Re: Big Lots Part 4

I just picked up the Complete Wonder Woman for $6 ! and Roots and Six Feet Under season 3.
They had Tons of box sets only a couple of the Wonder Woman ,But tons of Night Court , Dallas, OC , Knots Landing and Blade.

It's funny I told the cashier that she was right about Wednesday being the day the new shipment came in and she said funny thing is the truck hasn't arrived yet.

I looked at that one twice. At first glance, I thought it was Superbowl 31 - 15. The series can't go backwards, then I realized that "L" must be fifty (I thought it was 5), so it really is Superbowl 31 - 40. Why can't they use regular numbers like everyone else?

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Tax was .36 cents per set, I actually had all the shipping envelopes given to me by my mother, who gets them free. I wound up profiting around $4 or $5 bucks. So no, it wasn't really worth the time/effort. It was more less a lil experiment just to make a lil extra cash, but no it wasn't worth the effort at all. The lil "get rich" quotes, ya..I was definitely serious about that (sarcasm). I more less just saw a bunch of random TV sets I "figured" would sell for a little more than I paid for them, WHICH they did. But no, I didn't lose any money, but it was not worth the effort at all, and more less was a waste of time.

Well, you definitely lost money if you factor in the time involved, unless you make less than minimum wage.

Plus you screwed a few people who go to BL counting on the regular shipments being there, and alienated people at a DVD site dedicated to helping each other.

Food for thought perhaps?

Yea, in my 400ppl population town there was plenty of you coming to get those sets. I actually made them more readily available with FREE shipping in the end, for almost no profit at all. If you just subtract my OBVIOUSLY dead serious "$ for college" statement, then i've done nothing but favors for the people who bought em. Saving them gas/time to get the sets.

You're math is way off. At $6.36 each and an average selling price of $10.85 a set, you still had to PAY for the shipping, eBay fees and Paypal fees. Not to mention the time packaging them up, driving down to the post office and mailing them out.

Hell, lets just say eBay, Paypal and the post office waived all those fees ( ) - you would still only make $4.35 a set.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I don't understand how so many people are running across multiple copies of sets(in this case Wonder Woman the complete series) that MANY have asked for help in finding on this thread and people just pick one up for themselves leave the others behind? No one has to save the world but where's the dvd love?

Buddy, didn't just see see my last post??? I admit to that, but obviously you get off to correcting people? All you did is re-iterate what I just stated. I didn't make any profits at all, but I did provide the ebay community with a good deal whereas they would have been paying $24~ or so to obtain these sets via amazon or DD. Get over it.

You obviously started out to sell these for profit - just because they sold for far, far less than what you wanted does not turn you into a good guy. If you wanted to be a "good guy" you would have sold them for $8.99 each via BuyItNow which would cover your total for the item, eBay fees & Paypal fees. Then charge the $2.50 - $3 to ship. But you didn't - it was a way for you to make a profit and it failed like we all told you it would. Hopefully you have a special fund set aside for your kids College fees that you can't touch...

LOL, That's the only thing I said that I admittedly would considered "out of line" for this type of thread. But regardless, since you've done nothing but make one smart a** response after another spitting on the effort to re sell these items, thus knowing they "might" go for a little less than amazon or DD still yet. The funniest part of this all, the the obviously effort I've noted in MANY other posts prior to my effort, chanting "EBAY BOUND, EBAY BOUND" speaking of amazon DEAL of the Day items and such. "ONE FOR ME, ONE FOR EBAY". But no, you decide to pick my effort as your shining example to dig through past forums to find these, and no doubt make bids yourself, hell, might of even won one of them. You must have as much IF NOT MORE time on your hand to go through that kinda trouble, to scrutinize an individual.

Can we just end this pissing contest? You look no better continuing to drag this out, Gizmo. Is anyone else sick of having to scroll through ten of the same "let's drag SimpsonsFan through the mud" posts to actually get to another post about what other deals people have found at Big Lots? You made your point like 2 days ago... let it go.

When you have a handful of posts its very easy to click 'View All' and read the ones you did - which also mentioned your eBay bound items. I didn't frequent the other threads (or simply didn't care enough to reply) until you made some pretty bold statements here how you bought 20 sets to pay for your kids College fund. As I said last week, its one thing to buy 1 or 2 for eBay to 'pay for' your set, but 20? Really?

And me placing bids on your items? Why would I want to make the price jump higher? I have almost 900 feedbacks on eBay and have no need reason to go into a bidding war on some stupid box sets I could get for $6 myself. I do feel the need to donate to your kids College funds though. Just stay out of Vegas, K?

Found a lot of the good classic Warner titles at the Big Lots in Milwaukee on Hwy 100. There were still a good deal left when I was there yesterday. They also had a pretty nice selection at the location in Oak Creek (27th Street). I don't think DVDs move very well in either location (I recognized many that were there more than a month ago, unless they had an abundance of those titles). I haven't seen any box sets though. Maybe on the 12th?

thanks franks!

The closest one to me is Eau Claire. It has been nothing special for the last couple restocks... I have been thinking about a drive to Wausau...

But in general, you won't find any gold at Big Lots when the same stock has been offered out to other wholesalers as well who already tried dumping this stock for a higher price. That's why Big Lots has it - no one else wants it anymore and they bought more of it so they get a price break. Great for those of us who actually want to watch these (or gift them) instead of selling them.

Wait, so you do this so often that you have a system down with your iPhone, but you're dogging simpsonsfan?

And you have 900 ebay ratings ... seems you've been greedy yourself a time or two. Hundred.

Just because you don't do it at Big Lots doesn't make you any better. Neither does your 19000 posts.

I've been with eBay for 6 years and sell a lot of stuff. DVDs, Blu-rays, Toys, etc. I also buy a lot. I didn't start a new account to re-sell stuff from Big Lots. But hey, wag the finger at me if you want, no biggie. I'm not the one bragging about paying for my kids College education with Animaniac DVDs.

Point taken. It was pretty naive of simpsonsfan to post that and then be surprised by the crap tornado that followed.

I was just a bit surprised that you piled on so hard when it looks like you may have done something similar.

The 19000 posts crack was a cheap shot, sorry.

Because it gets tiresome that people can't find products because some jerk went in and bought them all. As I said, if you want to buy an extra one or two to resell to 'pay for' the item you get to keep then alright...I get it. But buying 20 sets "all of them" is just cruel to others who may want to get them. Remember - many people here travel from store to store to locate a certain title and when some guy buys them all it sucks for everyone else.

I'm still trying to track down Smallvile and Nip/Tuck on Blu-ray but one of the sales associates told me "some guy bought like 5 or 6 of them the other day". Just wonderful.

I agree with your assessment of 27th. But I was at Hwy 100 yesterday and they had TONS of box sets. Not sure how you could miss them... An entire white table was filled with em, plus there were some boxes under the table with more... East Capitol also has tons of box sets. They have the largest selection, me thinks...

Re: Big Lots Part 4

one of the Big Lots stores I go to said a flea market seller and a movie stop employee came in a cleaned them out before I got there.

Also one of the stores told me they aren't putting out there box sets until Sunday and when she asked how I knew about them I said other stores are selling them already.
