As has been mentioned in other threads, 21 Jump street and Hunter are getting "complete series" releases later this year. GAH has also been released as a "complete series". It may be better to wait on some of these unless you just want to "test the water".

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Thanks to a 20% Buzzclub discount, a cashier who forgot to scan one item (3rd time!) and some 3-packs I managed to score 25 titles for $31. Highlights include:

Werner Herzog Essentials (No Godard or Almodovar)
Greta Garbo TCM documentary
Z: Masterworks Edition
Mccabe & Mrs. Miller
Wyatt Earp 2-disc
Incubus
Palindromes

Some of the 3-packs had some mighty peculiar combinations - an animated 10 Commandments paired with a horror film (The Last Winter), Dirty Sanchez unrated alongside a children's Christmas film, etc.

It really looks like there are a lot more of the Herzogs getting out then the Godard & Almodovar. Has anyone found all 3? If so, did they ring up as part of the same batch or as different batches?

I mentioned before, most of the 3 packs seem to be randomly assembled.

Is this the Todd Solondz movie? If so, I'll definitely have to keep an eye out for it.

Yes. It was included in one of the 3-packs with (I think) "Funny Ha Ha" and a National Geographic Kennedy family documentary.

Found the Herzog set at a Reno, NV store, so there's hope for those searching for this one on the west coast. Still no Godard or Almodovar unfortunately.

Someone mentioned that they picked up the 3 Disc version that had the Wal-Mart exclusive 4th Disc. So technically, there's 3 versions floating around.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Massive restock and additions here. Lots and lots of the 3-packs and still more of the simply awfuly AMC and TV guide sets along with the Mill Creek sets already listed.

Picked up:

"Tenspeed and Brownshoe" - Complete series
and 2 of the 3-packs:
"Pirates - Blood Brothers", "Cloned", and "The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe"
"Terror of Frankenstein", "PTU", and "Frostbitten"

I was amazed at the number of copies of "PTU" one could amass simply by purchasing other 3-packs to get some of the different titles. It seemed like *every* 3-pack of horror/sci-fi had a copy of PTU in the middle.

Although there's been constant restocking, it's been months since I've seen a ton of new titles at BL - until today. There was only 2 or 3 "bundled" sets and none of the director sets mentioned but lots of Paramount:

Officer and a Gentleman
American Gigolo
Reds
Ordinary People
Days of Heaven
Donovan's Reef
a couple of Jerry Lewis and Elvis Presley vehicles

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went looking high and low at my Big Lots for the ESPN triple feature with Playmakers and Tilt, but no such luck. I was a big fan of Playmakers back in the day.

I did see several bundles with both the 3 disc Bronx Is Burning and the 5 disc, and there were different ESPN titles included with certain packs.

Ended up picking up the 5 disc Bronx Is Burning with The Junction Boys and some March Madness DVD. If I wanted the 5 disc set, it was either that bundle or a bundle with two USC DVDs. No thanks! (Sorry, USC fans.)

Found decades collection

The Graduate

Obvious difference in the 5 disc and 3 disc Bronx is burning packaging but how can you identify the 3 disc with the Wal mart exclusive disc?

You can't really tell for sure outwardly; there's no indication on the case that it contains an exclusive disc (it's crammed in on top of the insert in a paper sleeve). You could tell by the heft of it by itself, but since it's bundled with two other DVDs that's hard to discern as well. You might be able to notice a little bowed out part in the front of the case, but that's it. And that's if the three DVDs are bundled with TBIB facing out.

If I remember correctly, Fox accidently shipped rental versions with the retail cases to retailers when the DVD first came out. I think these are the customer and store returns they are reselling. Which is nothing wrong with them if you don't care about special features.

Found these yesterday at one store:
- The Sting II (never seen this one listed and my store only had 1 copy that I could tell)
- Death Wish
- Message in a Cell Phone (BB)
- ...And Justice For All - Special Edition
- The Last Time (BB)
- (3-PACK) Z (BB)
- (3-PACK) Digging to China (BB)
- (3-PACK) Double Parked (BB)

(BB) = Blind Buy
(3-PACK) = Individual cases shrink-wrapped together for $3

This store was renovating and the cashier mentioned they just received a large pallet that's sitting in the back until the renovations are complete (AT LEAST 3 MONTHS!). Going to a different store tomorrow on my lunch break.

I had never heard of this film (Strings) until it was mentioned earlier in the thread, but found it today in a three-pack with Incubus (Shatner's Esperanto feature; so-so film with great photography) and Tarnation. Probably my best $3 purchase since last summer.

I mentioned earlier I opened one & it looks 100% brand new. I suspect the "reconditioned" part of the sticker may be misleading.

Saw a new batch of 3 packs today in Kent Wa. It was a bit different then what I've seen before: No Cho, No Espn, No children's stuff & the sets were much less randomly put together then what I'd seen previously. On the + side there were a couple Godard films (no box set though), a cool looking American Masters Muddy Waters Documentary & some other titles not in the previous batches I've seen.

I saw several of the ESPN 3 Packs today. The cashier tried to charge me $3 for each dvd of the 3 packs. She acted like I switched the prices so I kindly showed her all the others. Pathetic I would of left but it was the only local BL that had them. Also saw the following:
ESPN Ultimate NASCAR: Collector's Set $5
City of Angels / Michael (Double Feature)
Cary Grant & Vivien Leigh Collection
The AMC Movies: The Ultimate Collection

I almost bought The Beat That My Heart Skipped at Blockbuster so would love to find it at Big Lots. I haven't found Z either and would love that. I did find a location that had nearly a dozen copies of The Bronx is Burning packaged with other ESPN programs. I might have bought one had they been the 5 disc edition but all were the 3 disc. On the plus side I find some new titles: I picked up Love Me Tender: Cinema Classics Collection and Clint Eastwood's A Perfect World. They also had Once and I would have grabbed that if I didn't already own it.
