I personally think the slip case is REALLy crappy. It feels like it'll fall apart if you aren't extremely careful with it. It's still a great deal though. I can post a pic of the new slip case if someone wants me to.

Mine shipped for $20.99 today w/free shipping/ Amazon Prime- I'll put up with the flimsier slip case. Its the content I wanted any way and that really is a great price for an 8 disc set!

When I used the search function, it showed up as out of stock -- but for some reason, it still lists 'In Stock' on the actual product page. I kept getting "Unable to display items" when adding it to my cart, though.

You probably have something similar in your collection. It's a fairly standard slip-case type box of which you see on many TVonDVD collections. It's a slingle layer type where the open side has about 1-1 1/2" folded back inside to provide a *bit* of extra sturdiness.

To those of you with the new slipcase, using the photos on Amazon (or elsewhere) as a guide, do you think you could tell the two versions apart if you saw a copy of each, shrink wrapped on a store shelf? (The UPC likely hasn't changed, so that wouldn't help.) Have the 7 individual DVD packagings or anything else in the set changed?

Absolutely. The difference is obvious.

Yes. The interior boxes are exactly the same as the original. Read through the thread for more info. You will not find the thicker boxer for under $77 anywhere. Waste of $50 more dollars if you ask me.

If walmart get them in stock again. Jump on it. Its a terrific set.

Without a doubt. The original is a sturdy box where the entire top half comes sliding off. The DVDs are fully enclosed. The new version is a standard slip-case which is open on one side. The *only* difference is the outer package.

Got mine. Very pleased for $20.00 and change. Only problem is that I already had the Gojira/Godzilla 2D set so I will try and trade it with someone or give it to one of my older kids for laughs as I'm sure they never have seen these films. Definately a great set so especially for the price!):

Glad you like it. I have watched the first two so far. Im gonna watch the rest this summer. I remember as a kid they always seemed to mostly be on during the summer time. Good times. Need ot get my brother over to finish the rest with me. Good times.

Picked up the in-store from Walmart. Jeebus. I expected to be handed a product off the shelf and they handed me a sealed shipping carton. Packed very well, no complaints. Damn! Giant f-ing lizards stomping all over Japan! (like they really needed that now). Great set. Thanks OP, and the poster who gave me the heads up on Walmart!

I've watched most of the movies. They're really hit or miss but I adore the original. I'll take some pics of the box when I get some batteries for my camera.

I was in FYE this week and I noticed they had the individual releases from this set on sale for 4.99. That's a good deal if you only need one or 2 and have an FYE nearby.

I was going to buy this up today on Wal-Mart.com. But they're currently OOS.
