West Wing can suck it, by the way. |

No offense guy, but the last few Big Lots posts you've made make you come across like it's such a burden for you dealing with Big Lots. Maybe you'll be happier not going to Big Lots and ease yourself from this "burden".
Big Lots are not located everywhere and the sets that I have sold were priced less than $10—still a fraction of the price offered anywhere else. The people who purchased from me are quite happy that they got a deal as well. I just profited a bit for my efforts and ended up acquiring my collection for free. I call that smart, not greedy. |

Re: Big Lots Part 6
Does anyone think that after this phase ($3-$6 and those hard to find and get $10 dvd-sets) that BigLots will dry-up and it be back to the same old-stuff?
Or will it's just get better and we will all have a stock(or staking) in BigLots for the rest of the year? |

Confronted a hoarder today at a local flea market....
Today I went into a local flea market that I have not been to in almost a year. There was a new stand up with all kinds of junks but also a rather large display of $5 DVDs. I start to pick through them and it turned out there were quite a few titles that I had been looking for in there. So I gather up $30.00 worth of titles and started to walk to the counter when what did I see? BOX SETS! So I walked over to them and sure though.... Flintstones, Huckleberry Hounds, Louis & Clarks, Supermans, Popeyes, Tales From The Crypts, and so on and so on... Multiple (unopened) titles of all the sets (and no others) that have been popping up at Big Lots. How much for these sets you ask? $10.00! I quickly turned around the the fat slob behind the counter and said "I see you've been to Big Lots." He answered with "What?" in a guilty tone. I then proceed to lecture him on how evil it is to hoard up all these sets and not leave anything for the collectors who drive hours out of their way only to find everything gobbled up by money hungry hoarders. He said "I have no idea what you are talking about" again in a snotty guilty way. I then walked up to the counter with my $30.00 worth of titles, plopped them down on the counter, called him an asshole and walked away. I would NEVER support a hoarder. |
Re: Big Lots Part 6
I was at a BL in Long Beach, CA. At first it seemed as if there were no box sets there whatsoever, but after asking an employee, I was directed to the corner of the store where three whole rows of boxes were. I asked if there were any more that weren't on the shelves and was shown the boxes they had in storage by an extremely helpful employee. There were boxes full of Dukes discs and two boxes of various scattered sets. Amidst all the OC season 3s, Smallville Blu-Rays, and some Hanna Barbera sets was a lone copy of Wonder Woman Complete Series. But when I went to the checkout, one of the other employees who saw that I had a Wonder Woman set starting complaining to the helpful employee that she wanted that before. I immediately paid and left, but realized that we're not alone when it comes to Big Lots DVD hunting. The employees, who rightfully have first pick of the (Big) lot, are in the DVD huntin' game as well.

Somehow I believe they would be the first to empty the shelves should they happen upon a veritable "gold mine" of box sets—you can bet your bottom dollar on that…

I have a complete directory of every Big Lots store in the United States with store numbers, addresses, phone numbers and delivery schedules. Perhaps I should publish it all over the internet (minus the delivery schedules) with a message that urges people to call and complain about people like you. Think I am kidding? Try me. |
Re: Big Lots Part 6
if you like "dysfunctional family" sitcoms such as "married with children" and the like, pick up "war at home" if you see it in your big lots travels. bought it as a blind buy and just started watching it, it is very! funny and well written. I would kind of compare it to "grounded for life". Michael Rapaport, who is a great charactor actor, plays the father. It lasted 2 seasons from 2005-2007 before fox cancelled it, unfortunatly, the 2nd season never saw a dvd release.

Re: Big Lots Part 6
Planned a day trip to New York state today with my girlfriend as an excuse to visit two Big Lots (that I knew of) and found a few items, though probably nothing the rest of you haven't found in previous weeks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was the white trashier of the two stores that put out, so to speak: I found Dastardly & Muttley, Birdman and the Galaxy Trio, Wacky Races, Scooby Doo Movies, Popeye 1933-1938, Challenge of the Superfriends Season 1 and the Warner Animation Academy Awards set. This was close to noon, so perhaps the resellers missed this location entirely? They had enough stuff to fill two sides of those square media racks. Noticed a fair number of Super Bowl sets, Superman TV show sets, Tales from the Crypt, Tom & Jerry "movies" and Popeye . . . but not a single copy of Joey? Went to a far less white trashy Big Lots (praise Jay-sus, they exist!), further from the border, much later in the day and found (and skipped) the usual leftovers: West Wing, Roots Sequel . . . and Joey. Lots of Joey. Went back to the first Big Lots on the way back to Canada for larfs and most of it was picked clean, though I did grab the last remaining Flintstones Season 2 and Superman Serials set and an extra Popeye set (possibly for trade, although I can't imagine anyone hasn't already found this one). The checkout girl at this store did say there'd be more stuff out on Thursday, but that'll be a little out of my way ;). As someone else mentioned, the gas and wear 'n tear people are racking up on their cars to get this stuff must mitigate some of the savings, although these are damned good savings. If it weren't for being able to make a day trip out of this, I probably would have had to pass altogether. - - - - - - - - - - - - Anyhoo, Chauncey's firing up the airship for Texas again so that I may resume preparations for the war of the feculent diapers with the good "Doctor" Phibes (doctor indeed . . . ). The non-white trashy Big Lots in New York was so kind as to have a sizable supply of pool noodles in stock this very day. The poor bastard won't know what hit him, I'm afraid. Harumph harumph! |

Normally I am pretty easy going and try to refrain from making an open threat like that but when someone blatently says they buy everything they can at Big Lots and sell it for a profit, it ticks me off to no end. Especially after all of the hell I have went through trying to find all of this stuff only to find out that someone like this jerk has already wiped out the store. I have no doubt that there are many others who feel exactly like I do about these bottom-feeding leeches. If there are any Big Lots store managers or assistant managers who just happen to be reading this. I urge you to impose some sort of limits on the quantity of DVD's and/or boxed-sets that any one customer may buy at one time within any given day. You can be assured that it will not affect your sales figures or quotas because there are ample buyers out there who are more than willing to buy your inventory. |

The fact that you find this whole situation to be funny says a lot. Anyway, you've been trolling for a while now and I think you've been fed enough so I am going to step off my soapbox and go get some much needed rest after a long day of battling resellers and hoarders for DVD's. |

Re: Big Lots Part 6
True Blood? Gilmore Girls? Awesome. Pics please. And how much were they? $3 or $6? I have the Blu-ray for True Blood coming in the mail, so I kinda hope only the SD version shows up. I mean it basically just came out....
Deadwood will be mine, for sure, if it shows up. Looks like we are in for the start of another WAVE! |
Re: Big Lots Part 6
Texas folks, any word on Batman TAS Seasons, Powerpuff, or Looney Tunes in the area?

Re: Big Lots Part 6
What? How the heck is "True Blood" showing up at Big Lots less than 3 months after it's been released? If there's a wave of HBO's getting ready to crash, please let there be "The Sopranos" complete set in it.

Too bad you weren't on this crusade before you came along and hit your local stores. Wherever that top secret location might be. You do know that hiding dvd's behind the board games cheats just as many, or more, real customers out of finding something as it does the re-sellers? Especially since you're so adamant about protecting your location. |
