Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

The Halloween DVDs are out.

Picked up "Frankenstein: 75th Anniversary Edition" for $7.50. An empty spot on the wall read "Dracula75th". That will be part of the sale. There were a lot of three movie sets going for $13.00.

A word of warning.

I had to make an exchange on that DVD. The adhesive deteriorated and the package fell apart. This new one is decent, but I can see it separating.

Too bad none of the Universal Legacy collections are not part of the sale. The only ones I have are "The Mummy" and "Creature From The Black Lagoon".

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Found Redneck Zombies 20th anniversary edition ay my Walmart in Kentucky for $5. It was a value bin movie but at my Walmart all of the Halloween Value bin movies were put on a shelf in the Halloween aisle, so could vary per Walmart. The $5 shelf also had:
The Shining remake 2 disc
Arachnaphobia
Zombie Honeymoon
Pumpkincarver
Poltergeist (single disc)
Friday the 13th (remake)
Joy Ride
Village of the Damned (remake)
Scream
Shaun of the Dead
Final Destination
Fangorias Roadkill

I noticed that the new release "Chromeskull: Laid to Rest II" is $7.50. I've seen decent reviews for it so I might blind buy.

Robert: I saw your post from a while back regaring the trouble you were having with your Magnavox DVD recorder. I have the same model as you and having the same trouble. My question is did you ever get your recorder working? would you mind sending me a post, if not here you can email me @ [email protected]
My player just started acting up, I would be very grateful.

Thanks
Jackie Marie

the new Halloween wall selection sucks. I liked the new horror movies that the $5 bin was stocked with. Got a copy of Redneck Zombies

Yep. As odd as it was, I did indeed find a copy of redneck zombies. Just when I was going to give up, looked over and there it was. All for my choosing. Honestly, crappy movie but for the share weirdness I had to pick it up. Plus, the special features should be worth it.

I wanted to chime in on this, and say, yes, it's in some way disappointing that the "official" Halloween display has usual, run-of-the-mill releases that probably any one of us has, but good stuff has been relegated to ... that bin. Lost my wedding band digging in that godforsaken thing, once.

Finally got Redneck Zombies.

Friend works at WM and found it for me. He said the box that comes with the newer 5 buck movies- Shining remake 2 disc
Arachnaphobia
Zombie Honeymoon and so on....

that RedNeck Zombies is only 1 per box, while all the others have multiples.

This sounds about right. While I haven't seen Zombie Honeymoon at all (it sucks anyways) I've seen plenty of other Halloween titles while only seeing one Redneck Zombies per dump bin in the 2 stores I've been to since yesterday.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Thanks for the info on Redneck Zombies. Never seen it, but I love Troma stuff and the price was right. Couldn't find it at my local store, even if it was in the bin. What a mess that thing is: you pull one title out and a minute later it sinks to the bottom, never to emerge again.

Dropped by another location in Lexington, KY while I was out seeing a movie. Spent a few minutes sifting through the junk and somehow one single copy found it's way to the top of the heap.

The only other new item I spotted was a triple feature of the Cannon Movie Tales (Hansel & Gretel, Rumpelstiltskin and Sleeping Beauty) released by MGM. Wonder if there are more sets of these available...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I picked up Redneck Zombies and 8-Movie Pack Midnight Horror Collection V.2 today for $5 each. I probably wouldn't have noticed Redneck Zombies if it wasn't for this board. The 8 pack contains the following:

Watch Me
Deadfall Trail
The Fear Chamber
Evil Bong 2
Demonic Toys 2
Doll Graveyard
Haunted From Within
Zombie Dearest

I picked it up for the three Full Moon titles (Evil Bong 2, Demonic Toys 2 and Doll Graveyard). I'm sure the rest aren't that great. Now if I could only find the second Puppet Master collection or the Subspecies collection.

I found it and went and did a price check. It is $5!

Criterion is in the dumpbin! Criterion is in the dumpbin!

They're no better than Mill Creek Entertainment now!
