Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I wonder now that its a card, instead of a %20 off coupon(that you can print several times, and go to several stores) will it be a one shot deal???

It should be good all day. I don't think I'm going to bother though, as they really haven't gotten much all month, both in my area & what's been posted on the board.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I went by my nearest BL yesterday evening to see if there was any reason to go back today, and nope, there wasn't. I have just about quit looking through their DVD selection as there has been almost nothing new in months. I would like to get Jericho S2 and The Guardian S2. I haven't seen much else posted that I really wanted. My store has gotten zero TV sets recently, even the week they were advertised.

my store has been a barren wasteland for months. Same stuff week after week with hardly anything even selling. Stuff that they would have a hard time getting rid of at a buck a piece.

wonder if this is the end of deals at Big and Small Lots.

I always see the same stuff at my local Big Lots. I didn't check for a couple months, I came back and they didn't have anything new.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went to 27th st. Milwaukee today and 2 of the cashiers said the sale was tomorrow, Sunday. But that if you asked for 20% off today that they would do it, but only for customers that asked for it. This seemed odd to me since the big lots website and the email they sent out said it was a one day sale for today, Saturday, only. There was also no signage up advertising the sale in the store, which during a normal coupon sale they have up. I guess you have to chalk it all up to uneven management across the country? Kinda like starting the coupon sales hours before that the coupon says it will start.

Anyway, i am curious to see if any other stores did their own thing today, like the one I went to did? I had heard the first cashier say the sale was tomorrow before I had checked out with all my stuff (lots of home stuff I've put off, and valentine's day). So, I was slightly panicked, and I had to confirm during check out that the sale was in fact today...sort of.

Selection was ho-hum as it seems to be lately, I haven't been to a BL since around thanksgiving. I only picked up Safe Men, which I had been on the fence about, the only title I passed on was The Cardinal. Maybe next sale? I still have so many older BL movies to watch.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I was surprised to find a "new" $3 and $5 floor standing waterfall display this evening. These were about 50/50 restock and "new" titles. I picked up:

$5
Weird Science - Flashback Edition
The Hunt for Red October/K-19 the Widowmaker - 2 pack

$3
Hellcats of the Navy
Roxanne (FS - never was a WS version of this release AFAIK)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II (restock)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III

And the 20% off sale *is* today - at least here.

Thanks for that info! I'd say I might get lucky and get a flipper but a look up of the title shows what I purchased to have different artwork. I still like the film, it'll just be more difficult knowing there's a WS version out there...

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

HELLCATS OF THE NAVY was a recent Walmart dump bin staple as were several other Columbia Combat Classics.. I would love if more of these would start showing up at BL, two bucks cheaper than Walmart.

Went to the Niles, IL store yesterday for the 20% deal and picked up TEXAS CYCLONE, a 1932 Tim McCoy B western co-starring John Wayne in one of only two 30's westerns he made at Columbia. Just 57 minutes and no extras, plus re-release opening and closing credits, but a remarkably excellent transfer according to DVD Talk's usually reliable critic Stu Galbraith.

Also found buried on the bottom shelf of the rack a single copy of the De Toth/Scott western THE STRANGER WORE A GUN, but only in 2-D.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I decided to go back today and surprisingly they got some stuff in.

The Wrestler $3
Vacancy $3
Friday the 13th Part 2 $3

I wouldn't be surprised if other Big Lots have had these before. But they've never been in the stores near me.

That's Entertainment III
Sleuth
Vacancy
All the Pretty Horses (Thinpak)
Geronimo (Thinpak)
I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer
Urban Legends: Final Cut
A Jean Claude Van Damme movie with Shepherd in the title
and many more.

I didn't see any of those aside from Vacancy. I might have picked up Urban Legends if they had it.

Saw these at the NoHo store on Vineland Avenue. One side had $5 titles, the other had $3. Mostly repeats of stuff they've had before. The only new one I noticed was "One More Time" (Peter Lawford/ Sammy David Jr) for $5. Also Weird Science and Sixteen Candles collector editions.

On the "flashback" edition(s) of Wierd Science and Sixteen Candles
are there any issues with the original music in either film? Thanks in
advance for any info. Much appreciated.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Haven't seen much new but I did finally get a copy of Diamond Dogs with the "3D" cover. Is that called lenticular? Anyway, it was only $3 and assuming the movie is on par with other Dolph straight to video stuff, I'm glad I waited to get the one with the cool cover/sleeve.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

When I walked into the Sepulveda store the display was loaded with the ESPN video and some lousy movie I've blanked from my mind. Interesting way to push the chaff.

Did find lone copies of
Roxanne
Sixteen Candles
Breakfast Club
The Other Guys
An American in Paris
Starship Troopers

And surprised to still see more than one copy of these $10 seasons sets
VEGAS
Nash Bridges
Family Ties
Dynasty
Star Trek Q
Life with Jim
Diary of Call Girl
My Three Sons
Hotel

But they are drowning in copies of
Nick & Nora
The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T
Kinsey
Final Destination
and a few more

I could go for "Kinsey", but it's the single disc editon.
