Blacklistable offense? (Multiple copies)

If you pick up 2 copies of each of the available James Bond DVDs - and also get a Box Set vol 1 from DV2 which contains them - would this be considered more than 2 copies of those DVDs?

Also - do they look across ALL the different clubs - DVD, DV2, TV edition - when counting the number of copies you acquire? Or just all your account for the same type.

No and I don't know, but it is probably best not to find out the hard way.

When I can't come up with an educated answer, I just state the obvious. It has worked well...until now.

Not sure what you mean by that. I was hoping that perhaps someone would chime in who HAD picked up several of the same thing in DV2 and the regular club to tell whether or not they got blacklisted.

I don't see why the sarcasm, since your answer on point 2 wasn't terribly decisive.

I understand quite well the logic that just because someone did this and didn't get blacklisted, doesn't mean it couldn't happen - but if someone DID get blacklisted, then it would definitely be a bad idea.

I also wouldn't risk it. Also, be very careful of ordering 2 copies of a lot of titles. CH specifically says that they can blacklist you if the suspect that you're selling their titles.

It's pretty well-known on this board that you do pretty well reselling DVDs so I wouldn't risk stuff like that.

I have done pretty well reselling DVDs, but NOT ones I have purchased from CH - just ones I find in pawn shops, Blockbuster, Gamestop, etc. I have not abused the CH system (which is why I estimate owning almost 1000 titles by now, haven't counted in a while) - the only CH purchases I have sold were my sealed Blues Brothers after I found one at Gamestop, and my Casino after I heard of the new release coming. (I currently have a few sealed CH copies for sale on my trade list, because I found used copies of them at pawn shops or Gamestops).

I did, however pick up 2 copies of each available OOP James Bond title during the recent sale - one for me and one to trade or use as presents, they aren't selling high enough to make much profit on. I was considering picking up the Bond Box sets at DV2 with my funcash, which is the main reason I asked this question.

I'm just joking with you. I wasn't being argumentative, but I guess I wasn't clear. Sorry for the confusion.

gotcha.

To clear up my post, I didn't mean to accuse you of selling CH DVDs. It was more of a general statement. I know that there are a lot of members who sell the DVDs that they buy at CH, but I'm just warning them that it could lead to a blacklisting.

I didn't think you meant that - no offense was taken, I just wanted to clarify in case anyone reading got the wrong idea. I just wanted to point out that I was not trying to make a business out my CH memberships - IMO there is nothing wrong with selling an occasional one, I was very tempted to sell my spare Bonds for enough to pay for the ones I am keeping, but I would rather make my brother-in-law very happy for his birthday (they have been good to me in the past). OTOH, if they go up a lot in value from their current level of $14-16 each (Amazon) before his birthday comes, that could change . But I am a collector and movie addict first, and my Amazon selling is strictly a by-product of my addiction (other than the TV sets I have been buying during B2G1 sales at Gamestop specifically to sell - got X-files S8+9 and CSI S2 for $72+tax tonight, just couldn't pass them up). Even when I buy the TV sets to sell, I try to watch them first if I have time.

I used to work there back in the day. If you don't make it obvious, they really don't notice.

You can pick up more than two of a title during the Chrismas season because Columbia House knows people buy them as gifts then. But, in general, it is best to stick to no more than two, as others have said. Chances are that CH won't notice it but why take the chance?

There have been cases in the past with people ordering the same titles over and over for quite some time before the got they "business decision" letter.

For me, the important thing is to stay in good standing with Columbia House so I can continue to get new release single DVDs for $6 and sets for bargain prices well below those elsewhere. While I have had some trouble opening new accounts, as have many here, I have yet to be blacklisted after 50+ accounts. I'd like to keep it that way.

Why should Columbia House care what you are doing with your dvds as long as you are meeting their club requirements? If I buy something then I have every right to turn around and resell the item to someone else who wants it and is willing to pay the price. I feel that it would be a pain to try and make any gain in this manner, but for those who want to try I don't see why it should matter to CH.

This has been discussed numerous times before. Basically, the membership agreement states that the dvds are for personal use and not commercial use. CH is not a distributor for resellers, and the studios would take issue with them if they found out that CH was acting as a distributor.

Are Bond titles out of print now? Why would you want 3 of each?

Yes, they are OOP; as I said before, one for me, one for a gift, and the box set because the boxes are so cool (perhaps to trade or sell - I don't abuse CH but I am not a saint, have you checked the prices on those sets at Amazon lately?).
