Well, I went to a few Big/Lots stores today, and scored a few interesting titles...
First, I picked up SMALLVILLE Season 7 - BLU RAY ($6) and ROOTS (30th Anniversary Edition) - DVD ($6) Then I picked up Buffalo Bill D-Day The Sixth Of June Casino Royale (1967) Super Friends - Legendary Super Powers Show complete series ($6) Helen Of Troy When We Were Kings and a Dallas Cowboys double set (Complete History and Super Bowl Champions - $6) I couldn't believe that I found Smallville on Blu Ray - but there it was! The Roots find was also a major score (I've been wanting to pick that up for years, going back to the original DVD release). I'm a happy Big/Lots shopper today. |

The North Hollywood BL I went to is all by itself on Vineland, about a block north of Magnolia with a parking lot so small you actually have to wait in line for people to leave in order to get a space. It is truly a pitiful store. |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
Forgive me if someone has mentioned it - for those of you finding the box sets, how many of them are there in the display? Single copies...multiples? I remember when Who's The Boss was being spotted, I only recall seeing a single copy the whole time I was looking for it.

Re: Big Lots Part 4
I checked the 2nd closest store to me today, nothing there. The new Warner batch hasn't shown up here yet. I hope we get them!
|
Re: Big Lots Part 4
I learned something today. If you go into a store like big lots and look at the dvd display and it looks like nothing but the same old titles, take your time and look a little deeper before walking away. I went into a big lots today and it looked like nothing new, and after combing through a bit, found 1 copy of "god, the devil, and bob". sometimes they will get just a small handful of titles and mix them in with what is already there. also found a lions gate double feature of "death wish v" with a movie called "double whammy" with denis leary, dont believe this one has ever been mentioned.
|
Re: Big Lots Part 4
FYI - there were 3 copies of the Smallville Blu Ray, and 4 copies of Roots at the Big/Lots in Oceanside, CA.
I ran across a lot of Bond DVD's at a couple stores, including Murrieta, CA. |
Re: Big Lots Part 4

I should also mention that they had 2 copies of Smallville Season 4 on DVD at the Oceanside, CA store.

Will be hitting up the Sherman Way and Sepulveda one this morning. Always forget that store is there. |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
One of my local stores still got nothing, but at the other i picked up:
Pinky/Brain V1 Thundercats S1 V1 Scooby Doo complete 3rd Season Super Bowl XI-XX Super Bowl XXXI-XL DYING to find the rest of Thundercats, Smallville, Animaniacs, and the remaining Super Bowls (and I thought someone mentioned ER, too?). Hopefully the other store gets this assortment. Unfortunately, their DVDs are always a DISASTER. |

Re: Big Lots Part 4
Found assorment @ a couple BLs today -
Picked up ER S2, S3, S6 & S9 Dallas S7 Dukes of Hazard S2, S6 Drew Carey Show S1 Nip/Tuck S4 (reg DVD) Animaniacs V1 Blade Complete Series Super Bowl X1-XX & XXI-XXX Pro Football Hall of Fame History of Rock & Roll Justice League Collection (3pk) Where are you Scooby-Doo? S3 Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection 2 Stephen Kings Nightmare & Dreamscapes They also had - Dukes of Hazard S4 Night Court S1 The OC S2 LA Lakers Basketball dynasty (something or other - not a fan so I don't recall exact title) Scooby-Doo Collection (3pk) and also an assortment of double-feature titles - too numerous to list. |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
Nothing new at the lone Big Lots here. I'm really wanting to find those Dallas seasons and maybe the Scooby and Justice League as well.
Looks like some of the same season sets are showing up at Rite Aid, as I found Wonder Woman S1 & S2, The Dukes of Hazzard S4 and The OC S2 today at one location. Didn't buy any of them though. They are higher at $9.99 each, but that's still a great deal for a whole season IMO. |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
Nothing new at my local, but they did have a little table set up in the front to sign up for the BuzzClub. Could another 20% off coupon be on the horizon (4th of July weekend) or is this wishful thinking?
|
Re: Big Lots Part 4
Just got the new ads emailed to me (BuzzClub), but no sign of a coupon (and no mention of any dvd deals)

Actually, now that I say that are people finding season two of Thundercats? I saw a lot of season one but none of two.
|
Re: Big Lots Part 4
Sterling had no blu rays or TV seasons.
|
Re: Big Lots Part 4
I grabbed a copy of Roots: 30th Anniversary Edition for $6. They had about 10 copies along with a handful of copies of Smallville S4, Six Feet Under S3, and a shelf full of Life Goes On S1

I was in the BL closest to me today & asked the manager about these. He claimed he had no idea BL's were even getting them in. I wonder if it's intentionally regional, or just random. Somewhat OT (?)...Found an interesting score today elsewhere. I was in a store called A.J. Wright, which is primarily a closeout clothing store. They had a shelf of DVD's. Many of the standard BL titles. Priced from $3 to $6. They had a few DVD box sets @ $9.99 apiece. I recall a "Friends" box and "Nip/Tuck" S4. Then...there it was: The BluRay box of "Nip/Tuck" S4. Also $9.99. Wish they would also have had Smallville...but I grabbed that "Nip/Tuck" in half a heartbeat nevertheless. Wonder why Warners is dumping BluRay boxes at these closeout places... |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
Also found "Puddle Cruiser" at my 2 locations. Dismissed it at first, thinking the cover art was "Get It On" or something.

If they had it I definitely would have bought it. |

Re: Big Lots Part 4
Double Whammy is a good find. The TV box sets assortment is unbelievable!
|
Re: Big Lots Part 4
It's amazing how the selection can vary from store to store. I hit a handful of locations. At one store, it appeared as if they hadn't seen any new titles in weeks. At another, it would like they didn't have room to display everything they had and it was piled together like the Wal-mart $5 bin.
Found many of the animated sets previously seen, but none of the "regular" tv show seasons. Picked up extras of several sets for those having trouble finding what they want. Check here for a list. |

The store is a disaster though with all the DVD stuffed on some small portable displays. Plenty of Bond left as well. |
