I still found some stuff that I wanted.. But the store that usually has tons was barren.
I got Animation Show vol. 2 from Mike Judge, stuck on me, and history boys.

Hit Bridgeport, Tacoma Wa today. I think they did get some new $5 titles, but nothing much left.

They just sent an email that you can get 3 $3 titles for $8 (1 dollar off three, must buy 3) if you use your rewards card Saturday and Sunday (3/31 & 4/1)

Unless they got some new stock in the last week or so I doubt I can find 3 that I want.

Last time I was at BL there were multiple unsold copies of the Matt Damon INFORMANT for $3.00. Now they are restocking it at $5.00? Where is the logic?

Yeah, pretty pathetic, isn't it?

Just a few years ago I'd snap up titles for $5 each from the WM dump bin on a regular basis. Then came the BL $3 titles and $5 titles were no longer a impulse purchase and I quit looking at WM. I'd go to BL instead to pick up 4-5 blind buy titles on a regular basis at $3 each. At $5 each I *look* at DVDs at BL but it's a *very* rare occasion when I'll actually purchase one for that price. These do *not* get blind buys but get researched *first* and *then* will get a purchase only if there are just a few copies. Otherwise I'll wait for a 20% off and even then think twice. There have been several titles I'd have purchased for $3 but left on the rack because they were $5. Yep... pathetic...

Saw something very sad at the Elk Grove store today- two sides of the DVD rack now have PAPER PLATES instead of DVDs!

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I saw a new batch of $3 titles. They had about 20 copies of each title. Nothing rare or major. Many of them have been in previous batches.

Some of the titles I remember seeing:
Mother Lode (C. Heston)
Major Dundee (C. Heston)
Where the #$&% is Santa?
15 Minutes
Curse of the Golden Flower
Me and Orson Welles
Last Man Standing
Exorcist III

Yep. The dump bin at Walmart used to be a staple, but BL has rendered it nigh worthless. I still find some good titles at Walmart, but would buy a lot more if they were $3 instead of $5. Except for the multi-movie sets that bin has been worthless for years and as user-unfriendly as you can get for a major retailer.

The *few* times I've bothered with the WM dump bin lately I went back to what I did before the shelving units (*why* did they get rid of those? less floor space and *surely* more sales) - get a cart, throw unwanted titles into it as I'm looking and leave it when I'm done.

OMG!!! I just spent $270 at Big Lots! They had a massive new shipment full of unbelievable stuff: Criterions & Kinos $3! Blu-rays $5. Too many titles to mention but I snapped a couple of pics (spoilerized for size):
Spoiler:

April Fools!

(I did actually go to Big Lots - same old crap)

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Too true, Quatermass! I was able to find a Blu with the original Orson Welles cut of THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS including all previously lost footage and a deluxe Blu book of Jerry Lewis' classic THE DAY THE CLOWN CRIED. Both were $3 each plus I got a 20% members discount! Also picked up some paper towels.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I just came back from the Bolingbrook, IL. store and their dvd selection has shrunken by half.

They used to have 4 huge bins ($3, $5 and $6) and one 4 sided display.
Now all they have was one $3 bin, one $5 bin and the 4 sided display.

Nothing new at all (of course) and frankly it's rather sad.
It really looks like BL is no longer the place to go for DVDs anymore.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Stopped by the Franklin, Mass. location only to find they had reduced their selection significantly. The last time I was there they had the 4-sided rack and about 4 or 5 cardboard flats set up in the usual way. This time all that was gone and replaced by 4 waterfall displays. Most of what was there was all stuff previously posted with just 2 exceptions...

North Star (James Caan)...$3
The Three Stooges: Hapless Half-Wits...$3

I saw a new shipment today, of mostly titles they've gotten in the past, but they did get a bunch of the Superman Animated Adventures Volume Two in for $3, maybe more of the animated Warner boxes will make the circuit again. They weren't cut outs either.

Yes, but I couldn't afford that and the paper towels, so I just got the paper towels.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

There's a new $3 batch at the NoHo store on Vineland Avenue. Not much variety, just (literally) 30 copies of the same movies. What I remember:

Michael Clayton
Roxanne
Heartbeeps
X-15
North Star
Big Bounce (remake)
Mr Troop Mom
Big Red One

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I don't have a lot of extra money to spend on dvds so I prefer paying $3 to $5. However there are a lot of newer things I'ld pay $5 for at Walmart or Big Lots just to keep from missing them. Saw a few things at the 17/92 and Lake Mary Blvd store in Sanford Florida today I haven't seen previously at Big Lots.
Saw:

Whiteout with Kate Beckinsale $3 (had already picked this up for $5 at Walmart and watched).

Big Trouble in Little China 2 Disc special edition Couldn't remember if I had this. Got home and checked D'oh. Now I will be going back for it. Can't remember if it was $3 or $5
Bought:

The Client: Tommy Lee Jones $3 almost purchased this several times at Walmart for $5. Glad I waited on this.

Passion Play: Mickey Roarke/Megan Fox/Bill Murray $3 I remember reading something about this in Entertainment Weekly a few months ago. I would watch Bill Murray watch paint dry, so this was an easy blind buy.

The pricing continues to be an amusement. Why are movies like True Lies and Striking Distance still $5 ? Saw copies of Black Sheep at this store, some priced $3, some $5. Also at this location the wire rack has been removed in favor of 4 of the waterfall displays. I can't see the displays lasting long as they don't hold up well to the abuse they take, but it's easier looking through these than the wire rack.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

The San Bernardino, CA store had a new shipment; this and that.

Did see "Whiteout" and more copies of "Spider-Man 3".

You can however now purchase "Orgazmo: Unrated Special Edition" along with Mexican "Semen".

My store is selling various Mexican titles; this gem has condoms on the cover.

The thing is this, I've seen a few of those Mexican titles at the .99 Cent Only stores for... a buck. They're asking for three. Granted, you can't find "Semen" on the isles, but I guess you could ask a clerk, maybe ask nicely.
