All in all, it worked out just fine, but I get nervous any time extra communication is required to resolve an issue with CH.

Nice! But you are right on your last sentence.

I talked to a woman at website help yesterday who told me to just place the order then call them back and they would correct the commitment issue. The hardest part of the call was convincing the not-so-sharp Indian CSR I initially spoke to that I really needed to talk to web help.

Adrenaline 11-10-04 01:49 PM

Just got off the phone with the CSR as my 2 accounts that I thought would be fufilled didn't with the 6 $8.95 DVDs.

He didn't complain or anything, I then said I have another account that needed fixing too. He said sure. It's nice when they don't say "oh you need to buy X amount more to fufill you commitment."

Time to close them and start over again, I'm getting 2 accounts a week opened and closed now :)

ga_con 11-10-04 02:59 PM

hehehe :) looks like I am not the only one who has more than 2 accounts opened at the same time.

Wow! That is fast turn around. I am slow at the moment, but I just realized that paying by the "Bill Me Option" is what is slowing it down.

Adrenaline 11-10-04 03:57 PM

There's just so many good movies to get out of the $8.95 sale with free shipping and all. $62.40 for 12 movies is an excellent deal.

Big Worms 11-10-04 04:09 PM

I agree!

Here's the next chapter in my 3for25 experience:

To recap, I confirmed via email with CH that each 3 for 25 would count as a fulfillment despite the fact the website was showing only one out of three counting as .33/.34 credit.

I ordered six on 11/5. Five of the six shipped a few days ago with the last one showing "awaiting stock" (uh-oh). Then the "awaiting stock" title (seven year itch) disappeared entirely (more cause for concern). The web account summary consistently showed zero fulfillment credits earned.

I called today and the first CSR confirmed seven year itch was no longer available and said she would give me one credit for the first set of three and could sell me one more title to get my second credit. I requested clarification - "will I only be charged 8.33 plus free shipping since that is what I tried to do before?" (always request clarification with CH -smile-). "Um - I'll have to check on that....... (click-click)". Cut off.

Round two: calling back I got one of those CSR's who is likely in another country. In this case, it wasn't a problem. I told him I ordered six in good faith to fulfill the account and it should now be fulfilled. He put me on hold and then came back and said "no problem, I'll adjust the account so it will now be fulfilled." Again, I repeated it back "I just want to confirm; this account will now be fullfilled?" He said yes.

So, again, a few minutes on the phone fixes the problem. Same lesson we've learned numerous times, but worth repeating for the newbies. I'll pass along when my account summary says "fulfilled".

EDIT: Running the numbers - 17.40 + 36.67 / 11 = $4.92. I've broken the elusive $5 mark!!!

It seems like that they take awhile to send out your titles under the 3 for 25. Is this correct? I placed an order on Wed 11/10 and I received an email with a summary of my order. I just checked today on the web site and they are still showing up in my cart. Is this the same experience that other people are having or did something else mess up?

Don't trust what is in your cart - I have had 20 DVDs in my cart, whittled them down to the 6 I wanted to order, placed the order, then logged back in later and the 20 DVDs are back in my cart.

Big Worms 11-12-04 12:51 PM

Even if I went through the whole checkout process is what you are saying?

Yes - as I said, I placed the order, came back later, and the cart was full again. The order should go through.

^^^Thanks!

This seems to be what most people are experiencing regarding this deal:

3 for $25 = 1 commitment: not working on the web page, but a simple phone call or email after the order is placed should correct the problem.

viking99 11-13-04 11:09 AM

My account is now fulfilled (and closed) despite the CH glitches (see my previous post above). As others have suggested, it seemed to help that I told the CSR exactly what I wanted him to do. Basically, I told him I ordered two sets of 3 for 25 in a good faith attempt to fulfill the account and that it should now be fulfilled despite the fact that they only shipped five with the sixth being no longer available. I'll submit another application next week and probably use the same fulfillment approach. It would be nice if they could fix their system so as to save us the phone call, however a simple phone call is a small price to pay to get DVD's at $5.20 each.

Has anyone had a 6 for 50 fulfillment work automatically lately (i.e. without a phone call or email)?

Scroll to the bottom of the home page and you should still see it.

Wish they would fix this on their website. The phone call is a little bit of a pain. But hey I managed. :)

I bought a 21.95 title and 3x25. Only the 21.95 title counted as a commitment so I send them an email. They email me back to assure me that they will correct the mistake and that my account is now fulfilled. I just check my account and it still says I need 1 to fulfill. I am going to give them a day or two before a email them again or call.

kevin7215 11-17-04 06:40 PM

I had the same problem with my account. I had to sent two e-mails, but it was finally corrected.

Big Worms 11-17-04 06:54 PM

Pain in the ass. I know it turns out to be worth it, but damn. It seems like it was done on purpose so that only if you call or email them about it will they do something.

vcurams2k2 11-18-04 12:25 AM

has anybody had success with the 3/25 fulfilling 3 commitements... therefore purchasing 9-$14.95 as of late?

i was thinking about opening several accounts after quiting CH for a while. if so, i wont pickup the 6th dvd like i normally do and fulfilling 3 commitements with the 3/25 deal. it would dramatically bring down the cost per dvd that way.

If you consider 3 cents per DVD dramatic.

The problem is - with free shipping and the $5 webdvd discount, the average is only $5.20 when you buy the $14.95 selection. With the 3/$25 sale, you are basically getting 2 more DVDs for $10.05 - not much of a savings.

ga_con 11-18-04 09:00 AM

3-for-25 counts as 1 commitment as of this morning. However, I had to put in my cart a boxset in order to make it. All my pre-orders (Troy, Collateral, ...) disappear :( No idea, no email, no explanations.
