I saw Friends 1, 3, 5 and 8 in Greenville, SC (Farrs Bridge/White Horse Road area). At least two/three copies of each as of yesterday around 5 PM. Was in electronics aisle scattered about.

Is there any way to tell if a sealed S3 set has the bonus disc enclosed without opening it? There were two sets at the Big Lots in Richmond, and despite all the 'feeling' I could do to both sides of the box, I couldn't feel an obvious 'lump.' Is the bonus disc sandwiched inside the folds of the digipack (i.e. making it virtually undetectable), or should I be able to tell without having to open the wrapper?

I got mine years ago, but I don't think you can tell w/o opening it. Big lots return policy is pretty liberal, so I would just go ahead & open it, if its not there, take it back for another.

Elyria Ohio Big Lots today had a huge new Warner shipment. I bought

The bad Seed
Dead Ringer
He knows Youre Alone
They drive By night
Dark Passage
Passage to Marseille
Each dawn I die
Bullets or Ballots

Tons of each as well as at least 3 dozen Scooby Doo Movies Sets. Also saw but already own

Caged Warner camp classics
LAnd of Pharoahs camp classics

All of these were clamshell, not snapper or thincase. Best of luck!

I would say then you're probably right. Knots and Falcon were two shows I never watched back in the day (but was aware of), so probably just mistook one for the other when I was remembering what I saw on the dump table.

Pretty sure it was a season one set.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Having never even been in a Big Lots before, I had to check out the one nearby since someone mentioned finding seasons of Nip/Tuck and Smallville on Blu-ray in another thread....
Well, one store led to two, then three, finally I ended up visiting every one in the Richmond, VA area yesterday as the hunt for these DVD deals consumed me!

I ended up finding (and buying) all of these box sets:
Smallville S6 & S7 Blu-ray
Joey S1 (now I can buy S2 from Canada and see all those unaired episodes!)
Thundercats S1 V1 & S2 V2
The History Of Rock And Roll
Animaniacs V1 & V2
Pinky And The Brain V1 & V2
Scooby Doo S3
The New Scooby Doo Movies
Superfriends V2
Superfriends: Legendary Super Powers complete series
Wonder Woman complete collection (only $6, WTF?? How they are selling this one at the same price as the individual seasons is beyond me....)

Also bought some $2 animated/childrens titles: a couple animated Alf DVDs for me, a few Care Bears for nostalgia for the wife, and a Clifford for my two year old....

I guess I should check this thread (and these stores) more often now!

PS: Forgot to mention, saw lots of other stuff while I was out there, but I either already own it (like Friends, Dukes Of Hazzard, The OC, and standard def Nip/Tuck), or was not interested in it, even at $6 (like ER, Dallas, West Wing, etc.).....

I made the circuit of the two local BLs yesterday. The one in north Huntsville didn't have anything, but the lack of DVDs on the floor makes me think that they are preparing to put new stuff out very soon.

But in south Huntsville... success!

I left with:

Wait Till Your Father Gets Home S1 (only copy they had)
The New Scooby-Doo Movies (ditto)
Tracey Takes On S2
Roots 30th Anniversary Edition
Night Court S1

I also saw

Knots Landing S1
Life Goes On S1
Joey S1
Dukes of Hazzard S5
West Wing S2
The O.C. S2
Super Friends V2
Pinky and the Brain V2
Smallville S4
Scooby-Doo Collection (with a Sam's Club Exclusive sticker on front)

and...

Smallville S7 Blu-Ray

I also saw some NBA and Super Bowl DVDs, but not many, and I'm sure there's some more I'm forgetting.

I usually just lurk here, but wanted to give HUGE thanks to everyone who has been posting updates about these Big Lots box sets. I have found a LOT of great stuff in the past week or so.

I found two titles today that I don't think I have seen mentioned yet:

Superman: The Animated Series, Vol. 1 (I snagged the only copy)

Justice League Double Feature (2 discs) - Secret Origins / Paradise Lost (saw a few of these)

Smallville S6 Blu
OC S3
Friends S1, S2, S4, S10....

No new sets put out today but 5 flats of the $3 titles that have shown up before. I did manage to finally get:

Outland
Pennies From Heaven
Hero at Large

None of which were slashed but some of the assortment were slashed with white stickers over the slash.

One that caught my eye that I had to leave was a John Wayne collection title I hadn't seen mentioned. Tall in the Saddle is what I think it was called.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

^^Interesting. I picked up "Tall in the Saddle" yesterday and the UPC wasn't slashed. It was the only copy I saw. I've also seen several slashed titles with the white stickers over the slash/UPC.

Went back today and found an unslashed copy of "There was a Crooked Man" which I snagged. I'll return the slashed copy. :)

Also found:

The Gay Divorcee
Roberta
Flying Down to Rio

all slimpaks and "The Gay Divorcee" wasn't in shrink wrap (found 4 copies and none were).

As someone else has mentioned I think these originally might have been in the "Astaire & Rogers Collection, Vol. 2" and have been unpackaged for clearance. I've not seen "The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle" or "Carefree" and "Follow the Fleet" is not part of that set.

And they had added Nightcourt - S1 to the box sets. The ladies reorganizing the wire rack (had a diagram to tell them where to put everything) told me there were no other TV sets in the back. :(

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I had picked up Nightmares & Dreamscapes for $6 the other day as it was included with the TV on DVD display. Today I spotted a copy in with the regular $3 DVDs and it was priced at $3 so I'll be taking the $6 one back. Just a heads up if you're wanting this title, you could find one marked $3. I called my next nearest store in Tallahassee, Fl and was told the TV on DVD display is not out yet. Their sale date starts on Wednesday and not Sunday or so I was told. My local store here in Thomasville, GA had added a few more today that included all but S6 and S7 of Dallas, a single copy of Wonder Woman S3, Blade the series and not much else. I did manage to pick up Animaniacs vol 2.

This is funny. I used to work at a Camelot in Houston while I was attending college in the mid 90s. My manager would literally shuffle through the shipments to see what cutout laserdiscs were coming in and buy what he didn't already own. He had one hell of a collection back in the day.

Hit my biglots just now after work and they were just starting to put out the box sets! I grabbed a History of Rock, Animaniacs V1 & Pinky & the Brain V2. They had lots of these titles but not much else - I saw Joey S1 and one each of a couple Dukes of Hazzard sets. No blu-rays or 2-disc SEs that I've been looking for. They did have a couple of SouthPark Bundles - not season sets but 3 dvds shrink-wrapped together for $6. I already have almost all the seasons so I passed on those. I never watched animaniacs or Pinky & the brain so I hope those are good. I might go back before closing to see if they put anything else out.

My usual Big Lots stores had a fresh batch of dvd box sets out today. Picked up the following:

Pinky and The Brain Vol. 1&2
The History Of Rock & Roll
Scooby Doo, Where Are You? S3

Wonder Woman S3 (last copy)
Wait Til Your Father Gets Home

Saw plenty of the other boxes (Dallas, Friends, Joey, Dukes Of Hazzard, Super Friends, Scooby Doo Movies, ER, etc.) But no sign of Wonder Woman Complete Series.:( Hope to spot Animaniacs V.3 and the elusive Wonder Woman box someday.:)

May be lucky to find one of those - my local BL only had 3 copies on the shelf & I believe I was the 1st one in the store that day to get one(it was a freshly stock item). I can't see any other BL getting much more - nothing like number for the Roots, Dukes of Hazzard, etc series.

Anyway, there were no ER sets, so I guess you don't have to be in a huge hurry to check Richmond out.

Thanks for the post! :)

That said... I went down this evening to grab any extras that I could after I read your post. Planned on snagging any Blu and Wonder Woman Complete for the peeps here. Of course, they were gone by the time that I got there. Almost missed the display since it was separated from the normal DVD section. Needed to make a return anyhoo (LOTR: TT - long story) but I just exchanged it for Roots 30th instead. So, all was not a loss...

I'm getting the feeling that the ER sets are one of the harder to find items. Fingers crossed that there may be some more on Sunday, but I'm not really expecting to find any...

Forgot to mention... On the way back in, since the Richmond display was out of bounds so to speak, I buzzed by the Turfland / Lane Allen spot. Nothing new but I picked up Roots Next Gen while I was there since I had Roots 30th.

Gas money is starting to suck a bit but I'm very much considering a two Lexington store, Georgetown, Frankfort trip the next time... Hope I don't drive on to Louisville. All I need is an excuse... Ugh. For the time being I'm pretending that Florence, Newport and Cincinnati don't exist.
