Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

My copy of King of Kong is slashed on the upc. Personally I don't care ifthe upc is slashed or not as long as the disc is fine and plays. I'm not picky, just glad to have the movie.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Ok, have seen too many people say they seen the 2-disc Taxi Driver and others saying they got the CE but not the 2disc.

Can anyone who knows what they are talking about confirm they have indeed seen the 2-disc CE with the Goldish cover???

I think people are seeing the Silver Cover CE and thinking it is the 2-disc set, but it is not.

Anyone?

You're right--the version I saw a few days ago was the 1999 one-disc, not the 2007 two-disc.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went to 2 Big Lots today looking for King of Kong & Fast Food Nation and had no luck.

Did pick up

The RhineMann Exchange (based on the book The Borune Ultimatum)
James Dean: Sense Memories (Gift)
The Grudge (I actually own the extended Edition but really wanted to hear the original commentary)
The Love Guru (first time I have seen this for less than five and/or not used (I have a bit of a Jessica Alba addiction))
Undead or Alive (past on this a few times because it was shrink wrapped but that seems to be the case at every store, and it is a low enough budget movie that that might just be how they did it).
Adventures of Pluto Nash Wanted to see it after seeing it on a list of biggest box office bombs
Next First time I have seen this under $5, not used & not fullscreen (usually all 3).
Wyatt Earp 2 Disc Special Edition
Shorts Love me some Rodriguez cooking school (I have some pork in the freezer to make Puerco Pibil tomorrow!)
Dr. Giggles Have always wanted to see this one, but this has the worst UPC slash I have ever seen, it goes into the case...

Previously mentioned titles I also saw and can recall:
MIB Deluxe Edition
MIIB 2 Disc Special Edition (Full screen)
Soylent Green
Tokyo Godfathers (any good?)
United 93 (the label on the top said Undercover Brother FF)
some Ronald Reagan movies
The Sci-Fi Boys (Studio wrapped, not shrink wrapped)
The Brave One (been pondering getting this one as the wife likes Jodi)
Tremors 3

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Bought these earlier:

$3
The Man Who Wasn't There
Men In Black Deluxe Edition
Guilty by Suspicion (FS)
King of Kong
3 Pack - Tyson 2 disc, It's Not Your Fault You're Fat and some Jillian Michaels workout DVD - very odd pairing

$5
Austin Powers - Spy Who Shagged Me
Austin Powers - Int'l Man of mystery
Superman 3 Deluxe Edition

There were tons of DVDs, 1 regular 4 sided display, 1 cardboard 4 sided display, 1 sided display holding multipacks, 1 table/bin holding the double and triple features, and 1/2 shallow bin holding other multipacks. Might go back tomorrow and see what I missed.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I've seen a leak of the labor day add. The dvd sale is going to be the recent $5 batch (or a restock) marked down to 3 for $12 for 2 days.

Is there any way to up a scan without storing it on an external web site?

FYI Warner Brothers just released a "4 Film Favorites" pack with all 3 Austin Powers movies (+ Spies Like Us) for ~$10.

At the Dallas Redbird store, picked up the football triple feature (The Longest Yard, North Dallas Forty and Necessary Roughness), Hook and Contact. Had Curse of the Golden Flower in my hands but ended up putting it back.

I've mainly wanted to see The Brave One since Neil Jordan is generally pretty consistent of a director.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Saw a lot of same titles as above posts in new shipment at my local Tampa Bay BL. I picked up:

Shorts (WS & FS)
SNL: Commercial Parodies
Masters of the Universe (WS)
Not Another Teen Movie UR Extended Directors Cut (WS)

New stock seemed heavy on Full Screen and light on older movies. I would like to have found Soylent Green or Taxi Driver. Might have to go back and pick up one of the few copies they had of Fast Food Nation and Pluto Nash just for giggles.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Had high hopes of picking up older movies today at Big Lots, but couldn't most all of them.

I ended up picking up:

AMC Monsterfest Cult Classics 6 movie set - $3
The Man Who Wasn't There - $3
Jackie Chan's First Strike - $3

A few weeks ago, at a different Biglots, I also found a $3 3-pack of AMC Monsterfest that had -

Corman Classics Collection 1 (Bucket of Blood, Little Shop of Horrors, The Terror, Wasp Woman)
Cult Classics (Shock, Killers From Space, Monster Maker, Killer Shrews)
TV Guide Horror Classics (The Ape & The Ghoul)

Wish I could find some of these other titles, but all the above for $12 + tax is awesome in its own right.

They're single disc releases with 4/5 episodes each. They're all Hitchcock directed episodes as well. And yes, they $3 each.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

just got back from my locak BLs. TONS on new movies. Way too many to mention. Lots of Anime, and an assortment of multi-feature ($5 and $6), and new films. I picked up

The Man Who Wasn't There
Basic (Travolta, Jackson)
Chucky 2
An American Werewolf in London SE
Major Dundee - SE

Didn't see hitchcock or It's Alive trilogy- which were the 2 I was most interested in.

But nice to see some new films for a change!

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Here's some of what I found at the Seekonk, Mass. store today...

The Babysitters Club
Blood and Wine
Bordertown
Charro
Destination Tokyo
Fail Safe
Flight of the Living Dead
Head in the Clouds
Kramer vs. Kramer
Listen Up: The Lives of Quincy Jones
Possessed
Slap Shot 3: The Junior League

There was quite a bit of new/different anime as well. At least "new/different" for THAT particular store which hardly gets any. There was more than what I picked up, but I can never remember anime titles unless I write them down. So with that said, here's what I picked up...

Basilisk 2: The Spoils of War
Basilisk 3: The Parting of Ways
Black Cat 4: The Cat's Tale
Burst Angel 1: Death's Angel
Burst Angel 2: A New Tokyo

...there WAS more than that, just can't remember them accurately. And I don't want to submit false info.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Hit up a store I haven't been to in about 6 months, totally renovated. They had loads of DVDs... piled on top of each other, which made it quite impossible to dig through. But I'm a sucker for $3 DVDs so I insisted on trying. Found & picked up:

HEROES (HENRY WRINKLER, SALLY FIELD, HARRISON FORD - 1977) -- Don't recall seeing that one mentioned
FOREVER YOUNG (1992) -- Don't recall seeing this one mentioned
SHORTS (WS/FS, 2009)
HOOK (WS, 1991)
PATRIOT GAMES (SPECIAL COLLECTOR'S EDITION, 1992) -- I saw lots of copies for $3 and $5.
THE POWERPUFF GIRLS MOVIE (2002)

I have yet to find CHILD'S PLAY 2 or THE REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE 2DISC (

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

On "AMC Monsterfest: Cult Classics Collection Vol. 1", "The Brain that Wouldn't Die" runs 1:22:20 which from all reports *is* the uncut version... *BUT* the quality of the print is terrible. It's primarily good for the uncut version and as a screener to determine if you like it enough to get a better quality print (the Synapse or MST3K versions are quite good).

"AMC Cult Classics Monsterfest - 6 Movies on 3 Dvds" does not contain that title. It has:
Carnival of Souls
Night Tide
Night of the Living Dead
House on Haunted Hill
Bluebeard
Chamber of Horrors

None of the AMC titles I own have very good prints. You would think that with a major cable "sponsor" on the cover you'd be getting very good - excellent transfers. How untrue! I'm suprised AMC didn't have these recalled when initially released so as not to ruin what little good name they had left after turning their cable channel into just another commercial filled "movie" channel.

Modesto, CA (eastside store)

Local store suddenly reassembled their three-level display and stocked it with all the new titles mentioned in the current pages. For myself I picked up:

The Animal (Uncut and Untamed)
Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon
Dogma (SE)
Gable and Lombard
Jabberwocky
The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters
Hal Ashby's Lookin' to Get Out! (Extended Version)

And for gifting I also purchased:

The 7th Voyage of Sinbad
TCM Laurel and Hardy Collection: The Devil's Brother / Bonnie Scotland / Added Attractions: The Hollywood Shorts Story
