BZW requires a PSN.. and I got BWJ yesterday, same deal.
|
I have used personal savings codes for my last two on-line applications. I submitted my orders but never received e-mails confirming my membership acceptance. Since these orders were submitted almost five weeks ago, should I assume that my memberships were denied (I called customer service but they were unable to help me)? Do you always get a timely e-mail when a membership has been accepted?
Thanks~ |

Remarkably, I just received acceptance on two applications I had sent in a week or so ago! However, I have already acquired a few of the titles I ordered elsewere. Is CH good about acceptings returns for alternate titles, and if so what is the procedure?
Thanks~ |

Thanks~ The best thing to do with the DVDs you no longer want is to give them away or sell them. Less hassle and less risk of having future accounts denied. Yes, I know that the membership agreement says that you can return DVDs within ten days. But if you take advantage of that policy you aren't the sort of customer they want. Summary: if it wasn't a CH mistake, keep the DVDs and dispose of them however you please. My 2¢. |
How the hell did you make that cent symbol. I want one.
|
press and hold the ALT key and then using the number keys on the right type 155 and let go of the ALT key

http://www.starr.net/is/type/altnum.htm However, I have been unable to type them directly in a DVD Talk window using Firefox and have to copy and paste the symbols from some other page, such as Word. (Firefox uses Alt+number commands to switch pages. Damned annoying, actually, because I have been typing some of these symbols for many years and do it without thinking.) And while I am at it, typing Alt+15 in a Word document gives ☼ *, another character I have used in posts. I put favorites on a sticky note on my monitor: • (bullet) Alt+0149 º (degree) Alt+167 ¢ Alt+155, Alt+0162 ½ Alt+0189 ¼ Alt+0188 ¾ Alt+0190 © Alt+0169 — (long dash) Alt+0151 ☼ Alt+15 * ñ Alt+164 (I live on a street with the Spanish letter eñe in the name) Ñ Alt+165 é Alt+130, e.g. Amélie í Alt+161, e.g. María Have fun! * The Alt-15 character displays as a sun symbol in Firefox and Mozilla. But it just gives a placeholder box in Internet Explorer. Don't know why. |
Interesting...™

You can also use the Character Map utility on Windows (in Program -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map). Find the character you're after and click on it. For example, if you click on é, you can either click on Select to put it in the Characters to Copy text box then Copy to stick it on the clipboard or if you look in the lower right, you see the Alt code to type (if one exists). So Alt+0233 is another way to get to the é character.

Hello all. New here and just wanted to say thanks for all the info with CH codes and everything. I have had a CH account in the past, and have one now that is one year old. I had no idea about all these different codes and how you can stop and restart your account right away.
Just wanted to say that I used the code 1KJ 3 days ago and got my email today saying I was approved. No PSN or credit card was needed. Got the 6 @ .49 and one at $9.95 and only have 2 left to buy. Just wanted to let you know and to say thanks again for all the information. |
Is anyone else having any problems with the codes.
I keep entering them and just getting the 5 for 49c offer with another at $14.95 I entered 1KJ which has been successful in the past, but to no avail. I've even cleared out my cookies |
I just entered C7L and the offer came up correctly. This code is as good as it gets and I was approved just last week with this code. You may want to give it a shot.:)
|
C7L worked for me as well last week...plus that code worked without phoning it in, I haven't had an "online" submittal go through in like 4 months...just did another one yesterday for the Batman movies, my fingers are crossed!!
|
That seems like great advice. Because I want to be able to open more accounts with them, I'll just keep the titles and sell them on eBay. Thanks for your input~

I agree with lizard on this about returns except when they start shipping out "lost" applications that turn out duplicate dvds/sets. I received one of these and shipped it back with a request list for exchange titles. I hope that this is the only time that I have to do it.

^I would hope that Columbia House would consider the very late approval of those old applications to be their own mistake.

Been playing with other things that I can do with the data miner program and decided to look at enrollment savings codes. While I don't have it completely working yet, I did find an interesting new one that I have not seen anyone mention. K7L. It is 5 for $0.49 (free S&H), 6th one for $14.95 (free S&H) and only 1 to buy.
5 @ 0.49 = $2.45 + $14.95 + $19.95 + $2.99 S&H - $5 (Webdvd) = $35.34 7 DVDs @ $5.05 each! |

K7L used in conjuction w/ a $30~ box set used as the fufillment can be a nice deal
|
K7L is different for me
K7L states this for me in the box at the bottom:
You get 6 DVDs for 49¢s with Free Shipping As a Club member, all you need to do is buy 3 more movies in the next 2 years at regular Club prices (currently as low as $19.95 plus shipping and processing). You may cancel anytime thereafter. If you take a 7th movie now for $9.95 with Free Shipping, you will only have to buy 2 more movies (instead of 3) in the next 2 years! You can even take a 8th movie for the special price of $9.95 with Free Shipping. But it doesn't appear to drop another commitment. Hmmmm You will receive a free DVD Club magazine about every 4 weeks, as well as some Special Selection mailings. That will give you up to 17 buying opportunities per year! If you want the Director's Selection, do nothing ---it will be sent automatically. If you prefer an alternate selection, more selections or none at all, just visit our website or mail the response card so we receive it by the date specified. You will always have at least 10 days to decide. If not, and you receive an unwanted Director's Selection, you may return it at our expense and we will credit your account. Your introductory package is sent on a 10-day trial basis and includes complete details and your Membership Agreement. If you are not completely satisfied, to cancel your membership just return that package at our expense within 10 days, and we will credit your account. Offer limited to customers of the contiguous United States and may be withdrawn at any time. Residents of Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, APO and FPO addresses, please write or e-mail us for a separate offer. (Tax added in states where applicable.) All applications are subject to review. Columbia House reserves the right to request additional information, to reject any application or to cancel any membership. If your application is accepted, your membership is subject to the terms and conditions of our Membership Agreement, which we will send you with your introductory package. |
K7L states this for me in the box at the bottom: |
K7l
ok, thanks. I usually am. zag
|
You have to make sure you start a new browser every time u change the codes. You were probably still seeing the details for a previous code u entered.
|
Better code
I did. I got it now. Thanks, as always, for the help. zag

Does that mean your first order per account , or can it only be used only one time per customer? |
