Okay, here's what I figured out. Your Amazon.com account won't work with Amazon Japan unless you've placed orders there in the past. Instead, you have to create a new account. When you try to type in your info and submit it, it's going to say that your name has to be in katakana. That's BS. Just type your name in all caps (FIRSTNAME LASTNAME). After that, it'll ask for your shipping/billing address. At the top of this page, there's a blue text link for "international addresses." Click that and fill yours in. From there you should be golden in setting up your account.

As for Marketplace, you can't buy DVDs through it UNLESS the seller does fulfillment through Amazon. Luckily, one seller named Autorettobukkusu is still selling GitS for ¥3,942. He's going to be your best option. Buy from him. Shipping to the US for this DVD is $24. Whole thing'll run you $72.02.

I ended up placing an order, but I might cancel, I dunno. I suppose I've got until the end of tomorrow to decide before anything happens with it. Also, Amazon.com gift certificates DO NOT work with Amazon Japan. Believe me, I tried. Kinda sucks...

Hah, apparently the Japanese don't take off weekends. My order is preparing to ship right now! Can't cancel! Estimated delivery 8/25-8/28. Word to the wise... If you're not sure you want it, don't submit the order.

Those prices are lower than basic wholesale from funi, at least for normal customers- Pretty nice actually.

I'm not familiar with wholesale prices. These prices @ about 50% off the MSRP.

basic is 50% these are about 55 or 60 (give or take) basically about 1.50 less per set on the wholesale level, hope that helps- B

Had anybody else preordered the Genshiken DX set? It was supposed to be released 8/24, but that date's come and gone and now every online retailer has its status as backordered. I hadn't seen any delay announcements from Media Blasters for this title, so I'm wondering what's going on.

I know there's been a lot of talk recently about MB possibly being on the verge of going under. Maybe this is it...

There hasn't been any announced release delay on this. It could be one of those soft release date that won't be released until September. It's a wait and see on this and other late Aug/Sept MB releases.
