^ You're right; it looks like it's available again. Worth a blind buy in your opinion?

Those SOBs...I ordered DRESSED TO KILL and BLUE VELVET in the sale just a couple days ago and they were $12.01 and $12.17 with the 25% off.

For better or worse, I've noticed that DD adjusts prices (BOTH DIRECTIONS) on items they want to clear out at least 2x weekly. Probably done automatically with software.

I saw it probably 5 or 6 years ago, but it was cut and the print was so terrible I had a hard time getting into it, so I don't really remember it. The reviews have been pretty good for it, and I'm a fan of most slashers from the early 80s so I'm anxious to see a good quality version of it.

My Frankenhooker finally showed up so I'm going to be checking that out now.

Good to hear your copy finally showed up.

I'm a sucker for '80s slashers, too. That's why I'm considering a blind buy but will probably hold off for now. I've been spending enough money the last month or two!

I was surprised to get Blue Velvet BD today but I preordered it with the 5 dollar coupon a month ago.

Re: Deep Discount 25% Sale

I actually bought this a few weeks ago for a couple bucks more. But it's so great I wanted to recommend it now that it's on sale. Obscure direct-to-video WIP flick, easily as good as the Corman / Hill / Phillipino features. Lots of fun. Biggest problem is non-anamophic widescreen, but you can't have it all. Japanese with English subtitles.

Re: Deep Discount 25% Sale

On Nov 4, I ordered 15 movies, 2 of which were preorders. Fed Ex just handed me a box with 13 movies in it. On tht same day, I ordered 3 in-stock movies from Amazon, but I have no idea where those are; I know they ain't here.

So, it's official: DD gets my undying praise and has cemented its lofty status in my heart. The automatic naysayers can eat it; they probably do get shitty service, but it's probably because they've done something wrong in their lives and therefore deserve it. Either that, or they're just miserable people who are happy with nothing; good luck arguing with the Barnes & Noble clerk over why you can't get your half-off Criterion with a $8 off $40 coupon, mixed with an additional 20% coupon, as you try to barter with your chicken. Viva la disconta del deep!!!

Blue Velvet is now up to 14.06. I had it and a few other things in my cart for purchase today but when I checked first thing this morning the prices had increased from 20-33%. Ouch. I guess I'll keep them in my cart and see if they go back back down.

You of course chose comparable shipping methods for both Amazon and DD, and you aren't comparing one's express shipping with the other's Super Saver?

And however good your experience is, it doesn't change that I'm still waiting on items that I ordered in June, which were listed as in-stock at the time.

Yes, on that first point.

And I hope your particular order gets sorted out in a manner that you are satisfied with. If that happened to me, I'd be pretty pissed & probably wouldn't return to a company over something like that. (My comment wasn't meant to come off like I'm a jerk, I was just super excited with my luck.)

Re: Deep Discount 25% Sale

They shorted me 1 cd in a recent order. it was on the packing slip, but not in the box. I have rarely dealt with such idiots at CS. I question if they understand English. No matter how i phrase the problem, CS plays dumb. It's only $1.24 we're talking about, but I have strong morals about doing things right & this is really pissing me off. My opinion HAD been going up on DD, no longer the case.

Re: Deep Discount 25% Sale

Two of the three items I was interested in bumped up in price during the sale. Tacky, tacky, tacky. So, for the third time in a row, I'll be entirely sitting out DD's "great" semi-annual sale.

I had six items in my cart. They all jumped in price, some nearly doubling.

I piss all over this "sale".

Yep the two measley items I wanted also jumped up in price. Was trying to find a third in order to get free shipping. This place just doesn't want my money. Time to call it day and let Skull's pissing monkey have the final word.

Re: Deep Discount 25% Sale

Gotta love it. I'm trying to order 8 titles right now, and while one of them went right into my Cart, the other 7 keep taking 3-4 minutes to go to a white page that says:

"The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred."

Good times.

And still going, and going, and going....

I'm guessing that this will continue until about 1-2 seconds before they raise the price on everything that we're trying to buy.

And the entire Deep Discount site was down, but now seems to be back again. Ah, a nice relaxing Sunday.

Re: Deep Discount 25% Sale

Since the site redesign a couple of years ago it's been like that frequently. Very slow loads, crashes, horrible search, and a "wish list" that you wished loaded reasonably quickly and is useable.

I, too, have seen a couple of items in my cart go up by a dollar or two over the past few days. This is on stuff that's not currently involved in another "sale" on the site. A first for me. I've yet to place an order this time and it's looking like I'll be doing a "pass" for the first time in years, although my purchases in the past few were under $30 each.

Re: Deep Discount 25% Sale

I usually follow this thread every year to see what all the good deals are and then make my order at the end with an amalgam of things that others ordered. This year it doesn't seem to be a working stratagem though.

Deepdiscount.com's site is one of the worst out there as it's a pain to get around and when you enter stuff into the shopping cart and then enter a code that is valid, mind you, it empties the shopping cart. CS aren't too bright at that company and they just don't seem to properly grasp the concept of how to hold on to loyal customers before it's too late and then they lose them all. The practice of them raising their prices and then offering their discounts is just getting old as of late.

Re: Deep Discount 25% Sale

I eventually gave up this morning, but just tried again now, and everything worked as smoothly and perfectly as one could wish for. No price increases even. I was shocked, it felt like I was actually dealing with a professional company. Still plenty of opportunities for them to screw my order up, but if anyone's been trying the site with no luck, this might be a good time to try again.

That is a frequent issue with DD's site. It usually impacts orders with 25+ items (with cd's @ 0.97 cents it was easy to do a few weeks ago before all the good stuff sold out!), but i have seen that behavior several times.

Re: Deep Discount 25% Sale

It seems the only valid code this time is 25more. Is this a mulit-use coupon? Has anyone tried it multiple times? I applied it and went to the submit screen and it seemed OK, but I've had codes mysteriously disappear after submit.
