Spider-Man 2: Put the power of DVD Talk to work
I just logged into my account and submitted a "you asked for it" request for a Spider-Man 2 preorder. In the comments section, I said something like "List this as a preorder, and you might sell one or two. Otherwise, I'll probably go to Wal-Mart. Thank you."
If you have the time, go to your accounts and do the same. It takes all of about 1 minute. The "you asked for it" link is in the list on the left hand side of the DVD club home screen after you log in.
Thanks, and feel free to think that I have too much time on my hands.

Columbia House seems to have lost the contract to carry DVDs from some studios as pre-orders. Sony/Columbia/Tristar DVDs like Spiderman2 might be among them. It may appear at CH after release day.
While it can't hurt to put in the request, you can be assured that CH knows that this DVD would be very popular if they could get it.

I have to assume that if CH has the rights to list Spider-Man 2 as a preorder, they will. They know damn well this will be one of the biggest selling DVDs of the year.
1 e-mail or 100,000 e-mails won't matter. Either they have it or they don't.

Spiderman two is owned by Columbia which in turn should mean that a company owned by them(COLUMBIA HOUSE) should have that DVD sold as their first priority. I wish they were like 2 years ago when everything was perfect and they had almost every company supporting them.

Sony only owns a small share of Columbia House. However, they do own the entirety of Columbia, SC, Columbia University, and the as well as the former space shuttle Columbia.

well, i dont know how CH handle other movies like SM2 that wasnt for preorder but was available later on. but i think if its available during the intial week of the release than it would be 19.99 just like any other dvd for preorder. and after that 21.95 afterwards.

I'll be in line to order this release if it is indeed available next week. I'm thinking this plus another 3-for-25 (for the free shipping). Even if this is 21.95, the average is still great!
17.40 + 21.95 + 25 - 5 = 59.35 / 10 = $5.94 per DVD

I am planning to give my brother-in-law the 24 season 1 I picked up at blockbuster. Is it tacky to give used DVDs as a present if they are in like-new condition?

Nice to see it, but a little weird in that you still (at this time) can't search for it by title. Even if you click on an actors' link under the name, the title doesn't show up for them. Weird.

Rang up for $19.99. Hopefully they'll make an effort to get them out quickly since they couldn't put them up for preorder.
Either way, looks like it worked out.

I don't see the gift set - does anyone know if they will carry it?
Edit : I answered my own question with a phone call - they do carry it, though it doesn't come up on the website - selection #3442407.

The CSR said the sale price for the gift set is $37.46 - I guess this is the standard 25% off box set. She also said I could request to have the price raised to $39.95 to qualify for 2 commitments.
Has anyone else had luck doing this?
