Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Went to my local Dollar Tree last night. Not a DVD in sight, but I did get a set of 6 Eggies (as seen on TV) for a dollar! I bought a Jupiter Jack there a few months ago for a dollar too. They must get the unsold TV crap before it goes to the landfill.

Update: the Eggies are going in the Goodwill box.

Saw Hard Cash,. but not the other ones. Got The Proposition and Eye See You around Christmas at Fry's for a buck but would like to get Strays and In Hell.

It's hard to pass up stuff for a buck. I tend to go crazy and regret half the purchases, but there are some gems mixed in.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Ironically there was a time when dealers would snatch up all the steelbooks & other deluxe packaging. Not any more; both ebay & Amazon have a $3.00 shipping cap. Postage keeps going up........... get my drift?

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

They have popped up here.

Picked up "Dirty War", I've seen it at Big Lots some time back. A good deal for a dollar.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I went to several stores and they have them, but they don't seem to have any of the better titles. Mostly, I see a Robert Pattison documentary, Meet Bill, Stan Lee Doc., Swept away and few others.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I picked up a few of these at a couple of stores. The one I went to today had them all in that wire bin right as you enter the door. I was surprised to see it overflowing. I actually straightened it out a little, filling holes and making everything point spine up. I found Crash & Burn, which was the title I was most hoping to find. I also picked up the steelbooks for Immortal and Hard Cash. My first ever steelbooks. I don't get the appeal.

The eggies kind of suck. I like the concept but using them is another story... hard to clean and not worth the effort!

I was thinking about posting something similar. I was quite happy to get an As Seen On TV item for a buck, especially one where the commercials had actually intrigued me.

But after reading the instructions, I'm probably not even going to try these things even once. Way to much work for a reward that I'm not even sure is a reward. Is peeling shells off hard boiled eggs really that difficult? The only possible benefit I see is being able to add shredded cheese and bacon bits to them ahead of time, but they'd probably just all clump either on the bottom or in the middle with the yolk.

Direct to Good Will sounds like a good plan. I did pick up season one of Huff or some such the other day.

Eggsactly!
They actually worked as advertised, but like you said there was a lot of work to greasing them beforehand and cleaning them afterwards and it took twice as long to cook a soft-boiled egg as it normally does. The hard-boiled ones came out really nicely though. The 30 seconds it takes to peel an egg is trivial in comparison to the prepping and cleaning effort. I also tried one in the microwave just for the heck of it and it was disgusting looking, so I threw it out.

Anybody ever think about starting a thread on funny stories about ASONTV products? I really wouldn't have anything to add to it, but it would probably make for an entertaining topic.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

It seems like none of the Dollar Trees I visit ever have any DVDs. It's been a good years since I've seen some in a store here in Ohio.

I kind of want to see Swept Away, because a) I actually like Guy Ritchie and b) if it can live up (or down, depending) to its awful reputation.

Swept Away is not great cinema, but is mildly watchable.

For the longest time I did not know mine had a spot for them. When I saw the post on this site about the blu rays (ernest, etc...) I checked again and it was hidden behind a post in the automotive section. I check it sporadically. Usually nothing too great, but I've found a few good things.

I did see this dvd at local DT but I had already seen this once on cable and, to me, it wasn't even worth the $1 or the space it would take up among my other dvds...

IMHO, the best Guy Ritchie films are 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', 'Snatch' and, to a lesser extent, Revolver...

Of course, I'm not counting the two SH movies which were very good also...
