Click on the 'preview selections' link. There are some good choices/prices under the TV sets. This may be worth some more investigation just for the box sets.

This could be a good deal for those that buy quite a few box sets each year. Many of their sets at 40% off are well below anyplace else on the internet. While the non-box set prices are well above what we normally average with our accounts, people that buy new releases each week from places like DDD could probably save quite a bit of money over the course of the year.

Jim- I believe your link does not get you the "free DVD" that using the original link will do. I agree, could be a cool way to get some good deals on boxed sets and with free shipping. Thanks for starting this thread, thanador.

Ok, set me see if I have this straight....

Step 1 - Pay $9.95 to "join" and get a free DVD, with free S&H.

Step 2 - Buy one DVD (at least $19.99) with free S&H and you have fullfilled your account.

By my math, with regular movies, the best you could hope for would be around a $15 average for 2 movies!

Does anyone know what your choices are for that "free movie" they mention? I'd be very (pleasantly) surprised if you could pick up those TV box sets for only $9.95 and then only have to buy a $19.95 movie to fullfill.

I guess we need someone to take the plunge!

I understand it to be every DVD is at least 40% off including the one DVD per year you are required to buy. I went ahead and just signed up and have received an email back from DV2 saying that, "Just to let you know where things stand, we are reviewing your application and the enrollment process should take about a week." The only "suprise" I found signing up was that there was a very limited amount of DVD's to pick my free pick from:

Go to the regular Columbia House Web site. Enter in the code "HDX" which is from the link I provided above. Looks like this gets you 2 enrollment DVDs for $9.95 (total) with one more to buy at the 40% off price. I've enrolled using this method, will keep everyone informed.

Say, can anyone who signs up check to see if they're offering Babylon 5? I need seasons 4 & 5 to complete my set and if they're at 40$ off, it will be worth it, especially with free shipping.

Only if there are 2 dvds out of those 50 listed above that you're interested in. The enrollment selections don't seem so great to me, but I'm interested to see how this all pans out as well.

The enrollment selections if you enter the code at the standard CH web site are the same enrollment selections as always. I chose JFK SE and Looney Toones Premiere Collection.

If you're referring to my question about the Babylon 5 box sets, these are Warner Bros. and are available on the regular site.

This doen't sound like a good deal to me. You would be better off ordering box sets as fullfillments on a regular account during free shipping. The relative costs are far less than the 40% off you would deal you would get from this club. As far as regular movies goes, even the 14.95 movies @ 40% would still be 8.97, that's $2 more than the 6.81 avg w/ a 67pd type account. I'll pass on this one. I notice it says that box sets are at least 40% off. If some of them are say 60% off, then it might be worth it to join this club. Until then i'll stick to the old method.
