 I picked up volumes XVII, XVIII, and XIX. I love this show, but I can't afford to buy them at MSRP. I'm impressed with how quickly Shout is releasing them. I used to be current with the Rhino sets, but I've gotten really far behind, they'll be on volume 30 soon! Anyway at $24 the sets are quite reasonable, I might pick up a couple more before the sale ends on the 10th.

Resisted ordering this for $13, since I wanted this mainly for Mississippi (WC Fields), but for $10 plus nine pennies I had to bite.

Thanks for the follow up, That'sAllFolks!

I'm not familiar with Rogers. Amazon's descriptions make V1 sound more like drama, & v2 sound like slapstick (one of the only classic film genres I despise). Am I reading it correctly? The price is certainly excellent.

Here are reviews for will rogers 1 and the Fox Film Noir. Boomerang directed by Elia Kazan. I haven't gotten my sets yet. But the supplements sound really good. 90-minute A&E Biography - Will Rogers: An American Original.. John Ford directed a film in volume 1 too.

Thanks! i have some interest. Hesitation is the $4 marketplace shipping, & the 9.7% Amazon sales tax & the requirement to spend $35 for free ship (+ $10 for Boomerang with ship). If anyone else sees some awesome sales prices direct from Amazon to bring it up to $35..................

Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

I don't think there is any amazon sales tax on these marketplace sellers.. I wasn't charged any.

There is no threshold for free shipping on Marketplace orders, it's $4 per item.

No, my points are:

1. We all pay shipping on Marketplace. $4 is a bit high for a single dvd (I'm a mail order retailer myself; I charge $3-$3.50 for single disc items in standard packaging.)

2. I will pay 9.7% sales tax on all items sold directly by Amazon; & also have to get $35 of sold directly by Amazon to get free ship.

Means I'd have to spend $45 + tax on $35 to get all 3 deals, so was asking if anyone had seen any similar deals to really make it worth it.

Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

I ended up biting on the fulfilled by Amazon as there was a cd i also wanted. So far they've only billed me for 1 of the 2. I can't tell which one it is as the prices keep changing! At least it appears they're not charging tax on the "fulfilled by Amazon".

Vol 1 says, "Preparing for Shipment"

Vol 2 says, "Not yet shipped"

So far, they both show the same delivery estimate of "Wednesday, October 1, 2014 - Saturday, October 4, 2014 by 8pm"

on the actual listing, Volume 2 says, "Only 1 left in stock"
Volume 1 says, "In Stock."

MooMooMooMoo 09-26-14 01:31 AM

Re: AMAZON: Official SD Bargains Thread

I just realized they're currently using different "fulfilled by Amazon" partners than the ones i selected when they had 1 & 2 left. That may be impacting my order. Oh well. at least I'll get free ship on the cd if they cancel the dvd's.........

It looks to be a historical low on Amazon for a new copy.
