I had to do that 6 years ago. What a night mare. I ended up basically giving away 1/2 of my books & got $1 each for all my vinyl. I'm still mostly disc on film, though adding some files. I've pretty much switched over to files for high resolution music where possible, though I still have thousands of discs.

+ computers, & all the stuff we all have to move.

If you're going there you have my empathy. It totally sucked.

I have a mix of media like dvd /bluray any in bins or bags and cassette or cd in a tape case taped closed lol. so for the most part any stuff gotta pack be easy to do so since know where came from and easy stack and store any. just stack all and use doly to truck or pod and ill make sure stuff stay level so weight not all to one side so to speak so easier to move around corners and such lol. so much read about moving just declutter and repeat till only stuff u want most lol.

I hit mine yesterday. A smallish selection from the last 2 batches. Lots of Woody Allen left. I bought 11/9 on DVD & that was it. Has anyone else thought that jumping from $1 to $1.25 is 25% inflation?????

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I think they said they did the increase and it was before the inflation gathered steam because they wanted to stock the stores with a better quality of merchandise.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Lots of rumors they originally wanted everything priced at $1.50. Now that they've broken the magical dollar barrier, I have no doubt we'll see $1.50-$1.99 pricing at Dollar Tree before 2024.

Which has yet to happen.

I bought the first DVD there in forever today. Found a copy of "Superman : The Movie". My store hasn't had anything new in forever.

Came across the second and final season of From Dusk Till Dawn on DVD. Also some of the DVDs and BDs this go-around are ringing up for $1 instead of the new pricing.

I came across Matchstick Men today...in a Snapper case. Wow, must have been one of the very last ones made by Warner.

Stopped in a store today and simply glanced at a small number of titles near the entrance. Blind bought a BBC TV show, The Honorable Woman with Maggie Gyllenhaal. I hope I live to be 115 so I can get to all these blind buys. ;) Of course that only happens if I stop buying them as well.

Finally went to dt and walkin into place trigger media thinking by chance lol and so looked and saw a metal rack and boxes and scored like 3 if any. have not got for so long cause med reasons but by chance chekd and as said metal reack and like 4 or 5 box to checkd and almost got alot but remember 1.25 now so less grabs even if still cheap. said alot in blu ray area but here just the basics i guess. maybe go back but gotta move so idk till it happens anytime. and was also a metal display in front with some stacks so guess got alot boxes and not alot space in tech area so had to put stacks in front by chance. alot b or less movies but scored 3 so not bad compared to past trips and all. went to 99 cent store close by and had none so guess didnt get any or all sold by chance. or was moved to different area but didnt ask but good went to dt cause had plenty.lol..

My shabby DT store has basically had the same MGM type movies all year long. A few new items have filtered in lately, but nothing worth buying. I've picked up 2 or 3 DVDs all year long, and no blu rays. I've seen nothing of the blu rays described elsewhere. If I happen by a DT somewhere else, and have the time, I'll stop. But none of them have been much good either. It's gotten to be a waste of time, really.

Dollar Tree is not good at evenly distributing their media shipments across stores. There are some locations I gave up on checking for new shipments because they'd invariably get the same 2-3 boxes of junk DVDs with decent titles.

I'm rarely going in. If our triple pandemics ever end, I'll likely check more often again.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

So basically somebody snaking all the blu ray for resell or for own wants any cause i by chance saw scatterd blu rays but nothing i real want for any reason. i dont mind dvd if it worth getting at time. and guess stores for any reason are not scoring good stuff like past times or times are just changing and places try dump media not selling enough to get rid of inventory and buyers are just getting slim pickings anytime. i just save space anytime then lol.

PhantomStranger 11-23-22 05:36 PM

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I don't think resellers are a big threat anymore, there's simply no money to be made anymore on eBay selling Dollar Tree fare. I've opened Dollar Tree shipping boxes before. In 2022 they'll have a long shipping cartoon of 80-100 discs with sometimes only 1 or 2 Blu-rays in the whole box. Other boxes may have a few more BDs mixed in, but they are still mostly randomly scattered in them.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

i think when they pack the media is just mixed of media and since not many buy dvd that most blu ray sell faster but dvd just sit to be sold anytime now days
.

What does Dollar Tree do with the mountains of DVDs which don't sell? Junk them? There's no retailer in the supply chain beneath them which would take their refuse.

Have you recently checked the dumpster behind the Dollar Tree store? ;)

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Went to DT today and they had all DVDs and Blu-Rays 2 for $1. The sign was just an 8x10 sheet of paper printed on a laser printer that said "All DVD and Blu-Ray 2 for $1 (limited time)". Not much selection, only 2 blu-rays, probably 100 DVDs. they were all titles that have previously been mentioned that weren't selling. I picked up 5 just to watch and probably give away to Goodwill. YMMV.

Update 3/29: I was near a different Dollar Tree today and went in to look around. They had about 40 DVDs and no Blus. there was no sign or any indication of a sale, but they had an Olive Films DVD of a French Movie called "Mammuth" which I threw in my basket. It rang up at 50 cents! So that price might be all stores.
