I dunno if it's the same in Canada, but do they try to get you to rejoin when you are on the phone with them cancelling the membership? Since we don't have as good of codes as Americans, I'd do it and have numbers of titles ready when I do it.

I can't even do that. For the last 2 months, if I use their help form, I get a "return to sender" reject email.

Ditto. Took 2 days for me also.

This is now the way to go to cancel! Beats the annoying sales pitches, and other hoops to jump through on the phone.

Can't you just go the FAQ listing.. down at #15.. "How do I cancel my membership?".. there's a link to a Membership Cancellation Information page. Click on that, give a reason, and its DONE.

That's the way I've always gone.. and I just used it day before yesterday. Got a cancellation confirmation email within a half day. Just checked, and that account is a goner.

You must have had an older account or something.

All I said in an email to customer service was "Please close account the account number. Thank you."

And there was no problems.

I only have 1 open acct now. And it's fulfilled. Hopefully, the email will work again. Once that acct is closed, I think I'm gonna take a break from ch. At least to let some enrollment titles build up again. There isn't much left that I want right now.

Everytime I tried to cancel my membership by using contact us, it came up to call. I changed the topic to fulfillment requirments, then typed in cancel my membership. Will this work?

I dont really want to talk to them.

It should. That's the way I've been doing it.

Can definitely understand not wanting to talk to them, but sometimes we all have to do things we don't want to; to get something done...

Whenever I cancel I just tell them, they need more Criterion titles to keep me on as a member. Who knows? If more people also called and said this, maybe they might start carrying more.

Come on guys, it wasn't that much of a pain calling them to cancel... the phone call took me a total of 2 minutes and 3 seconds.

-Called the number, pressed #1, #5, #5
-punched in my acct #.
-Told them my name / address
-Said I wanted to cancel my account
-"Do you want to stay on with order only program blah blah" : no thank you.
-"We also offer $40 in gas blah blah" : no thanks
-have a nice day.

Cake.

Edit - Call #2 took 3 minutes and 18 seconds. Definitely worth listening to the BS imo.

That's what I did. Next day they emailed back saying they were sorry I wanted to cancel, but that they would cancel my account.

The enrollment website only works with IE (or browsers that can masquerade as IE). It has been this way for some time. Used to be that you could use another browser but would get an error message when trying to place the order. Now they just flag it right up front.

I would always cite lack of titles as the reason for quitting. I mentioned the lack of Buena Vista and Fox titles, and one CSR (who was either very misinformed or just lying his ass off) insisted I remain a member to wait for titles from those studios to appear.
