Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

I misread the post as a lightning deal at $99.99 and considered getting it. Was shocked to see the actual price.

Geff, based on your recommendation I decided to pick it up too. I got it new from eBay for $16.99 shipped and no tax, unlike Amazon. I'm looking forward to checking it out. Not the world's biggest Fuller fan, but I do have interest in his early writing efforts. Plus sooner of later sets like this will disappear and command high bucks before the format dies.

Guess I should have waited! But I'm reasonably happy (-: I am having trouble getting into Red Kimono so far, but the first 5 have all been decent.

Wow, that Scooby Doo set looks getable. Do you guys think that will hit Blu-ray anytime soon?

I'm sure there are some who smile recalling the time they picked that Looney Tunes set up for $10 years ago at Big Lots. And there's many who are like me, experiencing a degree of sadness over never coming across it.

I was one who didn't find LT, though in those days, I was hitting 5 or 6 different BL's a week & 2 of them were letting me go through stock before it hit the floor. Those were the days.........

No. It was BL. IIRC they hit around the same time as the Wonder Woman complete set, also for $10.

I got the Wonder Woman set as part of the $2 box set Black Friday a few years ago.

I think the LT sets were $10, but I know the WW set was $6, because I got one .

Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

We must be thinking of 2 separate batches. One year for Black Friday, they got a ton of dirt cheap box sets. I spent well over $1k on that sale.

I just know it was "dirt cheap" and recalled it being about the same as the LT set - none made it to the store here (or were snapped up before I saw them - unlikely at the time). I finally wound up picking up a copy from Amazon for $30, which while good is nothing like the bargain BL had. LT didn't show up here either but I'd already purchased all the sets individually at ~$10 each so didn't care as much.

Over at Amazon UK, as long as one of my credit cards says " Eurocard" next to it I will not incur a fee, correct?

44-film John Wayne collection is $60 in the gold box today. It's a Warner set so not just the usual public-domain stuff like McKlintock.

Night Gallery: Season 1 - 10.99

Night Gallery: Season 2 - $10.49

Night Gallery: Season 3 -- 11.49

Never been this cheap, but I'm wondering if I should hold out a bit longer (and of course tax adds about a buck). Still solid prices.

I loved the show when it first aired and I was an adolescent, but since then I haven't been too impressed when seeing it again. Probably worth it at these prices just for nostalgia. Thanks for posting.

Is the first season on those dreaded DVD-18s?

Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

I was gonna post those. No dvd18s. Season 1 is on 3 dvd9s, 90+ min pilot, 6 eps then 2 bonus eps from the other sets. That's not a lot and there is some rampant digital clicking on the audio for one ep. Season 3 is just 2 dvd9s, the only one I don't have. But Season 2 is stacked, 5 dvd9s, 22 50min eps. A couple discs have 5x50 min on a dvd9, which is kinda crammy.

Paid 20 each for 1 and 2 and never see them discounted often except for these amazon universal price dips. Trying to justify buying S3 to replace my burns.

discs made in mexico in blue ink on back of season 2

Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

Edward G Robinson stars in one episode (imo the best American male actor of his generation), so I had to buy it!

Thank you for the detailed information!

I don't know, I may follow Moo's lead and at least get S2 for the great EGR episode. That was the season I really liked and remember. S1 and S3 are just a blur. In watching the series again when Encore Mystery aired it, I could see the low end Universal production values bursting at the seams, stuff I never noticed as a kid. Maybe I could overlook that if the stories are great, but Serling himself was so negative about the entire experience and the finished product, I just don't know how it holds up beyond nostalgia.

EDIT: Dammit, I bought all three seasons! That's $35 I didn't need to spend, but you guys are a corrupting influence and I bowed to peer pressure!
