Title say's it all, right? $55.99 for the entire series on DVD in a 14 disc collection. That's only $4 a disc.

One of the most acclaimed TV Series of all time. In the vein of Tales from the Crypt or The Twilight Zone, this anthology series for Horror television is held in high regard as one of television's greatest achievements.

This set has all 67 hour long episodes, restored and remastered, and features a ton of bonus materials.

Here's the Amazon link:

SO tempting... but I really need to start curbing the impulse buys and I'd never even heard of this series before the DVD set was announced.

It seems like a solid purchase, but it's a bit much for a blind buy after taxes (I know, still a major savings over the inflated retail value). Truthfully, if this wasn't such a tight month for my bank account I would still consider ordering this.

What I've been waiting for. I saw most of these when the show was first broadcast. I was a big fan and the show was mostly consistently good. Although I saw the Amazon deal before reading about it here I want to say thank, OP, for posting it. You beat me to it.

The only thing better would be a blu-ray but that is unlikely to ever happen so I'm ordering this.

Okay, I'm in. I really wasn't intending to get this any time soon but it's likely going to be a long time before it hits this price point again. Even with free shipping it's estimated to arrive before Halloween.

I ordered it but I had it ordered with deepdiscount first at the beginning of October for $75- it's backordered still. I sent in a request to cancel, I hope that works out alright.

Re: Amazon DOTD: Thriller Complete Series: $55.99

Thanks for the heads up. You are getting 67 episodes for the price, many of them with audio commentaries, so this is an excellent deal. I'd been waiting to pull the trigger on this one, and this convinced me.

Re: Amazon DOTD: Thriller Complete Series: $55.99

I'm almost tempted. $56 is a fair price (the $150 list for a 60's tv series is a bit ridiculous).

Thriller is somewhat similar to Outer Limits & Twilight Zone, but is more on the Hitchcock side then sci-fi; though there is the occasional sci-fi & horror episode. Karloff hosts & appears in a few episodes. Most of the actors are unknown, but there are a few major actors: William Shatner & Elizabeth Perkins (Bewitched) come to mind. The episode quality is very uneven. Some are excellent (Noir starlet Ida Lupino wrote & directed several of the better ones) , & some are mediocre. Image did a very nice job with the transfers, though oddly the music is too loud in places. I don't know if that issue is from the original masters, or because Image is pushing the music from Jerry Goldsmith (there are music only audio options for every episode).

I rented the set from Netflix. I am tempted at $56, but am saving $'s for Metropolis, the Hendrix box & to purchase the new Liz Phair for the 2nd time (grr).

What I would love to see on dvd is BK's 50's British series Colonel March. It is superb. Unfortunately the only version circulating that I am aware of is a poor over the air recording done on an 80's VCR. There is 1 episode available in the UK as a bonus feature on Cauldron Of Blood, & there is a "movie" put together from 5 of the episodes that's out of print but circulates in collector's circles in high quality.

I would buy Colonel March in a heartbeat if there was an official restored edition.

I still may break down & buy this today, we'll see..............

I agree that we probably won't see a better price, at least for a few years. I'm in.

In for one. Thanks OP!

It's a blind buy for me, but at this price I can probably resell it if I don't like it, and get all or most of my money back.

Re: Amazon DOTD: Thriller Complete Series: $55.99

How is this series compared to the UK series Thriller from Brian clemins in the 70's?

same type of show? if I liked the UK one, will I enjoy this?

Re: Amazon DOTD: Thriller Complete Series: $55.99

Reviews claim it bears resemblance to other series of its time (early 60s), Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Twilight Zone, yet apparently with numerous episodes that went more for horror shock twists. I've read no mention of the UK series in relation to the product above. Episodes are an hour long.

You might check out Hammer House Of Horror, made around 1980 and available from Amazon UK for 10 pounds.

I've heard mostly negative things about that show. I've wanted to give it a shot once but I changed my mind and got into the Hammer House of Horror series instead.

Thriller is like what's described above, it wouldn't resemble the UK one very much I wouldn't think.

Re: Amazon DOTD: Thriller Complete Series: $55.99

I recently paid about $30 more for it and have no regrets. It's been great to watch and just the intros with Boris Karloff are almost worth the price.

Re: Amazon DOTD: Thriller Complete Series: $55.99

I've been praising this set since it first came out. For anyone like me, that never saw it before, keep in mind that it is not a pure horro series. It began as a crime series, and only later one went into horror. Some of the crime stuff is fantastic.

Since I bit just now, I'm sure it will be on sale for $35 or less by year's end.

Re: Amazon DOTD: Thriller Complete Series: $55.99

It's an anthology series, so you can watch any episode you want out of order and it won't affect the continuity.
The show got off to a slow start, but got better as the show progressed more into horror elements.
Most people like to watch the show in order, so they gave it a bad review based on the first few episodes.
