Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I Went Back To Big Lots Today And At First When I Entered The Store I Thought I Wasn't Gonna Find Anything Because I Went Last Saturday And I Found The $5 Batch So My Hopes Weren't That High, But To My Surprise My Big Lots Also Got The $3 Batch.

Mine Had:
Traitor
The Girl Next Door (1953)
Rabbit Hole
Kick-Ass
Alice In Wonderland (1933)
And Others

Went Home With:
"Rabbit Hole" (Blind Buy, Nicole Kidman Is In It So I Bet It's Going To Be Good)
"The Girl Next Door" (1953) (I Love Musicals So This Is Going To Be A Fun Movie To Watch)
& And "Alice In Wonderland" (1933) (Never Seen This Version Of Alice, So Hopefully It's Good. The Cast To This Version Is Really Impressive Cary Grant, Gary Cooper, And W.C. Fields All In One Movie That's Really Awsome!)

I'm Still Waiting For Witness For The Prosecution, Intermezzo, And Bananas! I'm Hopeful It Will Appear Soon At My Local Big Lots!

Nope. Specific titles in that MGM batch were utterly and hopelessly random.

Speaking of which, Sicklerville, NJ had:

The Killing of Sister George
FX2
Crime + Punishment in Suburbia
Crooked Hearts
The Fantasticks
Bowling For Columbine
Killing Me Softly
We Live Again
Fall
A Prayer For the Dying
Love at Large

Along with a few titles in the latest "dark blue" batch, including Star Trek: Q.

Neither. It was a co-production of Tigon Pictures and World Film Services. However, it *could* pass for Amicus or Hammer horror. I got my $3 copy at BL over 2 *years* ago.

The Final Destination (2009)
Presumed Innocent

Noel
Ace of Hearts (full screen)

Saturday Morning Cartoons 1970's Volume 2

York had less stock than Lancaster, but it may have been more picked-over (i.e. far fewer TV sets). The only title there that caught my eye was "12 Angry Men".

Lancaster also had three $5 copies of Seaquest S2, and I bought one. All the cases had partly-broken hubs, and all the DVD's had strange distortions in the reflective coating, including some with fingerprints *inside* the plastic! They seem to play alright, but my confidence in them is still low...

Has anyone been able to find 007: Octopussy (remastered) or 007: Die Another Day (remastered) in the San Fernando Valley?

Can anybody in the Central Valley CA (Modesto/Turlock/Stockton/etc.) confirm seeing the new stock? I'm particularly looking for Mississippi Burning and the Last Hurrah.

I finally saw a copy of Party of Five season 1 the other day. I believe it had been found for $3 and the Dollar Tree had it for a buck. This copy was $10. I didn't buy it.

Picked up an early Paul Verhoeven film, Spetters, along with the collector's edition of Forgetting Sarah Marshall in the BL in Woodland, CA. Some choice titles I saw include:

The Omen collector's edition
Speed collector's edition
Riding with Giants
Code 46
Down with Love

20th AE of Bright Lights, Big City? (The Michael Fox movie)

some other ones I don't remember.

Found The Brown Bunny at a Big Lots in Duarte, CA. The receipt said it was from a "August 2012" assortment.

Haven't kept up with this thread on a regular basis, so perhaps this has been mentioned. Stopped in a store last night and saw a single copy of the 2-disc version (found here) of Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman for $3. I had no interest, but perhaps someone else might be.

This is actually a really good movie ... and this is not something I would normally buy either.

On a side note: Big Lots has really gone down, or maybe my interest in marginal DVD titles has wavered or maybe I'm just concentrating on BD. Probably a little of everything. I look at these lists and for the most part, think so what.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Looking back at my old receipts, the last tv show I bought was last November. Since than I have only made 1 $20 purchase using the card. The year before I had made around 6 or so purchases by now of $20 or more.

I know it's been months since I bought a DVD from the,

Just went there again recently, still nothing really new. And the James Bond DVDs look untouched. Another thing I noticed lately is the lack of cars in the Big Lots parking lot. Last year it was more full, now just a few cars there.
Perhaps people are getting frustrated at Big Lots for the selection as well as advertising stuff and not having it in stock.

Within the same parking lot is a Goodwill (which strangely has been where I have been getting more dvds from, some OOP or things I never would be able to get otherwise) and Disc Replay in the mall across the street. And of course Meijer and Best Buy for newer releases.

Big Lots used to be a good place to shop for tv series and cheap DVDs, but with these other store nearby with a better selection Big Lots is dropping down the totem pole to the bottom in terms of going there for DVDs now. Sometimes I don't even waste my time going in there.
