Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

So, almost as soon as it's "DEAL of the week" price ends, the Home Alone collection drops in price to $8...? Odd.

Well... it *did* go up to $15 for ~1 day first. For $8 I'd consider this for the grandkids (I'm sure they'd like 3 & 4 - not me) but it seems that it's a shameless money-grabbing repackage of the non-anamorphic versions.

Worth knowing.. are there better versions on disc, then?

The OOP DVD of "Family Fun Edition" is anamorphic. I believe all the BR releases are as well (don't know for sure but it'd be pretty stupid for them to *not* be on a BR release). The 2005 DVD (UPC 024543052449 and also OOP) is also anamorphic but I don't think it's remastered.

Does anyone know if Amazon or anyone else might have the Office complete series for a great price soon?

I truly don't get what happened with the DVD/BD lightning deals this year. They have them for just everything else but this?!

Thanks for posting. Unfortunately for my taste, it's a whole bunch of nothing. I really don't have any money this year anyways.........

Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

My feeling is that Amazon has dropped the ball this year with all these lightning deals and it's easier to order online at BB and Walmart all Thanksgiving (and some places even earlier).

Curb Your Enthusiasm season sets are running at $9.99 each. For some that is the cheapest price ever according to CCC.

All 4 seasons of Pretty Little Liars are now $10 each.

Damn, I picked up season 4 from Target a few weeks ago for $15. Should have been more patient.

I wonder what the Grimm: Season 2 Blu-Ray price is going to be, it won't be live until 9:50pm.

Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

Here's some of what I found that's the same or cheaper than Best Buy and Target. Similar seasons might be similarly priced but I already owned them:

Breaking Bad Season 5A - 7.99
Dexter Season 5 - 8
Dexter Season 6, 7, 8 - 10
Mad Men Season 5, 6 - 6
Mad Men Season 7A - 10
White Collar Season 4 - 6.99

I don't think Amazon's heart is in it, anymore. Most of my Black Friday purchases have shifted to other retailers.

Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

THE MOD SQUAD Complete Series has hit an all time low of $64.98, sold by VEI and fulfilled by Amazon. Still pricey, but it is five seasons.

Having watched 5 of the 7, I would have to say this is one of the better blind buys I've ever made (all I've ever seen from Fuller was Big Red one).

I'd call the 1st 5 films B+/A- Noirs & quite entertaining for less then
$3 per film.

That collection is being sold by four or five different Prime sellers, even lower now. I'll wait to see how their price bots fight it out. Pro tip: Bot pricing invariably hit their lowest prices later in the week, typically on Saturday nights.

http://www.amazon.com/JAG-Complete-C...omplete+series

Picked up JAG: The Complete series for $112. Just came in the mail today in a pretty bulky package.

MSRP is roughly $350. It's a good deal since it's a 10 season CBS show coming in at around $11 per season with an exclusive bonus disc.

This show for those unaware was the pre-cursor to NCIS. It's from the same creator. The original backdoor Pilot to NCIS aired as an episode of JAG.

Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

Not exactly a "bargain", but Amazon will offer a limited edition Breaking Bad barrel blu ray set for 599.99, signed by Vince Gilligan and Bryan Cranston. Anyway, it's available tomorrow 12/9 starting at 10:20 am Pacific.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...d_i=B00N0YUU94

Other than the signatures, the logo is printed and trimmed in gold(probably not actual gold!) and comes with a certificate of authenticity, but there is no indication of how many they made.

I saw that Breaking Bad set when it was up... it looked really nice and I've like to have it, but I'd rather have $600.

Yeah that was my feeling too. They have updated the listing a bit, it says that it is an edition of 100, which isn't that bad. But I don't think they sold that many on the initial listing(which was a flash deal), I checked a little bit before it ended, and it said they had sold 17 or 18%, so who knows, maybe they will dump them at some point.
