Very lucky for now apperantly, I thought people were starting to get accts through but I guess I was wrong. As long as I don't get screwed for having so many accts open I'm happy. btw these accounts were opened with DEC and E7H

On more than one occasion, I've had orders that just "never went through." No letters to tell me I've been declined, just nothing happened -- no credit card charge, no nothing. This happened a few times with web orders, and twice with phone orders. Is this common?
Over the last 2 1/2 years this has happened to me about 4 or 5 times from attempted phone enrollments (my preferred method of enrollment). I just watched for that CC charge and tried again after a week or so.

In regards to my declined account letter I will add that I recently combined Fun Cash from 8 previous accounts into one and I had a fullfillment package lost in the mail that was replaced after the obligitory 30 day waiting period. Perhaps either one of these events may be the root of my "business decsion" letter. Or, I could simply chaulk it up to another CH clerical error on par with the disapearing phone enrollment.

I doubt that as I'm the one who started the fun cash combining, and got about $200 worth of fun cash togethor and I never got a letter and have several accounts open now.

Well, the FC combining can't be what my problems are/were as I never attempted it. However, after getting one of those "We Want You Back" emails from CH, I replied to it with the following -

You must not want me back too bad. I have submitted applications on 4 different occasions (8-26, 9-15, 9-28 & 10-01-2003) and have gotten one denial letter (8-26 - acct #5036xxxxxxx) & no response on the 3 others(as of yet).

Previously, I would submit an application and get an approval response within 3-5 days. Now nothing.

Whatever has changed in the application/approval process since early August 2003 ISN'T working!!!!

If you want me back, approve my applications that I have already submitted.

That was back on 10-5. Today, I got this response -

Thank you for your e-mail message.

Re: 5036xxxxxxx

We appreciate you responding to our offer.

Due to an error, your application was not accepted.
Please disregard the letter you have been issued. A
membership has now been established for you and the
enrollment shipment will soon be sent. Please allow
sufficient time for delivery.

In the event prepayment was submitted, a refund has
been issued. Please endorse the refund check and
return it with a copy of this e-mail message and the
invoice which will accompany the enrollment shipment.
If credit card billing was requested, your account
will be charged at the time of shipment. Otherwise,
please remit payment upon receipt of your order.

Please accept our apology for any misunderstanding.

If we may be of further service, please let us know.

Sincerely,
Lois Ellington

Got my "Welcome to the DVD Club" email this AM as a result of the above post/email.

Kinda strange tho, the account & titles look like someone hand re-entered them. The "source" for the account says "prodigy" instead of the normal "phone" or such. And the titles themselves are listed @ $.00 w/one "unknown title" listed @ $2.45.

Must be a low of manual engineering going on @ CH??

Anyways, now I was finally able to order my DS9: S3 like I had planned to with this account. One down, so many more to go.

FWIW, you can get blacklisted via TV Greats as well... though I don't believe this is common knowledge.

Is this from ordering/cancelling the same title or just frequent ordering/cancelling regardless of titles?

"Prodigy" means that the order was adjusted by a CSR.

You are fortunate that you were able to get someone to give you the order. She might be "out of the loop" when it comes to policy changes about the codes we are using. But I am just guessing of course.

Thanks for the lingo definition. Now I just hope that 2 of my other enrollments DON'T go thru as they were basically duplicates of the resurrected order.

Both attempts were over the net, I got refused when I tried a 23E over the phone (got the "but we can mail you an application" line); it was a regular (Panamanian) CSR, not the new order phone line people. Which number do you call for new orders?

However...

...I just got an enrollment package from a mail-in "we want you back" application. It is one of the ubiquitous 1Y* codes, the equivalent of a 7cy (average $8.65 per DVD), but I'm happy just to have any new account!

Yes, KennyBoy, what phone number and code did you use most recently. I am at the point of trying over the phone, although all my past accts/attempts have been via the web.

I just got a letter from CH saying that my membership was rejected. Here's the catch, though: I didn't apply. They called me and offered me a membership. I know that's a no-no, but many people were getting rejected, and I figured this was my best chance. I dont' know what their problem is, but it seems like it is getting a little out of control.

I am glad I just read this thread. I have applied 5 times of the last month or so, and nothing. I have tried many codes, phone and web. I have not received any letters or e-mails rejecting me, just have never gotten anything. Looks like it might be a whole bunch of us

shine, I see you're a new member, are you also new (fairly new) to CH, had a low number of accounts, or have you had a lot of accounts, like over 20 or more?

I have been on this forum for about a year and a half reading, registered about a year ago. I have had probably about 25 accounts in the last 1 1/2 years. I have a ton of DVD's now thanks to the forum. I had not ordered any in a month or so until recently, and then no dice. I was trying to get my Holiday shopping completed

Thanks,
- Scott

Same for me.

I've had about 25 accounts in the past 1.5 years. My two accounts in early September were both 1 day approvals, and both had the discs at my door in under a week. I used the web to open a new account last Tuesday, and have heard NOTHING. At this point, I'm expecting nothing, I just figured I'd try.

A co-worker, who also has had about 25 accounts in the past year, has had his last 4 attempts go unanswered, from mid-September on.

It's certainly their right to not give us accounts, but it would be nice if they would say something. Tell us why. Tell us the rules. How many accounts is too many? How often is too often?

I chalk it up to the great mystery of Columbia House. Part of the fun and games.

I probably had about 30 accounts from Jan 02 thru June 03. By then I had everything I wanted and have only had two memberships since. I guess the pre-June activity was enough to get me blacklisted, as I have applied four times since late September with no luck. My next app will be through a different address to see if that helps.

I have had about 24 accts since January. I have had many attempts just disappear since mid-Sept. I got one acct opened when Customer Service intervened a couple weeks ago. But stil can't get a second account opened.
