Not bad for $16, although we were very upset about the Silent Hill aspect ratio.
Thanks for the heads up. I had purchased it before I read this, and while the backcover states anamorphic WS for both features, I noticed the top security strip says Silent Hill FS. In any case, I returned it this morning.

I've been to 2 Walmart stores, but nothing, nada! I think I missed the boat here on the good stuff, no Centennials, no Into the Wild. Quite upsetting, I might say!

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I just came back from checking my store and nothing new. I really wanted to find Reds, Centennials, and maybe Ringu. Oh well.

Into the Wild (2-disc) - I still have the one-disc version unopened at home.
My store had that display, but they were $4. That kinda ticked me off so I passed. I hope to find some of the other displays with better movies anyway...

Nothing at my local store, I asked an associate if they knew of any $3 display and all he said was "Uh, I don't know... Let me ask someone else." He walked away and never came back, go figure.

I live/work relatively close (1-5 miles) to 4 stores. The store that we generally call the "ghetto" store was priced at $4, the other 3 stores were priced at $3. Very odd but expected from Wal-mart.

Well the WM here in Thomasville, GA had the display set up near the front of the store and they were priced at $4. Never figured WM to be a business that would penalize consumers because of where they live. I didn't spot a Ringu and I would have probably bought Roman Holiday and Casshern, but I passed just on general principle. I'm heading to walmart.com to give them some valuable feedback.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I've been to 4 Walmarts and they all had the same titles. What pisses me off the most is that none of them had any of the Centennial or Ringu. Glad I found the 2-disc Zodiaz during the last $3-5 sale. Did find MGM's Midnight Madness of The Land that Time Forgot/The People that Time Forgot in the $5 bin.

Went to 2 stores, both were $4. Very odd that some are $4 and some are $3.

Went to my local store yesterday and nothing set up yet, went today and they had the display but it was $4.. limited selection also but it was full. Passed... for $3 I was willing to buy a few but I didn't feel the need to buy any for $4.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

All $3 DVDs are being marked up to $4, it is just a matter of when the electronics department manager for that particular store gets to the price changes.

My store is switched to $4. I picked up Centennial Roman Holiday and Sunset Blvd. and the Ringu set. Interested in Reds, Odd Couple, and I would love to find Steel Dawn too.

I saw Next of Kin (which I picked up), Point Break, and Icon in the $5 bin so I assume it is there. Or is there a Swayze section to the $3/$4 display?

Is there interest in a Wal Mart exchange thread set up like the Big Lots one? There's been a lot of great stuff the last few weeks. And surprisingly a lot of YMMV.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Saw a few more at my local store (still no ringu!) - the price is also $4 now (when I asked if they had any more $4 dvds in the back, the employee in electronics said "Wow, these were just $3 earlier today", but that all titles were out). I did find a few of these in the "latin" $5 dump bin (next to the "normal" $5 dump bin). I also saw Charlies Angels (1 and 2, I believe) and xXx in the $3/4 section

The same display that was $3 yesterday was up to $4 today. I bought Beowulf: Director's Cut 2-pack with Beowulf the PC Game.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

My walmart did the same. They changed the price from $3 to $4. By the way, if you don't find the Ringu set, maybe is somewhere else in the DVD racks. I found mine in an endcap different than the cardbox. There were around 5 more in the store after I got mine.

I've been to two stores and they have no $3/$4 dvd's whatsoever. So enjoy, everyone else!

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I thought I might check out 'Where the Wild Things Are' this afternoon. I figured I could avoid a slew of kiddies by catching a weekday matinee. Little did I realize so many mothers would bring their screaming toddlers to see it on a Friday (and that the screening would be oversold). Anyway, this trip to daycare - er, I mean the theater - gave me an excuse to visit two different Wal-Marts.

No Ringu, no Centennials, no Marathon Man. I checked every endcap just to be sure. I did find two copies of the 'Into the Wild' special edition among what seemed like a couple hundred copies of 'Charlie's Angel's: Full Throttle. Total blind buy (and priced $4), but I didn't want to make the trip empty handed. I considered picking up 'Reds' for a potential trade, but the only copy I could find was a floater with a puncture mark on the front cover. I might try back later, but the displays seemed mostly stocked with the same old $5 bin staples (Days of Thunder, Jackass: The Movie, Sky Captain). I really don't see them moving that much inventory this weekend.
