Re: Warner Archive sales

According to the $10 off coupon I have it says it can be applied to orders of SELECT Archive titles, but it doesn't say what meets that criteria. I added Archive titles to my cart and submitted the coupon code and it said the items do not YET meet the requirements of the coupon. What does THAT mean?

Re: Warner Archive sales

Sales and discounts do not apply to recently released WA titles. I think they have to be out for 30 days before they qualify.

All of the ones I had in my cart have been out for at least a year. I can't figure out why the code won't work nor their explanation for it.

I wish they'd hurry up & release Shearer's Trial of Mary Dugan while I'm still alive!

Most of their coupons don't work with Archive sales (once they figure out what they're doing). However, if you add enough non-Archive titles to your shopping cart, they will apply the coupon to the non-Archive titles.

I only questioned it because the fine print on the coupon says it can be applied to "SELECT" Archive titles, but when I submit the code it says the items do not YET meet the criteria of the coupon. So I guess that means that the Archive titles I added are not YET eligible for the discount. Does that sound right? Gee, it only took me 24 hours to figure this out. Not bad!

Moo, I see they(MGM) remade this with Laraine Day, and I've never seen either version on TCM. Didn't see anything on wiki or elsewhere, but are the rights held up on the story, and that's why there's no DVD for either or any showings on tv???

I'm gonna reply to this post (from a year ago) because a) it's taken me a while to make a dent in all the Archives titles I've purchased up till now and by no one else is posting their buy lists here this year. I wish they would, as it usually jogs my memory about something I wanted, or causes me to investigate titles I would have never even gave a thought too.

I'll keep this simple and just use Savants grading system. All of these were blind buys.

Paul,

I appreciate that. Haven't watched anything new in a while because I'm still waiting for a good price on non-Warner titles - specifically Black Moon. No problem ... I can wait.

The only thing recently I watched was Rio Rita. It is a fun Abbott and Costello film and the transfer is excellent.

I tried to use the coupon today on $30 worth of non-Archive titles that were discounted in the Black Friday sale and it gave me the same error message, so apparently it's only good on full priced items, which quite frankly isn't much of a deal since their full prices are full MSRP (plus sales tax) which no stores ever charge.

I may play around with it a bit when I have some more free time to see if I can get a good deal but it doesn't look good for now.

Re: Warner Archive sales

I ordered about a dozen movies on the 4th, never heard anything from WB. Finally emailed them today to see what was going on and they said...Thank you for your recent order with WB Shop.

Unfortunately, the item you have ordered, The DVD the Good Earth, is currently on backorder due to overwhelming demand.

Please accept my apologies for the delay. We are expecting the item to arrive shortly. We will send an email confirmation when your order is processed.

Is that normal? (No, no not the overwhelming demand for the Good Earth ) one movie isn't available, so the whole order has to wait for weeks to be mailed out?
Sorry to sorta hijack the thread, I was checking out all the titles for the 5 for $50, but don't want to wait for a month if there is overwhelming demand for say, Dancing Sweeties!

Content, disc quality, or combination of both?

I was commenting solely on content (from my P.O.V. obviously, others MMV).
As far as disc quality, the only discs with A/V issues were
The Burning Hills (wide scope picture with lots of aliasing and compression artifacts)
Safe In Hell - (looks like an analog video master-smeary, etc)
Story Of Three Loves - (OK- but clearly from an older, less resolved Turner era master- could easily look better in even SD)
Kona Coast - very soft and slightly washed out.

The rest were all solid, or quite nice, for their age, reputation, etc.

all viewed on a Pioneer Kuro projector from about 1 screenwidth back.

Can also add that I enjoyed Confessions Of An Opium Eater. It's not a lost classic, but it was interesting for it's era and for Price's presence (tho I think he was miscast). Have to wonder how much of this inspired Carpenter for Big Trouble In Little China.
Disc looked solid too.

Re: Warner Archive sales

WA is now promoting a multi-disc sale. Select titles are 25% off and others are 3 for $100.

You can use either their new website solely for WA,
http://shop.warnerarchive.com/home.do

or the one from WBShop:
http://www.wbshop.com/category/code/...3FOR100default

Just to let you know, WB has not yet migrated order history through to the new site. Hopefully that
will be taken care of soon.

Also of note, The Bowery Boys, Vol 1 is not included in either sale.

Re: Warner Archive sales

The strange thing is they discounted the individual volumes of season two of Eight is Enough $22.50 each, but the combo of both volumes is still $50.

Re: Warner Archive sales

SAVE5 coupon. Get $5 off all archive orders. Currently can be used multiple times though Warner has been known to change this. I was able to get blu rays of Gypsy and Deathtrap for $15 each shipped placing 2 separate orders. They are also having a 3 for $33 sale on single disks and 25% off multiple disk sets. The coupon is stackable with the sale prices. You can get the Maisie or Jean Harlow box sets for $32.46 each using the coupon and the 25% off sale.
Forbidden Hollywood sets are $24.96 each after coupon and 25% off plus tax if you live in a state where they charge sales tax.

Not to barge in on Classic's news, but...yep. Just did it myself. Three DVD-Rs for $28 seems like an okay price for me. Not great, but okay. Don't forget that there's free shipping, too (at least for the time being).

how do you stack coupon codes? As soon as I put one in, all the option I see is "remove".
