anyone been to any of the Southern California stores of late-what is inventory prices like? Not sure if 50% off fulll retail is really a deal these days...

The Vacaville, CA store is at all DVDs/CDs 50% off. I picked up The Young Ones-Extra Stoopid Edition for 29.99 and Futurama into the Wild Green Yonder for 14.99. The Futurama deal was only ok, but I'm happy with the Young Ones deal. They still had a ton of stuff, including a bunch of criterion titles.

Went to another Borders today. Picked up Spaced for $29.99 and Undeclared for $24.99.

There were some other titles I wanted, but am going to wait and see what happens when they go to 60%.

I was in the Mission Viejo, CA store today. They're doing the 40% off with red tag sale. Not a lot of the blu-rays were marked, which was a bummer.

Union City Borders is 50% off everything as of this past weekend. They said it will be up to 75% off in about 2 weeks or sooner if the 50% off sale doesnt go well.

I had stopped off at the Mason OH Borders and everything was still 40% off. The cashier was saying that their sale was going to end in a week or so, making it sound like the remnants would be shipped off somewhere.

St. Peters store in the St. Louis area was 40% this weekend.

That could change to 50% this week, depending on the sales according to the worker I spoke to. He said they have short notice on changing the amount. The increase from 30 to 40% took place within two days of their notice.

Westgate had 50% off and I picked up Door into Darkness and 36th Chamber of Shaolin. Slim pickins on the rest of it, and this was two weeks ago. Southpark Meadows location also at 50%, with much more stock, but I didn't find anything I wanted. The Domain location was only doing 40% and the red tags, so I split.

Update: My Dad just spoke to some employees at the 50% store I visited yesterday. Tomorrow (4/7) is the last day for the store to have any DVD/CD merchandise.

At the close of business tomorrow, everything is being sent to another Borders -- as consolidating store -- in area.

I hope that happens SOON!!! Even 60% would be good. I am not biting at 50%. Just like CC at 50%, there aren't many super deals. But they may have some hard to find items...

Just went back again today and picked up two more titles for $14.99 (Madagascar & Cloverfield) and the lady that I have been dealing with off adn on there over a week now said that she did hear it would probably go to 70 or 75% within the next week or two since they arent moving much in terms of video products. She said that I have been there buying more of their BD's than anyone she has seen so maybe it will get cheaper sooner than later. They still have 2 complete cases full of BD's and at least 4-5 rows of DVDs.

Both Borders I went to with the sale still had upwards of 3 cases just full of BDs.

The one on Sahara/Decatur in Vegas still had a majority of their DVDs in stock at 50% off. There were some DVDs I was tempted to buy, but was going to wait to see the sale go further.

FYI - Got an email today that stated the Troy, MI (Oakland Mall) store started 50% off all their DVDs/CDs today.

I had previous gotten an e-mail about the Mesquite, TX store going to 40% and that it was to last until 4/20. But just got one that said they went to 50% now, 2 weeks early, so they must be hurting. Maybe they will go to 70%+.

Now the question, do I now get things I know that are hard to find or never get this low or wait to see if the price dips and maybe someone else gets it. I think I just answered my own question.

How are you guys getting these emails from the local store? I'd love to be able to pickup the Bourne Trilogy blu-ray at 50% off. Heck, I'd have done it at 40% if it would have been one of the red tagged ones.

I'm sure it's from the Borders Rewards card. They must look at your zip code or maybe there's a default location in your Borders Rewards profile.

I'm just a rewards member, nothing special. I guess if you are in a market where they are having the 50% off sale, they send you an email advertising the sale.

I went into a store in the OC-not expecting much but was driving by anyway...all blu rays were in locked glass case and did not appear to have the redstickers...sd's that did were at 40% and just not a deal at full retail prices. Saw two women with armfulls of dvds going through everything. I did find two criterions with red stickers...all the rest did not have them. Picked up Solaris and the Last Emperor for $21.51 total so happy I stopped in. Still a lot of stock but no red tags on good stuff(foreign and criterions). Would have to go to minimum 60-70% for me to be interested in other stuff. What was interesting was the signage..just small signs saying dvd/cd clearance...not the kind of signs that would generate more floor traffic in my opinion. Could be good for more available titles at higher discounts later on..

I hate the locked cabinets. I cant tell the prices without buggin someone to stand there with it open while i check all the disc prices. Picked up The Rock for $14.50+tax today.

Stopped by the Borders at The Domain in Austin today to check out if the sale was going on... indeed it is but only items marked with red tape and only 40%, which for blu-rays was only about 1/3 of the selection boo.

I'll check it out again if it increases but 40% off MSRP + 8.25% local tax is not equal to a deal for me.
