Re: Big Lots Part 5

Another trip and no $10 sets. The only noticeable additions were the 50 movie packs and some war titles. However, I did manage to acquire a few $2.40 titles w/coupon ...well, technically, I stashed a few lone ones behind some PC games earlier this week in preparation for today and no one was the wiser.

Picked up:

-The Hidden (no pun intended)
-God, the Devil and Bob
-The Player
-State and Main
-Reel Talent
-Rock 'n' Roll High School
-It's the Rage
-Willard

Also purchased a Sauder media shelf for $20. It's practically 2 foot shorter than my current shelves and it's not exactly top quality, but it'll suffice since I was in need of a temporary storage solution. I'm sure it'll make a suitable garage bookshelf for some engine repair manuals and the backlog of unread magazines I have once eventually replaced. I felt compelled to share that.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Not a damn thing at any of the four Chattanooga BLs or the northern 2 (Dalton and Ft. Oglethorpe) in Georgia, either. All I want is the IMAX and America's Game sets (well, I'd take some of the Hanna-Barbera stuff if I stumbled across it. And the George Reeves "Superman" things as well) *sigh*...

For those of you in SC, NC, GA, and TN perhaps, would any of you be willing to formally keep an eye out for stuff for one another?

Nice haul. The one here in Muskegon was picked over today. I think the Kubrick, America's Game, IMAX and Looney Tunes sets were already taken. Plenty of Roots: The Complete Collection left. I would have been there this morning, but wanted to watch The British Open and then had to go to work. Oh well.

With Springfield closing, that leaves Clifton as the only store within reasonable driving distance for me. ...And that store doesn't get squat. Last week I asked the manager there when they'd be getting anything new. He confirmed that he has a shipment in the stock room, but is holding it for the 7/26 sale. I specifically asked about the Smallvulle S6 Blu and the Looney Tunes set. He told me there were no Blu's and no cartoons in that shipment (whether we choose to believe this is up to us...).

I live in NJ but was on the road in MD this weekend and happened to stop in the Edgewood, MD, store on my way home today. TONS of the new stuff: Flintstones seasons 1-4, maybe 1-5, Adventures of Superman several seasons, Superman serials 1948-1950, Lois and Clark s1, s3, Jacques Cousteau, Penelope Pitstop, Dastardly & Muttley, Popeye, Pebbles & BamBam, Larry King, Blade, Josie and the Pussycats, Space Ghost, etc. The best part is (for you guys, not for me cuz I'm already back in NJ) is that they have lots more boxes but can't unpack them until they sell more because there's no room on the rack. They expected to put more out tomorrow.

Good luck!

They had several of the 10$ Roots sets, but I didnt see any of the Looney Toons or Kubrick sets. I didnt see any Tales from the crypt.
I bought all 6 seasons of The Flintstones, the big Looney Toons set, & 15 more sets Saturday. They had a bigger selection yesterday than they did today when I went. I was going to wait and buy mine today to use the coupon but I'm glad I didn't now. They did have 4 different Tales from the crypt Saturday but I didn't buy any because I was too busy buying the others.

I don't plan on keeping some of these, but I figure'd it'd be good barter for trade.

You should have asked the manager if you could bring back the items and rebuy them with the 20% coupon. Worked for me today in 3 locations.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Long time lurker, thought I would finally join the discussion. To make a long story short I had to travel back to my hometown (Louisville) this weekend and I decided to stop at any Big Lots along the way that wasn't to far out of the way and even stopped in some stores in the St Louis area once I got back home this evening. So in all I went to roughly 15 different stores. You would think stopping at stores in 4 different states I would find something, but man it was a total bust, and now I feel like a fool. At least with the ad next week I got some hope to finding something.

Where in California are you at and which store was the good one? I'm by LAX and our stores haven't had any restocks at all here since the first ones hit!

Not by you, I'm afraid. I live in Sacramento.

For those in the Valley it was the store at 4401 Elkhorn Blvd in Sac. They seemed to have just got a fresh batch in today because they had multiple copies of what I grabbed. There was also a shopping cart off to the side that was like a dump bin with nothing but the sets, but as I was leaving they were throwing them in to one massive display heap.

Oh boy... More competition.

I kid... Welcome to the looney bin.

They had shit yesterday. Eastland had shit today. The employees at Eastland are starting to look at me kind of strangely.

Did you see Tales From The Crypt by any chance? I'm really starting to become annoyed by these daily trips... No plans to stop tomorrow. Unless...

ugh.

As the song goes, what a difference a day makes.

Not.

Same old same old from yesterday at the BL on Vineland in North Hollywood tonight, nothing new and so many sets of JOEY Season One I have now come to hate that show with a passion unequaled by even the most ruthless and sadistic barbarian measures of passionate hatred. And I don't even know what that show is!

Anyway, scored some underwear and socks tonight with 20% off, like a bad nightmare of a Christmas morning gone horribly wrong from when you were a kid.

You and me both. I saw so many copies of it everywhere it made me sick.

I think Dukes of Hazard Season 5 was next. Then one of the West Wing seasons and finally Nip/Tuck Season 4. I must've come across over 500 copies between all the stores I went to today.
