom with this one....

EDIT: I spoke too soon. Upon further review, it looks like there are at least two that I have an interest in (Separate Tables and Misfits).

It probably will stand up BUT Columbia House recently "corrected" what they considered a FunCash error for A LOT of people about 2 weeks after purchasing the items. SO, the moral of the story is if the deal is likely an error keep the items sealed and in the mailing package in case they change their minds on what you agreed to at the checkout screen.

Just a DVD suggestion: "Radio Days." My friend let me borrow it and I loved it. Great movie. I'm 23 but I think if you lived during the actual radio days you might have a greater appreciation for the movie.

Yep - thanks. That and Smile also looked interesting to me. Since this deal extends to 5/5, I may cycle another account or two and pick up a few more. I need the funcash redemption to start so I can cash in and close my two current accounts.

Several people up here on the message boards have been able to cash in their FC by calling in the orders. The good thing about cashing in NOW as opposed to the 21st is that the OLD FC rules apply NOW. So, you can buy box sets in full. I called to see if I could cash in and I could, but I didn't have my order ready so I said I would call back when I got my order ready. I'm still wondering if you'll be able to cash in the FC AND get the 50% discount on those select box sets. I'm going to give it a try either later today or tomorrow.

Unfortunately, my two accounts have $10 and $14 in funcash, so I'll just be one of the bottom feeders picking up cheap titles. I can wait a week for that....

fyi: I LOVE LUCY: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON is being re-release in Slimboxes 7 dvd set on May 3rd for around 60 MSRP (that means less than 45 with 25%off), so 50% of current one is not a deal.
