They must have really cleared out some inventory during their 4 for $30 sale this spring - in March I picked up The Blues Bros, Apollo 13 and The Grifters (which is a Miramax title), none of which are available any more.

Yup, that was probably it, around june. I remember around that time contemplating getting Apollo 13, but then noticing it was OOP, so I decided to hold off for a re-release which I thought would have been announced already. Oh well!

Life (Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence) is now missing.

Also, Fletch is another one of the OOP titles that has been missing for a while.

Can someone please tell me how I can get a list of all the Universal and Fox titles that CH currently has available?
...or can someone just e-mail the list to me, or post it here?
THANKS,
Dave

Columbia House DVD titles in a spreadsheet

Save the most recent list (though it is a few weeks old now) and you you can sort by studio and any number of other ways.

I'm just seeing a big list of titles and info. How do I sort them??
(Sorry, as far as computer literacy is concerned, I'm about at the 4th grade level.)

Once you have the list opened in a spreadsheet you can sort the list. In Excel the option is under the Data menu ("Sort"). You can sort by several factors in succession. I usually sort by price, then enrollment status, then by title (alphabetizes the movie names).

In your case, you want to sort by "Studio". That would cause the list to be alphabetized by Studio, i.e. all the Fox titles would be clustered together, all the Universal titles clustered together. If your second sort option is "Title" the DVDs for each Studio will be alphabetized. (You could also sort by price as the second option.)

Here are some more MIA titles. All were present on the 11/02 data miner.

Fox
Dying Young
Great Expectations
The Hustler
L'Auberge Espagnole
The Longest Day
Love is a Many-Splendored Thing
M*A*S*H Five-Star
Miller's Crossing
My Bodyguard
The Paper Chase
Romancing the Stone
Tora! Tora! Tora!

Universal
October Sky - re-release in Jan.
Slap Shot/Slap Shot 2 double pack

I believe Slap Shot is OOP but some stores still carry the 2-pack. With luck Slap Shot 2 will come in an Amaray or M-Lock

I'm glad I've gotten in 6 3 for 25 orders containing mostly Fox and Universal titles.

Meet the Parents CE and Brotherhood of the Wolf are also missing, but they may be OOP because Amazon lists both as out of stock.

Heads up: I have further evidence suggesting the demise of Universal and Fox titles at CH. On Tuesday, I placed a 6-for-50 fulfillment order entirely comprised of Universal and Fox titles. Yesterday evening, one (Patton) had disappeared entirely from my order and two more (Being John Malkovich and Monty Python's Meaning of Life) were showing "awaiting stock". My last occurance of a Fox title showing awaiting stock ultimately was changed to "no longer available". That's a 50% success rate folks. Fortunately, I think I'm done with these titles until such time as CH improves this situation.

Well, sure enough, tonight "Being John Malkovich" has disappeared from my on-line order summary, leaving only the Monty Python title as "awaiting stock". What do you think - tomorrow?? (i.e. when it will also go away)

Fletch Lives is still available, but Fletch has been OOP for some time.

It actually took two days but, as expected, Monty Python MOL has now disappeared from my order record and also CH's website. I think it is safe to conclude at this point that Fox and Universal titles are in fact on the way out, and going quickly. I will probably just skip the last two on my wish list (Grapes of Wrath and Lost Weekend), as I don't like the way these things are confusing my orders.

On a positive note, I just got off the phone with one of the most pleasant CSR's I've talked to at CH. She made the usual correction to my fulfillment totals to reflect the 3-for-25 set that I did receive and also credited me back $5 for the first time web discount (this had been placed against one of the titles that disappeared).

D'oh! If I would have seen this thread 10 minutes earlier, I would've gotten a different title for my B1G1 free selection.

Hopefully the Fox and Universal titles will be back soon or at least most of the remaining will last a while...

I just called up today to find out why Patton was removed from my order, I got the "we're no longer carrying that item, you can order a replacement." So I picked out "They Live", it's a Universal title so I wanted to get it before it goes. I asked will I get free shipping and the discounted price to what it would be with the 3 for $25 deal since all I'm doing is replacing Patton, he said sure and spent time supossedly fixing it. I just checked my order status, the idiot charged me $8.95 + $2.99 in shipping! He did however transfer my $12 in funcash from another account into the account in question. You can't win them all I guess.

Adrenaline - it was worth a try. I'm always concerned with the risk in situations like that. OTOH: after you get your shipment, you might be successful in calling back and requesting a credit of $3.61. That usually works for me about half the time on the first try.

Well this is quite promising. Now let's get Fox and Mirimax back in the fold.

good news! I hope this means that the rest of the Universal titles and the Fox titles show up again, seems quite likely. I'll have to keep my eye open for new pre-orders next week. On a side note, I doubt Miramax titles will ever be back - disney just sux.
