Can anyone help straighten out the correct information on these "wonderful" on-line codes? HELP!!!

Side note: to Lizard & dadaluholla LOVE the little characters on your posts!!!!

But when a good code comes along that can be used by everybody, it gets posted here in the Clubs forum. So, there may not be anything good out there right now.

Those characters are called "smilies" and a link to a list of them is on the right side of the reply to thread message box.

Isn't that this thread? Still do not have the correct codes. ARGH!!!

I do not think there are currently any codes working. There is the 10% off comedies Specialty Shop, but there is no code required for that one. When someone gets a code in an email or mailer, they will post it here.

The code is in the upper left hand of the order form/card that has the Director's Selection on it. The standard one is buy one get 50% off the others, but once in a while something a lot better shows up and then you will hear about it here.

Let me editorialize a bit:

Using the best enrollment codes Columbia House is a superb deal even without using any special sale offers to fulfill. The current average DVD cost is about $5.86 each. While you can wait for a sale to come along to lower that a bit, why bother? Isn't $5.86 good enough?

Many of those new to CH get put off by the price of the fulfillments. They are forgetting about the nearly free enrollments they received. Fulfillment DVDs need to be looked at as a package. You can't get enrollments without the fulfillments. Here are the numbers for the current best codes:

Enrollment: 6 x 49¢ + $9.95 = $12.89 (7 DVDs)
Fulfillment: 2 x $19.95 + $4.98 (shipping) - $5 (web discount) = $39.88 (2 DVDs)
Total: $12.89 + $39.88 = $52.77 (9 DVDs)
Average: $52.77/9 = $5.86333

It isn't necessary to find a sale offer to get this price.

[Gets off soapbox...]

Don't forget about the deadly TAX.
Bleh.

I am going to wait for a b1g1 deal or free shipping.
Maximize your potential I say.

Codes are still working... you just need to know what they are :-)

If you check the code (by stopping the link before it loads full in your web browser) in the latest 60% email offer you'll see that code xx6065 currently works. So codes are working but the trick of course if figuring out what they are. There was a group effort recently that yielded some positive and then negative (funcash anyone?) results. Maybe someone will organize another code hunt in the near future...

--

edit: I'd just like to add that Lizard's comments really are spot on. A lot of us have become so obsessed with lowering our cost per DVD average that we sometimes lose sight of the incredible deal we're getting. Sure CH has it's quirks but right now just using the best code available with no other tricks you'll be getting DVDs for under $6 a pop. Last time I checked that's a heckuva deal! :-)

One more "me too" for Lizard's comments. I thought $7.16 was a great deal. $5.86 is icing on the cake. What the heck does Blockbuster charge these days just to rent one? (guessing about $3.99 plus tax - plus, their selection is pretty much "popular" stuff released in the last 5 years or so)

I would guess you have to figure out what the first 2 numbers are!

That particular code was only in effect for a couple of days. I got it from an email promotion. Most "ordinary" codes -- the one's you get with the regular offer mailings from CH last a month or so. The first two numbers of CH codes are meaningless... they all get you the same offer, which is determined by the last four numbers. So 226065, 816065, and 936065 all get you the same thing, ergo code xx6065... which only would have worked if you tried the code the day I posted it or the day after (I forget when the 60% offer ended). Hope this helps!

First 2 numbers may be useless but its better to use correct ones, or else CH may come back (after you have opened dvds!) saying its not their code.

I really don't think that would happen?

Well, CH can't legally charge your card for a higher price after they've shown you one price. But they can remove any Funcash you've earned, as was the case two weeks ago. Also, CH could potentially cancel your orders, but in the amount of time it would take them to identify a problem, you would have already watched the DVDs you ordered. All of these cases are very uncommon, though.

This is news to me. CH may have BS'd some customers saying the codes weren't real but obviously they were or the website wouldn't take them, and people like me didn't have any problems using them. It was just one step they took in trying to fix their error when people were pissed their funcash was taken away from them.

As usual with CH your mileage may vary but there really is no problem using the xx format for codes. The only reason CH made a stink recently was because one particular code and their triple funcash offer had a glitch when combined together and they got hit with huge amounts of funcash which they obviously didn't want to own up to.

When the next free shipping code comes out as say 826787... you will be fine using xx6787, but if you are uncomfortable certainly go ahead and use the same code everyone else is using. If you ask me this may prompt them to pull the code quicker if everyone is using the exact same code... but then again it may not matter at all :-) With CH it's a crap shoot on just about every issue that pops up!

801051 is for $10 extra funcash with a $45 order (not as good as 801050 which is $10 funcash for $35 order).

801050 is still working. It also stacks with the $5 off first web order. I used both today.

moonraker - thanks for the info!

I just placed a fulfillment order using 801050 and it worked for me too. I bought two of the Universal Monster legacy collections ($20.21 each) and got $14 in funcash. That is actually enough to be worth something (either a $9.95 DVD for $2.99 shipping or a $14.95 DVD for $3.94 - 2.99 shipping plus the extra .95 cents). Also got one of those "free for mom" DVD's for $1.99 extra shipping. $5 off first time web worked as well.

So, it looks like 42.39 + 12.89 + 3.94 = 59.22 / 11 DVDs = $5.38 per

Enter the site through this link www.columbiahouse.com/webdvd . You'll have the $5 discount applied if you haven't already used it on your account yet.

Make sure you pay full price for Blazing Saddles so that counts for a fulfillment. Also, you might want to save The Last Boy Scout for when a Free Shipping sale comes along. Of course, if your shipping for this order is $15 without it, then you might as well get it now.

a) log out from wherever you're at

b) login at this URL:

www.columbiahouse.com/webdvd

c) click the "looking for the offer in your mailing?" link near the top of the page

d) input savings code 801050

e) go to your cart

f) clear out everything but the Monk and Blazing Saddles

g) if you need more than one fulfillment on this account, select the link in the cart and tell them you want to buy one more at regular price (this should change the Blazing Saddles back to $19.95 counting toward commitment

h) click the "free gift for mom" link at the top of the page

i) find that "ya ya" title and click add to cart

j) go to your cart - just before the total you should see both the $5 web discount and a $7.48 discount so the "ya ya" is free

k) obtain the last boyscout in your next enrollment

Let us know if that works.

Try calling and explaining the situation. I did that today, after I canceled an order because I forgot to use the Funcash promo code and couldn't get the $5 coupon to work again. In the process, I got an extra $5 off because my story must have confused the CSR.
